Beloved Netflix show ending after 10 seasons as shooting begins on final episodes

Daily Mail10 hours ago
The hit Netflix reality show Queer Eye is coming to an end after its upcoming 10th season, the streaming service has announced.
A reboot of the 2000s cult classic Bravo series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the new version with the shorter title bowed in 2018.
In contrast to the irreverent and acerbic tone of the original series, the revamped Netflix version was noted for its sugary, feel-good content.
Each episode was about the main cast of gay professionals - the 'Fab Five' - helping guest-stars improve their lives in various ways, including fashion, grooming and food.
In a post shared this Wednesday, Netflix revealed on X, formerly Twitter, that the show will end after its next season, which has now begun filming.
The tweet featured a photo of the current 'Fab Five,' comprised of Jonathan van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Karamo Brown and Jeremiah Brent.
Jeremiah joined the series in season nine as the interior design expert, replacing Bobby Berk, who occupied the position for the first eight seasons.
The rest of the five have been on the show throughout its Netflix run, each with his own area of expertise - grooming for Jonathan, food and wine for Antoni, culture and lifestyle for Karamo and fashion for Tan.
Each season is centered on a particular American city, with past examples including Atlanta, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Austin, Kansas City and Philadelphia.
In the tweet announcing the final season, the cast were pictured in front of the Lincoln Memorial, indicating the setting will be Washington, DC.
As news spread that the show was coming to an end, Tan France fired up his Instagram page to share his feelings on the development.
'First day of the FINAL season of Queer Eye,' wrote the UK-born reality star Instagram, alongside the promotional picture of the cast in the US capital.
'It's been a long, beautiful journey we've been on, and I truly appreciate all of the love and support for this our little show, that changed my life in ways I never thought possible,' added the fashion plate.
'As we begin our farewell season here on D.C I simply want to say thank you! Thank you!!!!!' he concluded to his 3.7 million-strong following.
Jeremiah shared the Netflix announcement to his own Insta Stories, conveying the news to his own more than one million followers.
Jonathan posted the group shot of the Fab Five at the Lincoln Memorial, plus a solo of himself by the Washington Monument, writing: 'Season 10, the final season.'
Meanwhile Antoni had dropped a hint about their filming location the previous day, posting an Insta Stories photo of the Washington Monument.
Bobby announced departure exit from the show in November 2023, explaining that he had decided not to renew his contract because he had made other commitments.
Rumors swirled that he had feuded with Tan, to the point Bobby gave an interview to 'extinguish some of the speculation' around the issue.
'I want people to know that Tan and I - we will be fine,' he insisted in a Vanity Fair interview that ran in January 2024, two months after he went public with his exit.
He revealed that when his contract - and those of his castmates - expired after eight seasons, he believed the show was coming to an end altogether.
As they wrapped filming season eight in 2022, 'the Fab Five and the crew, we all stood there, and we took pictures and cried,' he said.
'We thought we were done. Mentally and emotionally, I thought we all moved on. I know I did, and I started planning other things.'
He claimed other Queer Eyes stars were also weighing other career options at that time, saying: 'We'd just assumed that the show wouldn't come back if we all didn't come back. I was like, I'm not going to be having FOMO 'cause the show is not going to happen. I had become at peace with it.'
However the rest of the Fab Five ultimately decided to stay - thanks to conversations about which Bobby did not provide details - and 'with only one of us not coming back, Netflix felt [it] could recast one person,' he stated.
He stuck to his own decision to leave, explaining: 'All the plans that I had made when I thought we weren't coming back, I just wasn't willing to change those. I would have had to pump the brakes on multiple other projects that are already in process. We had mentally just prepared ourselves to move on - that's why I left.'
As for the alleged feud, Bobby confessed that he 'had a moment' with Tan, causing him to temporarily unfollow the fashion expert on Instagram.
'There was a situation, and that's between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show. It was something personal that had been brewing - and nothing romantic, just to clarify that,' the former reality star explained.
'Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that's the end of it. We became like siblings - and siblings are always going to fight,' Bobby insisted.
When they attended the Emmys, Bobby and Tan 'both embraced each other, and we both said congratulations' and the former said he was able to 'foresee in six months or a year, Tan and I at each other's house being good.'
Two months after Bobby's interview went public, Tan found himself staunchly denying allegations that he and Antoni had 'conspired' to have Bobby replaced with Jeremiah - claims leveled in an explosive Rolling Stone article.

