Good Morning Britain star's future confirmed amid huge cuts and shakeup at ITV
ITV is set to make a huge change to their daytime scheduling, with jobs being put at risk - however, one star is reportedly safe from the cuts. The big changes have left staff, as well as viewers, unsure of what the future holds for their favourites on the channel.
They have decided to overhaul Loose Women and Lorraine as part of new cost-saving measures. From 2026, Lorraine Kelly's morning programme will be shortened to a 30-minute slot, airing from 9.30am to 10am instead of its current hour-long format. It will also only be broadcast for 30 weeks out of the year, meaning the stand-in hosts who currently replace Lorraine when she is on holiday will be out of a job. Loose Women is also facing significant changes, and will soon only be airing "on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year" according to ITV bosses.
The risks to jobs has left some fans wondering if their favourites could be axed. Thankfully, for those who love a bit of showbiz gossip from Good Morning Britain's guru Richard Arnold, they have nothing to worry about.
He has reportedly kept his job amid the sweeping changes at ITV as some 220 staff face redundancies. Richard has fronted the entertainment news on the ITV morning show since it launched in 2014.
According to reports, he has been told he is safe along with his team, who are known as "RAP" for Richard Arnold Producers. A source told The Sun:"Richard is one of ITV daytime's best-loved faces never mind on GMB.
"Viewers enjoy his slots and he remains very much part of the furniture." Richard's Good Morning Britain co-stars Andi Peters and Jeff Brazier haven't had as much luck, however.
The pair have been lucky enough to call flying to far-out luxury locations part of their job, yet it won't be for much longer. They would often pop up in some far flung location, encouraging viewers to try their luck and be in with a chance of winning thousands of pounds on shows, including Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.
Yet, ITV will, reportedly, no longer be shelling out for presenters such as Andi and Jeff to sun themselves on sun-kissed beaches while working for the broadcaster in its latest cost-cutting exercise.
This year alone, Andi has broadcast from the Maldives, Australia, Cape Town and Florida while Jeff has jetted off to Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malta.
Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, announced the changes in May, where he had said the changes were necessary to "generate savings".
He said: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
However, sources have told The Mirror some shows face a 'death spiral' saying:"It's not a case of viewers seeing less of their shows… it's impossible to see how the high standards will remain the same.
"Some staff believe Loose Women and Lorraine in particular will enter a death spiral… it's just so sad. Just a handful of people will be working on each of those two programmes which has huge ramifications for how they are going forward."

Loose Women stars 'upset' as 'major part of show axed' in shake-up
Loose Women is set to be involved in the upcoming ITV shake-up, but reports claim that a huge part of the show will be axed as the network undergoes a major makeover Loose Women are said to be axing a major part of the show. It comes after ITV announced a string of major changes to the network, which will come into play next year. In May, the network announced a major overhaul of their daytime schedules, which affects both Loose Women and Lorraine Kelly's self-titled morning programme. However, despite being hit with a mass loss of viewers, the magazine show This Morning remains unaffected. While both Lorraine and Loose Women air throughout the year, they will be axed to just 30 weeks of airtime. But it's now claimed that an integral part of Loose Women will no longer make the cut. It's said that the show will no longer have the manpower to work behind the scenes to pull off the segment, leaving the regular presenters "upset." Sources claim that celebrity guests will no longer be included, despite the show having previously pulled in the likes of Dame Joan Collins, Tina Knowles, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson and even Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. A source said: "Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home. The guests are often one of the highest parts of the show, so it feels like a very strange decision to cut them altogether. Instead, the focus will be on guests for Lorraine and This Morning." They went on to tell MailOnline: "Firstly, there are four hosts conducting the conversation, and secondly, they use their interviews to discuss female-focused issues, something shows like This Morning don't do as often. "In recent years, Loose Women have welcomed Elizabeth Hurley, Joan Collins and have down sit down one on one interviews with Janet Jackson and Naomi Campbell who all chose to do their chats with the show because they love it." They went on to add that the programme will become a "shell of itself" amid fears it may be cancelled altogether, although this has been denied by ITV. A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: "The Loose Women team is still working on the show and its content for next year." Regular panellist Nadia Sawalha has spoken openly about her views on the ongoing changes at ITV. Speaking on her YouTube channel, she said: "Do you know what, at the moment, all of us on screen are in work and are proud of what we do. But behind the scenes there are people that are really suffering, and what you don't realise is when you attack the show you attack them, because you never see all the army of people behind the scenes and how hard they work. "So to all my friends and colleagues behind the scenes who have just got a huge shock out of the blue, I'm so sorry. Mark knows how upset I've been at home about it. I just can't bear it. So just be f*****g kind to people." She then added: "What people don't realise at Loose Women is that we're self-employed, I am self-employed. Every contract is a new contract. I could be let go tomorrow, in five years, you don't know because we're not employees. "So I can't tell you anything except I am on for my next contract. What has been brutal over the past week, and I am getting tearful about it, is that hundreds of people are going to be made redundant out of the blue. A lot of my friends and colleagues have been there for decades and I cannot tell you how upsetting it was to see people walking around numb with shock and fear about what they are going to do. That has been so awful. It has been worse than whatever trolls have been saying about our show that we feel really protective of." The Mirror has approached Loose Women for comment.

