FRISCO, Texas — WWE Smackdown is coming to Mullett Arena.
The stop is part of an expanded partnership between the professional entertainment giant and the Big 12, and was announced at the second of two media days on July 9 at The Star in Frisco, the headquarters of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.

Wrestler Big E (real name Ettore Ewen), who played college football at Iowa, appeared at the media day to discuss the partnership.
The move will bring a live Smackdown telecast to four Big 12 markets on the eve of a football game.
The first SmackDown will be held on Aug. 22 at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, a day before the 30th year of Big 12 Football kicks off with a Week 0 matchup between the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas State Wildcats in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on Aug. 23 at Aviva Stadium.
Other dates include:
Oct. 3 - SmackDown at Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio (Iowa State at Cincinnati on Oct. 4)
Oct. 24 - SmackDown at Mullet Arena in Tempe, Arizona (Houston at Arizona State on Oct. 25)
Oct. 31 - SmackDown at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah (Cincinnati at Utah on Nov. 1)
Big E was asked who he thought might emerge on top of the Big 12. He had two teams to keep an eye on.

"A pick for the Big 12, that's difficult," he said. "Last year ASU was picked dead last. I would have Utah and Arizona State up there; it's hard to say. I might go ASU."
When it came to ASU, Big E said he was "on the bandwagon" and was a Kenny Dillingham fan.
"I love the high energy. I love the passion he has."

Oklahoma DL prospect Nehemiah Kolone commits to BYU

BYU assistant coach Sione Po'uha instructs players during a practice before the 2024 Alamo Bowl. | Jaren Wilkey/BYU BYU just picked up a commitment out of the backyard of another Big 12 school. 3-star defensive lineman Nehemiah Kolone has committed to the Cougars, he announced Monday via social media. Kolone hails from Stillwater, Oklahoma, playing his high school ball less than a mile away from Oklahoma State's campus. Advertisement Over the past two seasons at Stillwater High, Kolone has recorded 99 total tackles — 14 for loss — and five sacks in 21 games. Based on 247 Sports composite score, the 6-foot-4, 255 pound Kolone is ranked as the No. 19 prospect from Oklahoma and the No. 104 defensive lineman in the country. He chose BYU over other offers from Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Arizona, Baylor and Kansas State, among a number of other programs. What BYU's 2026 recruiting class currently looks like

What Colorado football fans need to know about the BYU Cougars

Following their meeting in the Alamo Bowl last season, Colorado and BYU are set to face off in a Big 12 matchup during Week 5 of this season. The two programs have met 12 times, with Colorado holding a 7-4-1 record. However, the Buffs have lost their last three meetings, with their last win dating back to 1947. Coming off a strong 2024 season, BYU was expected to build upon its 11-2 season, but has had a bumpy offseason. Projected starting quarterback Jake Retzlaff withdrew from the program and is attempting to play college football elsewhere. That is a massive blow to a Cougars squad that seemed so close to putting it all together for a possible College Football Playoff run. With a significant question mark at quarterback, here's a look at BYU heading into the 2025 season. Opponent Previews: Georgia Tech, Delaware, Houston, Wyoming 2024 in review As we discussed above, BYU dismantled Colorado in the Alamo Bowl, 36-14, to cap off a tremendous season. The Cougars opened the year with nine straight wins, including a lopsided victory over then-ranked Kansas State. However, BYU followed that win streak by going 1-2 to close out the regular season, which was enough to see them lose out on a spot in the Big 12 championship game on tiebreaks. Head coach profile Kalani Sitake enters his tenth season as BYU's head coach, becoming one of the longest tenured head coaches in the conference. The former BYU player himself, Sitake, owns an impressive 72-43 record as the Cougars' head man. In his nine seasons in Provo, he has only had two losing seasons. Sitake always seems to have his teams ranked toward the end of the season. Top offensive players BYU returns its starting running back and its top wide receiver from last season. Running back LJ Martin has the potential to become one of the Big 12's best after rushing for 718 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. With mobile quarterback Jake Retzlaff out of the picture, expect Martin to be even more of a factor on offense. Chase Roberts, BYU's leading receiver from a season ago, racked up 854 yards and four touchdowns. We don't know yet who will be throwing him the football, but he has the talent to eclipse 1,000 yards this year. Top defensive player The top defensive player without a doubt goes to BYU's do-it-all linebacker, Isaiah Glasker. The junior defensive playmaker recorded 70 tackles last season to go along with 3.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three interceptions, one forced fumble and a defensive touchdown. Glasker filled out the stat sheet every time he took the field and comes into his third season of college football looking to become nationally recognized. 2025 schedule Way-too-early Colorado matchup preview A few weeks ago, I might have said Colorado has an uphill battle with BYU seemingly returning most of its production from 2024, but now things have changed. Having a question mark at quarterback like the Cougars do, a month away from the season, does not bode well for offensive chemistry. Furthermore, the quarterbacks currently on BYU's roster are very inexperienced. The Buffaloes will still need to play their "A" game, but the opening for a win is much larger without Retzlaff. Originally, I predicted a loss for Colorado, as I think they will beat one of Iowa State or BYU. The uncertainty regarding the BYU offense has me rethinking my prediction. WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XL Results As Jelly Roll Helps Randy Orton Win

