Congress won't allow rewriting of Constitution: CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday hit out at RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale for pitching for the removal of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' from the Preamble of the Constitution.
'This is not a casual remark. It is part of a long-standing agenda to reshape India's democracy in their ideological image,' Siddaramaiah said, adding that the statement has come from a leader of the RSS, which is like the high command for the BJP. 'I urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his views in this regard to the nation,' Siddaramaiah added.
The CM said that when the Constitution was formed, the words 'socialist' and 'secular' were not there in the Preamble. But then, RSS started targeting on secularism and socialism, and the then PM Indira Gandhi had to amend and included these two words, which has been accepted by people,' he said.
The CM alleged that RSS refused to accept the Constitution when it was adopted. 'Then RSS chief MS Golwalkar praised the Manusmriti as a more authentic guide for India's culture and rejected democracy and equality as Western imports. This is the organisation now claiming to protect Indian values,' Siddaramaiah added. He said before asking others to apologise for history, RSS must first explain why it rejected the very Constitution that protects the rights of all Indians today.

These modules have enhanced both contingents' ability to operate effectively in contested electromagnetic environments, significantly augmenting modern battlefield readiness. A key highlight of the engagement was the successful conduct of a high-intensity 96-hour joint field exercise, simulating multi-domain operations under sustained, high-pressure conditions. This phase tested endurance, decision-making, and coordination across command levels, yielding critical insights into joint mission execution, tactical flexibility, and cross-functional integration. Following this phase, the Indian contingent was visited by Sanjeev Singla, Ambassador of India to France and Monaco, who interacted with the troops, lauded their professionalism, and acknowledged their contribution to strengthening India-France defence cooperation. His visit provided a significant morale boost and reaffirmed India's commitment to its enduring strategic partnership with France. Exercise SHAKTI-VIII has reaffirmed itself as a vital platform for the exchange of best practices, the development of integrated operational capabilities, and the deepening of military-to-military trust. West Bengal: Another key accused arrested in Kaliganj blast case, says police
Nadia (West Bengal) [India], June 28 (ANI): The West Bengal police have arrested another key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case in the Molandi area of Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station limits. The blast, which resulted in the tragic death of a minor girl, has now led to the arrest of a total of 9 individuals connected to the case. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Gaowal SK. 'In a late-night development, Gaowal SK, one of the key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case, was arrested by the Police. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached nine, out of the 24 individuals named in the FIR,' the West Bengal police said in an official statement. Earlier, on June 24, Krishnanagar police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. The arrested accused were Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk, and Anwar Sk. 'In an incident of explosion at Molandi, Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station area, which led to the death of a minor girl, 4 prime accused persons were arrested yesterday- Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk and Anwar Sk. Kaliganj PS Case No. 534/25 dt 23.06.25 u/s 191(2)/191(3)/190/118(2)/109/305/103 BNS & 3/4 ES Act is registered. Investigation and legal proceedings are underway,' the police said in a post on X. On June 25, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya made serious allegations regarding the blast, termed it as a 'well-thought-out attack' rather than a mere bomb blast, further claiming that the family targeted in the incident was not a voter or supporter of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). 'It was not a bomb explosion. It was a well-thought-out attack. The family on which the bomb was dropped is not a Trinamool Congress voter or a supporter. They were identified, then the bomb was thrown at father of the deceased child is saying that he is giving 24 hours' time and if there is no solution, then he will demand a CBI inquiry,' BJP MP said. A 13-year-old girl died in a bomb explosion during a victory procession organised by Trinamool Congress in Kaliganj police station area after the party swept Kaliganj Assembly bypoll. In a post on X, West Bengal police confirmed that the 13-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries sustained from the explosion. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock over the incident and directed police to 'take strong and decisive legal action' against the culprits. (ANI)

RSS to complete 100 years in October, celebrations to begin from August 26
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has announced plans to organise Hindu conferences and public outreach programs across the country as part of its centenary year celebrations. Celebrations will begin on August 26 with a lecture series by RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat.(PTI) The RSS will complete 100 years of its establishment on Vijayadashami this year. To mark this milestone, celebrations will begin on August 26 with a lecture series by RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, which will take place in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. For its centenary year, the RSS has set a goal to reach every block in every state across the country. The organisation considers its local branches (shakhas) its greatest strength and aims to increase the number of shakhas to over one lakh this year. This information was shared by Anil Gupta, Delhi Prant Karyavah, Delhi RSS, during the Dev Rishi Narad Journalism Awards ceremony. He stated that the centenary year celebrations would be inaugurated on August 26 with a three-day lecture series by Mohan Bhagwat in the four major metros. "If the RSS were to be described in one word, it would be 'belongingness'," Bhagwat said, adding that this feeling must grow stronger in society. "If the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were to be described in just one word, that word would be 'belongingness'. What does the Sangh do? It organises Hindus. And this growing sense of belongingness should be further strengthened because the entire world is sustained by it," he added. Bhagwat said that real unity comes from recognising the common thread that connects everyone. Humans, unlike animals, have the ability to rise above selfishness, he explained. "The one who understands this belongingness is truly human," he said.