Love Island star admits she ‘just wanted a free holiday' and moans show was ‘hard work'

A LOVE Island star has admitted that she 'just wanted a free holiday' and moaned about how much 'hard work' the show was. Lana Jenkins appeared on the hit dating show in 2023 where she finished as a runner-up alongside then partner Ron Hall. 4 4 But now, in a Q&A with her Instagram followers, the blonde beauty has said she was just after a free holiday. A fan asked Lana: 'What surprised you the most about your time in the villa?' To which she replied: 'How hard work it was,' followed by a string of laughing emojis. She went on: 'I was just after a free holiday and a cheeky flirt.' Lana's comments come as a very dramatic Casa Amor recoupling hit the villa on Wednesday night. The makeup artist, 27, has stayed in the spotlight since leaving the villa - and recently showed off the results of her new boob job. Lana posed in the tiny top and matching bike shorts outside a gym while wearing a cafe coloured headband and tortoiseshell glasses. She shared the photos to Instagram, including a pic of her posing happily in a polaroid and pouting to the camera while sitting in a car. "From today," she captioned the post. Love Island's Lana Jenkins strips off to see-through underwear to show off secret boob job after split with Ron Lana announced she'd had breast surgery during a Get Ready With Me TikTok video filmed in Sydney, Australia, in February. "I will address my boobs," she said. "Yes, I have had my boobs done. For myself and myself only. I will talk about it in due course." In a later video, Lana explained how the process had been a long time coming. She explained: "Not only did I feel small chested but I also felt one boob was bigger than the other. That is actually due to my spine, believe it or not. "I have a condition called scoliosis, which is when your spine isn't straight. You probably won't be able to tell because mine is mild, but I can tell, I can see it. She then explained how it is normal and natural to have one boob bigger than the other, but she felt hers was more noticeable than average. Lana first booked to have surgery three years ago and revealed she began thinking of having a boob job 10 years ago. She postponed her first booked surgery after getting a new job and then Love Island pushed it back further. Lana said: "In life you do have to do things that make you happy and this is something I wanted to do." The reality TV beauty split from her Love Island partner Ron Hall three months after last year's winter edition of the show. The couple blamed distance and their busy schedules for the split, but maintain they are still good friends. 4

