Glen Powell to star in Ron Howard's new firefighter movie

, the star of Twisters and Top Gun: Maverick, is all set to lead an upcoming firefighter drama directed by
Ron Howard
.
According to Deadline, the news was confirmed by Amazon MGM Studios.
As per the publication, the untitled film will be based on a story written by Christina Hodson.
It will follow two childhood friends who have grown apart but are forced to come together again when deadly fires break out across Texas.
Both are now elite firefighters, and the crisis pushes them to face their past and reconnect.
Ron Howard, known for the hit 1991 firefighter film Backdraft, returns to the genre with this project. The film is being produced by Imagine Entertainment's
Brian Grazer
, Ron Howard, and Jeb Brody, along with Powell's production company Barnstorm.
Powell himself is also on board as a producer.
Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and Birds of Prey, will serve as executive producer. She has also worked on several major Hollywood films and franchises.
Powell recently received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Netflix's Hit Man. He is also involved in several upcoming projects, including the series Chad Powers, which he co-created and stars in, and The Running Man, directed by
Edgar Wright
. He has also wrapped filming on Huntington and is currently working on a new film with JJ Abrams.

Taylor Russell exits Michael B Jordans re-imagined Steve McQueen film The Thomas Crown Affair
Washington DC [US], July 20 (ANI): Actress Taylor Russell has exited 'The Thomas Crown Affair', the Michael B. Jordan-directed reimagining of the classic Steve McQueen film. Sources said the exit was due to creative differences. The studio is recasting the role as production continues in London, reported Deadline. Russell was cast opposite Jordan in the role of an insurance investigator who suspects that an adventurous banking executive is pulling off ambitious heists, and sparks develop between them. This role was played by Faye Dunaway opposite McQueen in the 1968 original, and by Rene Russo opposite Pierce Brosnan in the 1999 version, according to Deadline. She's also a director who made her debut co-directing 'The Heart Still Hums', which won Best Documentary Short at the Palm Springs ShortFest. Jordan stars in 'The Thomas Crown Affair' alongside Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbaek and Aiysha Hart. Washington DC [US], July 20 (ANI): Actor Mehcad Brooks is departing NBC's 'Law & Order' after three seasons as Detective Jalen Shaw ahead of the venerable crime drama's upcoming 25th season, reported Deadline According to sources of Deadline, the parting of the ways was mutual, with Brooks already exploring other opportunities. The rest of the 'Law & Order' main cast, including Tony Goldwyn and Reid Scott, whose contracts were up at the end of last season, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi and Maura Tierney, are set to come back, sources said. As Deadline reported in May, most actors on NBC's 'Law & Order' and Chicago franchises will be in fewer episodes next season as part of a cost-saving measure. Brooks stepped in as a detective on 'Law & Order' in 2022, filling the void left by the departure of Anthony Anderson. Casting of a new detective has just gotten underway. 'Law & Order' is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Rick Eid, Alex Hall and Peter Jankowski.