Drew McIntyre recently returned to WWE programming. (Credit: Joe Maher/WWE via Getty Images) WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 featured a hard-hitting battle between two of SmackDown's biggest stars: Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre. In front of a ____ crowd in the All State Arena in Atlanta, the recently returning McIntyre went one-on-one with 'The Viper,' who recently lost the King of the Ring tournament to Cody Rhodes. McIntyre was wrestling his first major singles match after a planned brief break from WWE that really left a gaping hole on the heel side of the blue brand. As WWE looks to establish new challengers for SmackDown's WWE Championship, currently held by John Cena, McIntyre and Orton faced off at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event as they attempted to cement themselves as potential world title challengers. WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 Results For Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton Of all the matches ___ on the latest edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, McIntyre vs. Orton was certainly the least predictable. Heading into the bout, there was definitely a case to be made that both stars badly needed the win. Orton, however, ultimately emerged with the massive win in Atlanta _____, defeating McIntyre with an RKO to ___________. It was the second consecutive Saturday Night's Main Event where McIntyre suffered a significant loss to one of SmackDown's top superstars ____. It was just back in May that McIntyre lost to Damian Priest in a steel cage match, putting over the former Judgment Day member before his planned hiatus. That was a sensible booking move that helped cement Priest as a borderline main event star as McIntyre got himself some much needed rest and relaxation. But in Atlanta, WWE found itself in a booking pickle with McIntyre vs. Orton, with both stars coming off key losses in their latest high-profile matches: Orton losing to Rhodes and McIntyre losing to Priest. Thus, WWE needed to carefully craft the layout of the finish at WWE SNME to heep both stars looking strong. That's exactly what WWE did _____. Orton and ___________. WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 Results: What's Next Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre? Given their status as two of SmackDown's biggest stars, Orton and McIntyre both appear to be set up as potential WWE Championship challengers in the near future. Orton lost a close battle to Rhodes at Night of Champions only because he second guessed himself and decided against going for his devastating punt kick on 'The American Nightmare.' That decision ultimately cost him the match, and when the bout was over, Orton's menacing stare at Rhodes not-so-subtly hinted at a potential heel turn. Rhodes, of course, will face John Cena at SummerSlam, and the widespread expectation is that Rhodes will win back the WWE title at that event. That could potentially set up Orton vs. Rhodes II, possibly with an Orton heel turn to get there, though it wouldn't be surprising if WWE decided to hold off on that angle until the lead-up to WrestleMania 41 in 2026. If Cena retains against Rhodes at SummerSlam, Orton is unlikely to emerge as a WWE title challenger given that WWE recently billed Orton vs. Cena at Backlash as 'One Last Time' while WWE CCO Triple H said after the event that the bout was indeed their final match against one another. That makes McIntyre the more likely option to feud for the WWE Championship, whether it's held by Cena or Rhodes, immediately after SummerSlam. In early 2025, it was reported that WWE moved McIntyre to SmackDown mainly to set up a 'series' of matches against Rhodes, potentially for the WWE Championship. Though Cena's title win obviously threw a wrench into those plans, McIntyre vs. Rhodes may come to fruition, after all. Before we get there, Orton is reportedly set to team with rapper and singer Jelly Roll in a celebrity-filled tag team match against Logan Paul and McIntyre at SummerSlam. That should be a stopgap rivalry for all stars involved, especially with Paul's status as a part-time star. It should lead to another singles match between Orton and McIntyre that serves as the blowoff match to their rivalry and potentially sets either star on their path to a WWE title feud. After _______ at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, McIntyre is a strong candidate to challenge for the WWE Championship immediately after SummerSlam, especially with a lack of other compelling options on SmackDown.
