Delhi University to release 2nd round of UG seat allocation on Monday
The upcoming list is expected to reflect significant internal reshuffling as more than 43,000 candidates have opted for upgrading their seats after the first round of admissions.
According to DU officials, the second list will incorporate these preferences alongside new seat vacancies, paving the way for thousands of students to switch colleges or programmes based on merit and availability.
The DU had earlier made 93,166 seat allocations against 71,624 undergraduate seats across 69 colleges and 79 programmes. As of now, 62,565 candidates have confirmed their admission.
While 16,126 candidates have chosen to freeze their seats, a large majority –� 43,741 — have opted for upgrades. These students are now waiting for the second round, hoping for movement to their preferred colleges or programmes.
The upgrade and reordering window for the current round will remain open till 4:59 pm on July 25. Candidates can also check the latest list of vacant seats on DU's admission portal.
The CSAS-UG process uses CUET-UG scores along with college and programme preferences, category reservations and other eligibility criteria for allocations. Seats have been allotted across multiple categories, including Unreserved, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Kashmiri Migrants, Sikh Minority, Single Girl Child and Orphan.
Meanwhile, performance-based courses, such as Hindustani Music, Karnataka Music, Percussion Music, Physical Education and Fine Arts, will see allocations in the third round. Candidates for these programmes are advised to follow college-specific websites for the trial schedules.
The academic session for first-year students is scheduled to commence from August 1. PTI MHS RC

Briefing reporters after a meeting of the state cabinet Monday night, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress government has decided to garner support from all friendly parties at the national level, including Members of Parliament across party lines for providing 42 per cent reservation to Backward Classes (BCs) in local body polls and in education and employment opportunities. 'The chief minister is seeking appointment of opposition leaders in Parliament on August 5, 6 and 7. The Congress party along with its friendly parties and their members in Parliament, Telangana MLAs,MLCs and BC intellectuals will go to Delhi and request the President (for assent)," Prabhakar said adding ministers also would seek President Murmu's appointment. Top leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are also seeking the President's appointment, he added. The bills were passed in March and sent to the Governor and it is pending assent from the President. Prabhakar sought support from all the political parties in Telangana in order to secure Presidential assent to the bills. The Telangana government earlier this month issued an ordinance facilitating 42 per cent reservation to Backward Classes in local body polls by amending an Act that was passed by the State Assembly in 2018. On June 25, the Telangana High Court directed the state government to hold elections for local bodies within three months. Maharashtra Govt's New Guidelines Bar Staff From Criticising Policies On Social Media
Last Updated: Maharashtra government employees can't criticize policies and must keep separate social media accounts for work and personal use. Violations will lead to disciplinary action. Maharashtra government employees have been barred from criticising current or past policies of the state or any other government in the country, according to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI). The new social media guidelines, issued through a Government Resolution (GR) on Monday, apply to all state government employees, including those in local bodies, public sector undertakings and contract staff. As per the PTI report, the GR states that employees must maintain separate social media accounts for official and personal use. Personal accounts should not carry anything beyond the employee's photograph and are barred from using designations, government logos, images of uniforms, office buildings or official vehicles. The GR also prohibits employees from using mobile applications banned by either the state or the Centre. Violations will invite disciplinary action under the Maharashtra Civil Service Conduct Rules, 1979. While officers are allowed to highlight good work done by them, they have been advised to avoid self-praise. Employees are expected to use social media responsibly and refrain from downloading or circulating content that is objectionable, defamatory, discriminatory, or likely to incite hatred. No confidential files or documents may be uploaded, forwarded or shared, even partially, without official permission, the PTI report said. Employees have also been directed to hand over official social media accounts to their successors upon retirement or transfer.
