New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) released the second list of allocations for its undergraduate admissions on Monday, with a total of 87,335 students allotted seats across colleges and programmes under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) 2025. According to the university, the fresh round saw 24,843 new allocations, while 27,314 students were upgraded to higher preferences, reflecting significant internal reshuffling after the first round. Additionally, 17,922 candidates chose to freeze their previously allotted seats. The changes came after 43,741 students opted for upgrades following the first list, which saw 93,166 seat offers made for the 71,624 available UG seats across 69 colleges and 79 programmes. Of these, 62,565 candidates confirmed their admissions. DU officials said the second list accommodates not just fresh preferences but also considers newly vacated seats, giving thousands of aspirants another opportunity to secure their preferred colleges or programmes. The upgrade and reordering window for the second round was open till 4:59 pm on July 25. The admissions are being conducted based on the CUET-UG scores, along with factors like category reservations, programme choices and eligibility. Seats have been allotted across various categories, including Unreserved, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Kashmiri Migrants, Sikh Minority, Single Girl Child and Orphan. Meanwhile, the DU said the allocation for performance-based courses, such as Hindustani Music, Karnataka Music, Percussion Music, Physical Education and Fine Arts, will take place in the third round. Students applying to these programmes are advised to monitor the college websites for the trial and evaluation schedules. The academic session for first-year students is set to begin from August 1.

There was no immediate response available from the varsity over the allegations. This will be the first batch of students to enter the fourth year under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF), a component of the National Education Policy (NEP). However, teachers claim they are still awaiting clarity on the final syllabus, despite the proposals being approved in Executive Council meetings held on May 23 and July 12.

As of 9:40 pm on July 20, a total of 14,939 applications had been approved by colleges. The first CSAS-UG allocation list was released at 5 pm on July 20. This year, the university has made 93,166 seat allocations against 71,624 total undergraduate seats, suggesting that internal shifting and reallocations are likely in subsequent rounds, as seen in previous admission cycles. A senior university official told PTI that the high number of allocations is based on trends from previous years, where many students move across colleges. The allocations span 79 undergraduate programmes across 69 colleges, covering various categories such as General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, Sikh Minority, PwBD, Kashmiri Migrants, Single Girl Child, and Orphan (male and female). In category-wise allocation data, the university reported that 1,325 seats were allotted under the Single Girl Child category and 259 seats to orphan candidates, including 127 females and 132 males. The university stated that the response to the first list was immediate. Within two hours of release, 27,533 candidates had accepted their allocated seats. The deadline for accepting the seat is 4:59 pm on July 21, followed by college-level verification and approval by 4:59 pm on July 22, and fee payment by 4:59 pm on July 23. In terms of programme preferences, BCom (Hons) emerged as the most sought-after undergraduate course, receiving 19,90,966 selections across colleges. This was followed by: –BCom – 15,26,403 preferences –BA (Hons) English – 12,23,388 preferences –BA (Hons) Political Science – 9,96,868 preferences –BA (Hons) History – 7,72,029 preferences Out of the total number of applicants, 2,39,890 candidates completed the process by submitting their college and programme preferences.