The Dexter saga has become too much filler and not enough killer

Dexter has always asked a lot of its viewers. The crime drama, about a vigilante serial killer who dispenses the grisliest form of justice to Miami's worst offenders, demanded that we are simultaneously attracted to and repulsed by its main character, Dexter Morgan (Michael C Hall). The latest instalment in the franchise, the New York-set Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+), asks a lot too – the viewer must wade through tedious stock characters, some alarmingly hammy acting and a script that assumes we are all staring at our phones as we watch. Do that, however, and you're rewarded with Dexter's trademark breezy, jet-black wit and a crime procedural all of its own. It's like CSI: Patrick Bateman. Ostensibly, this is the third spin-off in the Dexter universe, following Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, but like the first of those it is merely a continuation of the original series. At the end of 2022's New Blood, we left Dexter dead in the snow of upstate New York, where his estranged son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), had just put a bullet through Dad's chest. A brief coma-dream sequence conveniently explains the plot and characters of New Blood away, so Dexter can gingerly hotfoot it to the Big Apple to find Harrison, who may or may not have inherited his father's murderous impulses. What Dexter finds in the big city is a whole bunch of yellow-cab, steam-system, Central Park cliches. Harrison works in a hotel where his colleagues include Snooty English Hotel Manager and Winsome Latina Single Mom; Dexter finds friendship with a borderline-offensively stereotyped Sierra Leonean family; one of the detectives who comes into Dexter's orbit is a brusque genius-savant whose quirk is listening to Stayin' Alive while she works. Perhaps showrunner Clyde Phillips feels his main character has enough originality to make up for the rest of them. Which, in Phillips's defence, Dexter Morgan almost does. He is no longer an athletic thirtysomething, but a weary 50-year-old recovering from a near-fatal shooting. There is relish in Hall's performance as Dexter finds his 'Dark Passenger' (the name he gives his psychopathic tendencies) slowly stirring back into life – largely because of a killer in the city who beheads cab drivers and the press have dubbed 'The Dark Passenger'. All the early footling about is an appetiser to the main meal, which we finally get to in the fourth episode – a dinner party for serial killers. This is where the series truly gets the blood pumping back through its veins, with a lovely performance by Peter Dinklage as a billionaire philanthropist with a clandestine sideline in collecting serial-killer memorabilia. Watching Hall and Dinklage go head-to-head as the series develops will make the whole endeavour worthwhile; the less said the better about Uma Thurman's pantomime turn as Dinklage's fixer. Among this Psychos Assemble meeting is Neil Patrick Harris's 'Tattoo Collector' and Krysten Ritter's 'Lady Vengeance'. The small talk is terrific: 'So, how do you sharpen your knives?' Yet the show can never quite pull itself free from being dispensable popcorn fun – for all its accolades, it has never been in the same league as the true greats of the streaming era – something highlighted by Dexter's stepfather, Harry (James Remar), who appears in ghostly form to remind distracted viewers what's going on. If you are concentrating, the ghostsplaining becomes farcical as Harry repeats key bits of information over and over again ('Harrison needs you!' 'Batista will be here any moment!'). Given the show already has Dexter's voiceover to explain proceedings, this is unforgivable and drags proceedings nearer to streaming-service filler than prestige-television killer.

Jon Jones leaves UFC fans in a tizzy three-word U-turn after Dana White's lying claim over Tom Aspinall fight

JON JONES has left UFC fans in a tizzy following an apparent U-turn on a fight with Tom Aspinall. The former pound-for-pound king walked away from the biggest payday of his career and a historic heavyweight title unification bout with the Brit last month when he announced his retirement. 6 6 6 Jones ' retirement, however, lasted less than two weeks as he has re-entered the UFC 's drug testing pool. And he's seemingly now entertaining the prospect of fighting Aspinall, which he repeatedly poo-pooed ever since the Brit became the interim king of the heavyweights in November 2023. After seeing an AI-mocked-up photo of himself on the cage and a fallen Aspinall on the octagon canvas at Donald Trump 's proposed UFC White House card, Jones commented: "I like this." Jones' comment sent MMA fans into a frenzy, with one saying: "He don't want to fight, [he] just likes the attention." Another said: "Nobody cares anymore, you refused to fight. Enjoy your retirement." And another said: "This fool has wasted enough of everyone's [time]. Ignore him." One remarked: "This man is relentless in pushing the limits of delusion lol." Another chimed in: "That's cool, he can troll as much as he wants WITHOUT the belt." JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS 6 Jones' vacating of the heavyweight title and subsequent retirement led to Wigan warrior Aspinall being elevated from interim to undisputed champion. In the immediate aftermath of Jones' retirement, UFC supremo Dana White doubled down on claims that the Hall of Famer "agreed" to fight Aspinall. Tom Aspinall Fires Not So Subtle Dig At Jon Jones After UFC Retirement Jones denied that notion, insisting he retired LAST NOVEMBER after his title defence against Stipe Miocic and told the UFC brass of his decision. White hit back at that claim late last month when asked by SunSport, saying: "That's not true. "I'm telling you the truth. Believe who you want to believe." 6 6 Just hours after Jones' hanging up of the gloves, it emerged that the former two-division champion had been charged with fleeing the scene of an accident in New Mexico in February. An "intoxicated" woman, who was "lacking clothing from the waist down", found at the scene claimed Jones was the driver of the vehicle. Jones, who allegedly alluded to threats of violence while on the phone to police at the scene, has vehemently denied the allegation and insisted the woman found in the car drove away from his house while intoxicated.
