Sanford bar shooting results in two more arrests
Adonijah Lafrazier McLain, 22, of Greensboro and Justice Christian Harrington, 26, of Winston-Salem each face charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and carrying a concealed weapon.
Sanford police arrested McLain on July 3 and Harrington on July 2, according to eCourts. The shootings stem from an incident around 1:55 a.m. outside Schooly's Bar and Billiards in the 100 block of East Trade Street, according to a previous Sanford Herald report. The incident began as a dispute that erupted in gunfire between several people. Six people were injured.
McLain, who formerly lived on Kathleen Terrace, southwest of Barbecue, north of Carolina Lakes Golf Course in Harnett County, was charged with assaulting Harrington, Sean Dimitris Matthews Jr., 26, and Si'Anna Smith, 25.
Matthews, of 805 Lower Moncure Road, northeast of Sanford, and Urbano Garcia-Sanchez, 26, of 2109 Louise St. in Sanford, were charged and arrested shortly after the June 7 incident.
Matthews was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a weapon into an occupied property. He posted a $125,000 bond on June 13.
Garcia-Sanchez was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He posted a $100,000 bond on June 9.
McLain is being held in the Lee County Jail with a bond of $750,000.
He has charges pending in Lee County for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a public officer stemming from May 22, 2024. He also has charges pending in Cumberland County for expired tag and an equipment violation stemming from April 7, 2025.
McLain was convicted of carrying a concealed gun in Harnett County stemming from Feb. 16, 2022. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail with credit for time served.
He was also convicted of carrying a concealed gun in Lee County stemming from May 28, 2023 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a $688 fine, which as of July 11 he had not paid. In the latter case, charges of possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a Schedule 2 drug and drug paraphernalia were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Details of Harrington's alleged assault were not available in eCourts.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Mecklenburg County Jail in Charlotte.
Harrington was convicted of discharging a weapon into an occupied property in Harnett County stemming from Feb. 6, 2018. Another similar charge was dismissed, along with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle. Details of those incidents were not available in eCourts.
However, Harrington and Joel Isiah Tutt were charged after a 14-year-old boy in a home on Kathleen Terrace was shot in the stomach and survived, according to CBS17.com.

Bath Township police officers placed on leave after tasing, shooting at suspect
BATH TWP. — At least two Bath Township police officers were placed on paid administrative leave after shooting at and tasing a male offender terrorizing township residents on July 12, at one point holding a knife to a resident's throat . Injuries of victims were treated at the scene, and the offender arrested is in stable condition at a University of Michigan Health – Sparrow hospital, the Bath Township Police Department said on its Facebook page regarding an 'officer-involved shooting.' Police did not provide an age or hometown of the suspect but said officers were not injured. The Michigan State Police is investigating the incident, which is routine for officer-involved shootings. Bath police said in their release that officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of Heathfield Drive, east of Park Lake Road and near Pine Hollow Drive, at about 2:27 p.m. because a 'suspicious individual' was walking through yards and trying to break into vehicles. A caller said the suspect entered a garage at a neighbor's residence and wasn't seen departing. Soon after, a second caller from the 16000 block of Nichols Road, also near Pine Hollow Drive, told dispatchers 'that he had been stabbed by an unknown person who entered his home. ' Officers were able to enter the Nichols Road home. 'The offender held the victim hostage with a knife to the victim's throat,' police said. 'During the encounter, the offender separated from the victim and fled out of a side door of the residence. The offender was still in possession of the knife and began running from the scene.' Officers ordered the offender to stop, but he continued running towards the Meadows neighborhood. 'Both officers on scene discharged their service weapons,' police said. The offender was able to enter an English Oak Drive residence, locking the door behind him. Officers yelled and kicked at the door, and a resident was able to go to the front door to be removed and evacuated from the home, uninjured and unaware the offender was inside. The offender fled again. 'One officer discharged his service weapon as the offender entered the neighbor's garage,' police said 'Officers apprehended the offender after a short struggle. A taser was deployed, and the offender was taken into custody. 'Officers on scene immediately rendered aid to the injured offender and requested emergency medical services.' Police said all of the victims were treated on the scene. 'We believe this incident is contained and there is no ongoing threat to the public,' police said. 'The Bath Township officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.' Police were not immediately available for further comment. Check back for updates. Shooting at Tennessee class reunion leaves 4 hospitalized
Four people were hospitalized Saturday after a shooting erupted at a class reunion in Tennessee, according to authorities and local reports. Police in Chattanooga responded to a report of multiple people shot at the Tyner Community Center, the Chattanooga Police Department said. Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a local hospital. Police said there was no active threat to the public, though they did not say whether a suspect was arrested. One individual was seen being placed in the back of a police car, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. No further details about the person were immediately available. It was bad," witness Jeoff Herman told the station. Another witness told WTVC-TV that he rushed to the aid of a girl on the ground after she was shot. "They covered all the bullet wounds, kept her from bleeding out," Dominic Burkes said. "And I covered the sun off her face and made sure I held her hand and made sure she was OK." The circumstances leading up to the shooting were unclear. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information would be released when available.
