Rylan Clark 'ran from mum' and thought 'I'm going to perish' after huge decision
Rylan Clark admitted he 'ran' from his mum and thought he was 'going to perish' in a field after making a huge life decision. On his How To Be in Love podcast, the 36-year-old explained he never thought he would tell his mum Linda that he is gay. He admits it 'wasn't something on his radar' as a young teenager. And while Rylan's friends all knew, the star felt too nervous to address the conversation with his mother. Although one day, aged 15, Rylan says he knew it was the day that he was going to broach the conversation with Linda. READ MORE: Brooklyn Beckham reaches out to family for first time amid feud READ MORE: David Beckham in hospital as Victoria shares picture of star with four-word message He said: 'My friends knew, I'd be going out, I was 15, still at school, I was around one of my friend's houses, and my friend's mum knew, I'd sort of let her know in ways, and whatever, and my mum came to pick me up from her house, I got in the car with my mum, very normal, like I normally would, and the second I shut the door, it was like my heart went just like that, and it come over me and I was hot. 'I knew from nowhere, it was like a baseball around the head, I'm going to tell her I'm gay. It was a half-hour drive from my friend's house to where I was living with my mum and I didn't speak the whole way. 'I could feel it coming, we pulled up on the drive, she went, 'Are you getting out?' I went, 'mum', she went, 'What?' I went [stutters], and she went, 'F****** hell' and just shut the door.' Rylan says he then phoned his friend and asked if her mum would tell Linda that he was gay. He however wanted to stay on the phone to his friend to listen to the conversation. Rylan said he overheard his friend's mum saying 'no Linda, no,' which prompted him to 'run'. He explained: 'In that moment I dropped the phone because I've just heard my friend's mum go, 'No Linda no'. 'I've got out the car, it was p***** it down and I'm running. I ended up in this field that I'd never been to, in the p****** down rain, sitting there like [crying], 'I'm homeless'. After three hours, genuinely, I thought I've got to go home, I'm literally going to perish. I'm that cold.' Rylan said he returned home and discovered his mum found his phone. He immediately rang his friend again to speak to her. It was then he discovered what prompted his friend's mum to shout 'No Linda'. Rylan explained: 'My mum went, 'Don't tell me he's got a girl pregnant'. So my friend's mum went, 'No Linda, no he's gay' and my mum went, 'Oh alright'.' Rylan says his mum then asked if he wanted to discuss the conversation she'd had with his friend's mum. Only for Rylan to simply reply, 'no', to which she replied 'okay then'. Rylan and Linda are currently appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox together. The show airs from 9pm on Channel 4 tonight (June 27).

Rylan Clark says 'they won't listen' as he questions 'decision' by BBC bosses
Rylan Clark has presented his BBC Radio 2 show since 2019 when he replaced Zoe Ball, but he says he has pitched another idea to bosses at the radio station Rylan Clark says BBC bosses 'won't listen' as he questioned a 'decision' made by the broadcaster. The 36-year-old has been presenting his Saturday afternoon slot on BBC Radio 2 since 2019. He replaced presenter Zoe Ball when she moved to the station's coveted breakfast slot. Zoe, 54, has however since left the show and been replaced by Scott Mills. Rylan however continues to broadcast to the nation as well as fronting a series of podcasts for the BBC. He however hinted that he believes he would be perfect for another role at the station. Although he joked that his pleas to BBC bosses had so far fallen on deaf ears. He made the revelation as he flashed his geography skills at the weekend. During the bulletin, traffic presenter Sally Boazman asked: 'The A13 Stanford-Le-Hope bypass, eastbound, is partly blocked between Stanford-le-Hope and a place called Fobbing, does that exist? Is there a place called Fobbing?' 'Yeah, it's basically the Basildon turn-off,' responded Essex boy Rylan. He added: 'It's a little village on the outskirts of Corringham.' Sally responded: 'You should do the traffic really, shouldn't you?' To which Rylan joked: 'I should. I've been saying this for years but they won't listen.' Before working in radio, Rylan rose to fame when he appeared on the X Factor in 2012. He was eliminated in the quarter final as James Arthur went on to win the competition. Just weeks later however, Rylan was whisked away to the Celebrity Big Brother house. He won over the nation and was crowned the winner, ahead of reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. He later went on to work as a reporter on This Morning as well as presenting Big Brother's Bit on the Side. Since 2018 he has commentated on the semi-finals of Eurovision alongside fellow Radio 2 star Scott. Earlier this year Rylan won a BAFTA for his documentary Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour, which saw him travelling around Italy with Rob Rinder. Rylan described the show as 'two gay guys, going through a divorce' after he split from ex-husband Dan Neal in 2021, and Rob split from his own husband in 2018. Speaking to the Mirror and other press, Rylan said: "The show, it happened at a really weird time for me. I wasn't fully over some of the breakdown of my marriage and stuff like that. I was flung with a judge. It was the best therapy I needed. "The journey, and I hate that word in telly, from when we meet and how raw I was at that time. It was like being an adolescent again and starting again but with cameras there. 'Everyone who worked on the show made it look exactly how it was. They didn't try to make it look good.' The pair will return with a follow-up series, Rob and Rylan's Passage to India, which is set for release in autumn.

Rylan Clark has admitted he's been 'on his own' for the past few years and only been on two dates in the last two years as he opened up about his single life and candidly opened up about his personal quirks Rylan Clark has confessed that the glare of fame has dampened his dating life, as he admits to being solitary and only going on two dates in the past couple of years. The 36 year old TV and radio personality enjoys a night out at bars and clubs but hesitates to approach potential interests due to his public profile. In a candid chat with 67 year old psychotherapist Philippa Perry on his podcast 'Rylan: How to Be in Love', he shared: "I've genuinely been in a situation where I've been in a bar, and I've looked at someone across the way. "They've looked at me, I've looked at them, and I would never feel confident going up to someone because of my job. I think, 'Are they looking at me because I'm Rylan, or are they looking at me because they think, he's alright?" Since parting ways with his husband Dan Neal in 2021, the BBC Radio 2 presenter has experienced loneliness while living by himself for the first time ever, reports the Manchester Evening News. Rylan revealed: "For the past few years, I have been on my own, in the sense of living on my own, which is something I've never done in my entire life. But I have got to the point where I've got my 'SSB', my Secret Single Behaviour, where I might talk to the coffee machine in the morning and go, 'Of course you want me to empty the drip trays!'" Rylan Clark has candidly opened up about his personal quirks and love life post-divorce, revealing what he seeks in a partner. The TV personality, who split from his husband Dan, has been back on the dating scene, even embarking on blind dates in Italy with his mate Rob Rinder, 47, for their BBC Two series 'Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour'. In a frank admission, Rylan shared his unique outlook: "You know, it winds me up, but I will say it out loud. Some people might think I'm unwell. I'm not, it's my Secret Single Behaviour." He also disclosed the qualities he desires in a potential partner: "I want two things out of someone; one is that you make me laugh and don't make me cry. And the other one is when I walk into the house, or you walk into the house, you ask me or I ask you, 'How was your day?'".
