Rylan Clark has confessed that the glare of fame has dampened his dating life, as he admits to being solitary and only going on two dates in the past couple of years.
The 36 year old TV and radio personality enjoys a night out at bars and clubs but hesitates to approach potential interests due to his public profile. In a candid chat with 67 year old psychotherapist Philippa Perry on his podcast 'Rylan: How to Be in Love', he shared: "I've genuinely been in a situation where I've been in a bar, and I've looked at someone across the way.
"They've looked at me, I've looked at them, and I would never feel confident going up to someone because of my job. I think, 'Are they looking at me because I'm Rylan, or are they looking at me because they think, he's alright?"
Since parting ways with his husband Dan Neal in 2021, the BBC Radio 2 presenter has experienced loneliness while living by himself for the first time ever, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Rylan revealed: "For the past few years, I have been on my own, in the sense of living on my own, which is something I've never done in my entire life. But I have got to the point where I've got my 'SSB', my Secret Single Behaviour, where I might talk to the coffee machine in the morning and go, 'Of course you want me to empty the drip trays!'"
Rylan Clark has candidly opened up about his personal quirks and love life post-divorce, revealing what he seeks in a partner. The TV personality, who split from his husband Dan, has been back on the dating scene, even embarking on blind dates in Italy with his mate Rob Rinder, 47, for their BBC Two series 'Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour'.
In a frank admission, Rylan shared his unique outlook: "You know, it winds me up, but I will say it out loud. Some people might think I'm unwell. I'm not, it's my Secret Single Behaviour."
He also disclosed the qualities he desires in a potential partner: "I want two things out of someone; one is that you make me laugh and don't make me cry. And the other one is when I walk into the house, or you walk into the house, you ask me or I ask you, 'How was your day?'".

This week, EastEnders has been demoted from its regular BBC One slot onto sister channel, BBC Two. Despite usually airing Monday-Thursday at 7:30pm on the main BBC channel, fans will instead see two episodes broadcast on just Monday and Tuesday on BBC Two. On Monday, EastEnders will air an episode at 7pm followed by another episode at 7:30pm as a result of Wimbledon taking over BBC One. The same scheduling pattern will then occur on Tuesday 1st July. ITV will also begin to be affected by the chaos on Tuesday with Emmerdale airing an extended one-hour edition. It will directly rival EastEnders with the episode being brought forward to kick-off at 7pm. From Thursday the 3rd of July, fans will be left with no soap content for days with ITV and BBC pulling all their coverage across Thursday and Friday. Emmerdale and Coronation Street will both be bumped from air as a result of the UEFA Women's Euro matches. But its fans of EastEnders that will suffer the most. The soap won't air again until the 9th July. The chaos as expected to continue throughout July as a result of the many sporting events. It's the most wonderful feeling you can imagine. I count myself lucky that from age 2 I've had that joy. In Fergie, Norman, Ollie and now Benji." Benji is the new goldendoodle puppy that Gemma and her fiance Gorka Marquez welcomed into their lives last month. She continued: "I know Norm and Ollie played a part in sending him to us. Even from another realm they knew we needed him. Especially Mia. She was struggling and they helped her heal. Benji has helped her heal. "So to those who ask me about losing a pet, I say the pain never truly fades, but I believe it's because they take a small piece of our heart with them - a little memento reminding us that we're their human, and just as we remember and talk about them, they do the same about us." The Script pay tribute to late guitarist Mark Sheehan during Glastonbury set
Guitarist Sheehan died aged 46 after a brief illness in April 2023 and had formed the band alongside O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power. A post shared by BBC Radio 2 (@bbcradio2) During their performance on the Pyramid Stage, O'Donoghue said: 'There's one person I really wish was here to see this. He was on this stage 17 years ago. We lost my best mate and the founding member of the script, Mark Sheehan. 'We lost him nearly a year and a half ago. I just wanted to thank every single person here for keeping us going, for all your thoughts and all your prayers. Thank you so much. 'I know he's having a whisky right now looking down on us.' He went on to dedicate the band's song If You Could See Me Now to Sheehan. The Script was formed in Dublin in 2001. Their eponymous debut album was released in 2008 and it went to number one in both the UK and Ireland. It featured hits such as We Cry, Breakeven, and The Man Who Can't Be Moved, with the latter peaking at number two in the UK singles charts. Among their other studio albums are chart-topping LPs Science And Faith (2010) and Freedom Child (2017). Their most recent studio album, Satellites, was released in August 2024. O'Donoghue, 44, is also known for being one of the original coaches on reality TV competition series The Voice UK.
