WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform, has recently begun rolling out a new feature that allows you to add music to your Status on the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android. Similar to Meta's other platforms like Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp now lets you add up to 15 seconds of music to an image and up to 60 seconds when sharing a video in your Status.
These Status updates—including those with music—are protected by end-to-end encryption. That means even WhatsApp can't see which songs you've added. Like always, your Status will disappear after 24 hours. Notably, the Music on Status is currently not supported on WhatsApp Web. How To Add Music To Your WhatsApp Status
Step 1: Open WhatsApp and go to the Updates tab from the bottom navigation bar.
Step 2: Tap the Add Status button to begin creating a new status.
Step 3: Choose an image or video from the media gallery shown.
Step 4: Tap the music icon at the top of the screen to add a song.
Step 5: Search or pick a track, then use the slider to select the part of the song you want.
Step 6: Once satisfied, tap Done, then hit the green send button to publish your Status.

Actors Rajesh Tailang and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya have reacted to the video of visitors entering a water body at Delhi's Sunder Nursery. The Instagram Reel, captioned 'SWIMMING POOL IN SUNDER NURSERY,' captured several groups of adults and children wading and splashing in one of the heritage site's water bodies during rainfall on June 29 (Sunday). Posted on Instagram on July 1, the clip has now clocked over 399k views and 5k comments, and continues to draw widespread criticism. Actor Rajesh Tailang, who regards Delhi as home — having gone to the National School of Drama here — called out the behaviour. 'I've often visited Sundar Nursery with close friends, and each visit has been a calming experience, surrounded by nature and history. It inspires a sense of responsibility to preserve both. But this recent incident reflects not just insensitivity, but also reminds me, sadly, how lacking we Delhiites often are when it comes to civic sense," the NSD alumnus tells us. Delhi-based actor and singer Sanjeeta Bhattacharya also echoed this sentiment and questioned the absence of intervention: 'As long as people aren't breaking rules, things should be fine. [But in this case] did they (the people in the video) not know this was not allowed? If so, was security not there at the time?' The site is managed by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. According to the management, the unauthorised activity lasted for 17 minutes. Architect Ratish Nanda, the trust's CEO, informs: 'Sunder Nursery boasts of several water bodies. However, at none is public access to the water permitted. On Sunday, 29 June, a group of visitors ignored the clear signs prohibiting entry into the water and, with the onset of rains, entered the water channel at the Gardens of Delight for a total of 17 minutes from 8.02pm to 8.19pm. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and the fountains, lights and other electric equipment in the water channel were not damaged. We are grateful that many visitors aided the guards in ensuring that the inappropriate and dangerous activity was brought to a halt within minutes." As the video continues to circulate, many social media users have expressed fear that such incidents could result in tighter rules or reduced access to one of Delhi's most beloved public spaces. Why Proton says Apple is a "tool of dictatorships" in new lawsuit
Privacy company Proton has filed a bombshell federal lawsuit accusing Apple of becoming a "tool of dictatorships" through its iron grip on iPhone app distribution, claiming the tech giant systematically removes apps to appease authoritarian regimes worldwide. The Swiss firm's 73-page complaint, filed in California federal court June 30, reveals how Apple's App Store monopoly enables global censorship. According to the lawsuit, 66 of the world's 100 most popular apps are banned from Chinese iPhones, while all 240 tested VPN apps, critical tools for bypassing government censorship, are blocked from Chinese users. Proton claims Apple threatened to remove its own VPN app unless the company stopped advertising its ability to "unblock censored websites," forcing the privacy advocate to self-censor or lose access to millions of iOS users. The lawsuit is the latest challenge to Apple's tight control over the iPhone ecosystem The filing details Apple's pattern of removing apps at dictators' demands, including the 2019 removal of during Hong Kong's pro-democracy protests and dozens of VPN apps from Russia's App Store last year, precisely when Russian citizens needed these tools most to access independent media. "Apple's monopoly over iOS app distribution means it can enforce this perverse policy on all app developers, forcing them to also be complicit," Proton argues in court documents. The company serves over 100 million users across 180 countries with privacy-focused alternatives to Apple 's own services. Beyond censorship, Proton alleges Apple's 30% "arbitrary tax" on app payments props up "surveillance capitalism" by penalizing privacy-first subscription services while giving free passes to data-harvesting companies like Meta and Google that don't process App Store payments. The class-action lawsuit seeks to break Apple's stranglehold on iPhone app distribution and payment processing, demanding court orders allowing competing app stores on iOS.