Coronation Street legend nearly quit show over ITV decision
This forced him to consider hanging up his hat and dropping out of Corrie altogether. Simon Gregson considered leaving Coronation Street after being left 'gutted' by an ITV decision Recalling the dilemma, the Coronation Street star said: 'I was offered rallying with Seat." He added: "I was offered a few things. I had to meet with the boss of insurance for ITV, and he said: 'Absolutely hell no', and that was my possible career in racing gone. I was gutted, it was my lifelong dream.' The ITV actor remembered that he was envious, Kelvin Fletcher, who left rival soap opera Emmerdale to race cars. He said: 'And then of course, Kelvin from Emmerdale, he's racing McLaren, Bentley, Porsche." According to The Mirror, he added: 'I was like, 'that was my dream!' He said 'Get lost' and left the show. Which is what I should have done, or maybe I shouldn't, or I wouldn't be here now.' Recommended Reading: However, despite his love for cars and acting clashing, he previously admitted that he wouldn't be on the cobbles if it wasn't for the former. 'The reason I went for the job - because I wasn't an actor, I wanted to join the RAF originally - the reason I went for it was for money,' he explained. He added on the motoring podcast Fuelling Around: 'Because I'd seen a Ford Escort Mexico, in bright orange and I was like 'I want that car, so I'll go for that job'.'

Fresh Emmerdale horror in early ITVX release as Joe Tate is left wailing
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Doctor Crowley's (James Hillier) revenge plan left Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) a broken man in tonight's Emmerdale. We first met the dodgy surgeon earlier this year, as part of Joe's plot to have an illegal kidney transplant. Joe paid Crowley to perform the operation, which saw him take Caleb Miligan's (William Ash) working organ and put it in Joe's body. He was paid and ordered to leave the village, but he returned this evening to put Joe in a position that left him terrified. The last we saw of Joe he had been knocked out by Shaun, his bodyguard. As he woke up, Joe found himself hooked up to some machines in a makeshift theatre room, and Doctor Crowley staring at him. The situation was simple – all Joe had to do was transfer £100k to Crowley and Shaun, and he could leave without a scratch on his body. If he didn't, Crowley was more than happy to use one of the scalpels he was cleaning while talking to Joe. Crowley gave Joe some time to ponder over the threat and left him alone in the room. In this period, Joe's anxiety increased and he found himself becoming more and more fearful. When Crowley and Shaun returned, there was a brief moment where it looked like the doctor was going to cut into Joe's skin, but he then gave in and revealed his bank details, so the duo could take his money. As a result of Crowley being smart and holding Joe hostage in a location that could not be traced, there was no possible way he could face the consequences for what he had done via prison.
