Notre Dame football offers multiple prospects on Wednesday including a 5-star tackle

Yahoo22-05-2025
Notre Dame football went on another one of its offer sprees on Wednesday, as they sent out multiple scholarships to stars across the country.
Once again, the Irish weren't focusing on just one class, as multiple were given the good news. They currently have 16 commits in the 2026 group, but should expect at least 8-10 more verbals before it is all said and done.

Notre Dame does not have a commitment in the 2027 cycle, but it is just a matter of time until that changes. They are hard at work on this class, and it should pay off soon.
Find out below who the Irish offered on Wednesday, as they continue their impressive recruiting success following a run to the College Football Playoff championship game.
(Note: All prospect rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite.
2026 tight end Brayden Fogle
The Ohio native was one of the targets, as the 6-foot, 3-inch and 225-pounder is one of the best prospects in the country. He's ranked as the nation's No. 162 prospect and has a very impressive offer list. Notre Dame is a bit late to his recruitment, but still has plenty of time to make up ground.
2027 safety Tory Pittman III
Notre Dame has a great recent recruiting success with some of the top members of the secondary, and Pittman could be the next one that lands in South Bend. The 6-foot and 185-pound star is one of the best players in his class, ranking as the No. 40 overall prospect.
2026 Tight end Preston Fryzel
Another offer to a 2026 tight end, Fryzel also resides in Ohio. It's pretty clear that the Irish have made that a focus state, especially considering head coach Marcus Freeman's connection. At 6-foot, 4-inches and 220-pound, Fryzel fits the mold of a big time prospect, even though his ranking, No. 683, doesn't reflect that.
2027 Offensive tackle Mark Matthews
My favorite offer of the day went out to Matthews, who is the No. 8 overall player in his class. At 6-foot, 6-inches and 270-pounds, he has the frame of an elite tackle who could protect any quarterbacks blindside. Notre Dame has had a good amount of success recruiting the state of Florida, and hopefully that continues with Matthews.
Overview
It's become pretty obvious that Notre Dame is looking for a tight end in the 2026 cycle, with the two new offers out on Wednesday. They currently don't have a player committed at the position, as the search continues to find a fit. The 2027 offers are all about relationships and evaluation, they like both of them enough that waiting to offer later didn't make sense. I love the aggressiveness of this staff on the trail, and the success should continue even if it's not immediate.

Chiefs scouting report: Notre Dame Fighting Irish G Charles Jagusah

Play of the Day No. 153: Zane Durant gets the unblocked TFL, but watch the violence right guard Charles Jagusah inflicts on Jaylen Reed (Notre Dame vs. Penn State, 2024). #POTD The Kansas City Chiefs found a temporary solution to replace left guard Joe Thuney when they decided to kick former second round pick Kingsley Suamataia inside. Suamataia's physical tools and upside give him immense potential, but the Chiefs might be forced to revisit the position in the 2026 NFL draft if things go poorly this year. The 2026 NFL draft features a deep pool of college offensive tackles who project as guards at the professional level. Notre Dame Fighting Irish redshirt sophomore Charles Jagusah falls into that category. Jagusah spent some time at left tackle in 2024, but his best long-term fit is at guard. Jagusah suffered a fractured left humerus in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) accident in July, which might impact his availability early in the season. However, Notre Dame faces a favorable schedule after clearing early hurdles against Miami and Texas A&M, meaning Jagusah should see action in the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive year. Jagusah is an imposing 6'7", 333 lb. lineman and displays surprisingly light footwork that expands his range in pass protection and helps him easily move and adjust trajectory in space. He's an elite athlete with insane burst and top speed for a player his size. Ordinarily, Jagusah's height would prevent him from playing guard, but he's very flexible and maintains a low pad level while on the interior. Jagusah sets a wide base and drops his hips to anchor against bull rushers. He fits his hands into the defender's pads and drives upward, forcing the pass rusher to lose the leverage battle. Jagusah freely bends through his hips and core, allowing him to contort his upper body to absorb the initial contact before sinking down in his anchor. Jagusah must focus on developing his hand usage. He played left tackle against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff and suffered significant losses against savvy veterans Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau because of poor strike timing and hand placement. Jagusah's explosiveness and movement skills shine in the run game. His frame needs to become denser to generate more displacement at the point of attack. Jagusah's height causes him to overextend in the run game, but more experience should help limit this issue. Jagusah could return to school in 2026 since he's only a redshirt sophomore. If he declares, he projects as a top 64 selection with first round upside.

Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kevin Riley

Entering year two playing for his hometown team, could the 2025 season mark a breakout campaign for Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kevin Riley? A native of the Tuscaloosa area, Riley is coming off a true freshman season a year ago in which he did not see much action for the Crimson Tide. However, Riley came to Tuscaloosa as one of the highest-rated running backs in his recruiting class, and is a player who is certainly capable of emerging this season to potentially become a key contributor of Alabama's running back room. Here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama running back Kevin Riley entering the 2025 season. Kevin Riley player information Kevin Riley career stats Entering year two of college football, Riley is coming off a true freshman season in which he did not play much for the Crimson Tide. Last season, Riley played in only two games where he rushed for 30 yards on 10 attempts, while also hauling in two receptions for nine yards. Kevin Riley 2024 stats As mentioned previously, Riley appeared in only two games during the 2024 season, which came against Western Kentucky and Mercer. Over that span, Riley rushed for 30 yards on 10 attempts, and caught two passes for nine yards. Kevin Riley recruiting ranking According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Riley came to Alabama considered as the nation's No. 75 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 3 running back nationally. Riley, a four-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2023 when he flipped from Miami, was also ranked the No. 7 player in the state of Alabama where he attended Tuscaloosa County High School. Kevin Riley 2025 season outlook When taking a look at Riley's potential impact this season, it is currently an unknown surrounding what the former four-star prospect's role might be. As to why, that is because Alabama's running back room returns two big names in starter Jam Miller and Richard Young, while also having added an experienced transfer in Dre Washington. However, Riley could also potentially emerge in that group as well, as the redshirt freshman could make an impact in multiple different ways from the running back position. Overall, expect Riley to improve on his season totals from a year ago, and to be a backup option at running back who could potentially emerge later in the season. College Football Fans Want ESPN Writer Fired After 'Arrest-Worthy' Marcus Freeman Ranking

College Football Fans Want ESPN Writer Fired After 'Arrest-Worthy' Marcus Freeman Ranking originally appeared on The Spun. A recent ranking of college football coaches by an ESPN analyst has some fans so outraged that they're ready to bring out the pitchforks. In a recent post on X, the College Football Alerts (@CFBAlerts_) account shared a recent ranking of college football coaches by ESPN's Bill Connelly. That ranking failed to include Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman anywhere in the top 30, and fans quickly started giving Connelly hell for it: "Bill, can you provide why coach Marcus Freeman wasn't placed in your top 30? Perhaps the criterion used explains? Genuinely interested, thank you," one user wrote. "Bill Connelly of ESPN is a Hack! You've got Purdue coach at number 11 and Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame not even on that list. Tell me you don't know college football without telling me you don't know college football!" wrote another. "Not having Marcus Freeman on this list is criminal work! Bill should be arrested!" a third wrote. "I'd change my name so that I wouldn't be linked to this joke." There was only one problem: The post was completely misconstrued. In Connelly's original post, he actually made it a post of the top coaches of the past 20 years and even had Freeman as his No. 6 coach among active coaches. He shared CFBAlert's post and admonished them for framing it in a way to "generate the most toxic possible responses." "It's a shame you guys forgot to link to the piece in question and decided to frame it in the way that would generate the most toxic possible responses," Connelly wrote in response. Unfortunately, fans still took serious issue with Connelly's ranking even after his clarifying statement: "This is really great, now I know when your name is attached to an article I can skip it," one user declared. "Your rankings are crap. No matter how you try to explain it away. Kirby is #1 on every other persons list but yours," wrote another. "It doesn't matter how you got there. This list is (expletive) garbage and shows how stupid you are. Defend it however you need to, it's an embarrassing list." It doesn't seem like ESPN will be canning Connelly over this one though.
