Metal bat thug branded "Bob Marley" smashed birthday reveller's jaw in brutal attack
A young man out celebrating his 21st birthday was subjected to a horrific attack with a metal bat which smashed his jaw. Dreadlocked thug Michael Gray apparently took offence to being called Bob Marley and went looking for revenge several hours later.
He jumped out of a car as Josh Shaw walked home from a bar with his partner and viciously attacked him with the bat, knocking him unconscious. Gray, 40, of Glenrothes, was jailed for two years when he appeared for sentencing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that on June 22 last year at Caskieberran Road, Glenrothes, he assaulted the man, repeatedly threatened him with violence, challenged him to a fight and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a baseball bat to his severe injury and permanent impairment.
Depute fiscal Sarah Smith previously told the court that the victim was out with friends for his 21st birthday and they were initially in Pinkertons pub in Glenrothes.

Gray was also there with friends and his first interchange with the victim was asking if he had put an Oasis song on the jukebox. As Gray was leaving his premises the victim said, 'See you later Bob Marley'.
Gray thought it was a reference to his dreadlocks and was heard saying, 'I'm gonna cave his skull in'. The two groups were later in the Styx bar and Gray angrily warned the victim 'he was not the type of person to have a laugh with and he did not know who he was messing with', added the depute.
At around 1.20am Mr Shaw and his partner left the bar and began walking home when a car pulled up next to them with Gray in the front passenger seat. Gray got out of the car holding a black metal bat, which he used to strike the victim repeatedly on the head and body.
He was knocked unconscious falling to the ground with passers-by calling an ambulance but a police car arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and took him to the hospital. The victim's partner managed to video part of the incident, which included Gray making death threats and a black Vauxhall Zafira then driving off. This led to Gray being traced and arrested.
Mr Shaw required surgery a few days later on his broken jaw. He had a metal plate and screws inserted to hold it together. He has lost feeling in the part of his chin which was struck and has been told this will never return. He also required stitches to a cut lip.
Sheriff James Williamson previously told Gray, 'This was an outrageous, unprovoked and pre-planned assault on a young man causing him significant injury.' Gray submitted his guilty plea in February but the sentencing was delayed on various occasions for reports.

JetBlue plane passengers 'performed sex act mid-flight in front of kids'
The couple are being prosecuted over the alleged incident. A couple performed a sex act in the middle of a flight, it has been claimed. Trista L Reilly and Christopher Drew Arnold are said to have been intimate with each other as kids watched on. They were arrested following the flight in question and are now being prosecuted over the alleged incident, which is said to have taken place on July 19, 2025. Court papers claim a flight attendant spotted 43-year-old Reilly "making up-and-down movements with her head while she was face down on Mr Arnold's lap". The legal documents state that the JetBlue flight attendant in question had been approached at 10:28am that morning by a mother travelling with her two children. The two children allegedly directly saw Reilly and Arnold, from Connecticut, engaged in the act. The couple were arrested at 11:30am shortly after the plane landed at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, according to ABC affiliate WWSB. They were both charged with two counts lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of minors, which is a felony. They were released without bail and are due to be arraigned in court on August 15, the CT Post reported. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The New York Post reports police records from Danbury, Connecticut, show 42-year-old Arnold was arrested in March for disorderly conduct and assault. JetBue told the Mirror that the alleged behaviour on the flight - from John F Kennedy International Airport in New York to Sarasota, Florida - was "completely unacceptable" and is "not tolerated" by the airline. The company said: "Immediately upon receiving the report, our crew members acted swiftly to engage JetBlue's security team and law enforcement. We are fully cooperating with the investigation and these customers are no longer welcome to fly JetBlue." It comes after a light aircraft nosedived into a highway in Brescia, Italy, killing two people onboard. Cars were seen driving through the ensuing fireball. The plane can be seen rapidly falling to the ground in a steep descent. Miraculously, the aircraft managed to miss all of the cars and other vehicles on the Corda Molle at the time. Two people onboard the aircraft, a 75-year-old lawyer from Milan named Sergio Ravaglia and his female partner Anna Maria De Stefano, 50, are reported to have died. The crash occurred after midday on Tuesday after the plane took off from the Gagnano Trebbiense runway in the Piacenza region, Italian broadcasting channel Sky TG24 said. Officials investigating the incident involving the 'ultralight' plane have said it will be difficult to determine what caused the crash. Claudio Nolli, 49, was also driving nearby. She said she had entered a ring road close to the crash when flames suddenly erupted in her eye line. She said: 'I entered the ring road and saw a burst of flame, without understanding what had happened. "I had a truck in front of me and I crashed into it, passing through the flames. Then there was a loud bang, it was a ball of fire. I never thought something like this could happen to me. "At the time, I assumed the truck in front of me had lost something; I had no idea it was a plane. I had seen it in the air before, but I realized later. For twenty seconds, it missed me too."
