Amitabh Bachchan
. The veteran filmmaker died at the age of 86 in Mumbai on Sunday after a prolonged battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
As tributes pour in, megastar Amitabh Bachchan expressed his deep grief in a heartfelt blog post, remembering Barot not just as a director but as a dear family friend.

On Sunday, Chandra Barot passed away at a Bandra hospital. The Times of India was informed of his passing by his wife, Deepa Barot. He had spent the previous seven years fighting pulmonary fibrosis, she said. At Guru Nanak Hospital, the filmmaker was receiving care from physician Manish Shetty.

During Roti Kapda Aur Makaan's filming, Chandra, Manoj Kumar's longtime assistant director, grew close to Amitabh and Zeenat. After that, they worked with him on Don, and Amitabh still cherishes the memories of their time together.
Added details about Don
On May 12, 1978, the movie Don was released, starring Amitabh Bachchan in two roles: that of a lookalike villager and a mafia don. Due to its memorable dialogue, intense action scenes, and catchy music, it became a huge hit and set its status as a cult classic.
It tells the tale of a wanted criminal who died from his wounds sustained during a police chase. When Vijay, a Don lookalike, takes his place and attempts to learn more about his illegal activities, things take a different turn. Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar wrote the action thriller, and Nariman Irani produced it.
Film fans are still fascinated with the movie, and Farhan Akhtar's reimagined Don franchise has brought the classic a new and modern spin. Ranveer Singh is now getting ready to take over after

John Cena Reflects On Post-Attitude Era Challenge, Credits WWE's Revival To This Man

John Cena is arguably the most recognized name in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). However, before the rise of Cena, WWE had undergone challenging times in terms of its growth and popularity, particularly after the end of the Attitude Era. Then a part of WWF (World Wrestling Federation), the era, which existed in the late 1990s and early 2000s, featured stunning adult-oriented storylines, spearheaded by stars like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock and Triple H. However, after the departures of Steve Austina and The Rock, WWE's popularity suffered a dip, before being resurrected by the likes of Cena and late wrestler Eddie Guerrero. Cena paid tribute to Guerrero in a recent fan interaction, highlighting the latter's role in bringing WWE back to the top. "WWE went through a boom in the Attitude Era and then all those guys, we fired Stone Cold. The Rock left, The Undertaker got hurt, we changed the name, the XFL failed. There was a lot of upside down stuff. We started SmackDown and it had Kurt Angle as its anchor, but we brought Eddie Guerrero and a bunch of (new guys) like Edge and me and a bunch of other new guys and people trying to find their way," John Cena said, speaking during the FAN EXPO in Denver. "Eddie was our champion for for a certain period of time. And he used to tell me that it is the night when the fewest people show up that you have to work 10 times as hard because the presence in that area isn't as strong," Cena further said, hailing Guerrero. The Attitude Era was followed by the toned-down Ruthless Aggression Era, where the likes of Eddie Guerrero played a leading role. Eventually, John Cena rose to popularity, taking advantage of the platform built by Guerrero and co.

Akanksha Puri is all set to return to the digital screen with the OTT series Rose Garden. In the show, she will star alongside Niyati Fatnani. The actresses will be seen portraying sisters in what promises to be an intense and emotionally layered drama. With the promo already generating buzz online, fans have flooded social media with excitement and best wishes to the duo. Recently, Akanksha Puri opened up about her role and how her family reacted to the trailer. In an interview with the Times of India, Akanksha Puri said, 'It's an intense, thrilling, gripping show with so many emotional shades and nuanced layers to all the characters. Rose Garden has romance, pain, passion, and betrayal—everything in the right balance. I feel audiences will connect deeply with its rawness and relatability because it is very real and doesn't sugarcoat relationships or emotions." Meet Akanksha Puri's Character Geet In Rose Garden Reflecting her character in the show and what made her say 'yes,' Akanksha said that Geet is a bold and complex character that captivated her from the start. 'What drew me to Geet was her fearless honesty. She is bold, rebellious, and unapologetic about her choices, yet extremely vulnerable when it comes to love and family. She doesn't care about what society thinks, but deep down, she is seeking acceptance," she said. Diving deeper into her character, the actress added, 'I found Geet's journey fascinating because she is full of contrasts—she can fight the world yet breaks down alone. To interpret her depth, I tried to understand what her dreams are, where her pain comes from, and why she reacts so impulsively. I believe every action has an emotion behind it, and showing that honestly was my main aim." With Rose Garden, Akanksha is ready to show fans a new side of her acting prowess. Akanksha Puri's Workslate Talking about Akanksha Puri's professional life, the actress was most recently seen in the anthology show Hasratein 2. Streaming on Hungama, Akanksha played a strong and determined wrestler, with braided hair, barely-there makeup, and a muscular look. Besides Hasratein 2, she has also appeared in the Bhojpuri music video Licensee opposite Neelkamal Singh. Within a week of release, the song went immensely viral and earned over 3 million views on YouTube. First Published: July 22, 2025, 17:43 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
