Paige Bueckers Jokes She Got 'Set Up' Into Revealing Her Relationship with Azzi Fudd

Bueckers first revealed her and Fudd's romance when she was asked to answer questions about her former college teammate ahead of the 2025 WNBA All-Star WeekendPaige Bueckers says her recent relationship reveal was a total "set up."
Before the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend, in partnership with Ally Bank, the Dallas Wings star, 23, spoke with PEOPLE about how she recently confirmed that she was in a relationship with Azzi Fudd, a fellow University of Connecticut alum and women's basketball star.
According to Bueckers, she was asked questions about her "D1 girlfriend" in an interview — and the news came out accidentally.
"That was just a setup," she joked. "I didn't even mean for that to happen, and here we are."
When asked about Fudd's phone case (decorated with the words "Paige Bueckers' Girlfriend" and noticed by some eagle-eyed fans), the WNBA star added, "It was kind of accidental, now here we are."
"We haven't officially announced anything, but it's just stuff has been happening that has it out there. So, it is what it is," the athlete said.
Bueckers revealed her relationship status when she was asked to answer questions about her former teammate, 22, in an interview with WAG Talk at a 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star event on Thursday, July 17.
"How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?" the interviewer asked, prompting a smile from Bueckers.
Soon after, the WNBA athlete correctly answered a series of questions, including the name of the high school Fudd attended, the year she was named Gatorade Player of the Year, her ranking in the class of 2021, and the year she made her first collegiate start.
Other correctly answered questions included the college basketball team that Fudd's dad played for, the basketball player she was named after, the award she won for her national championship performance, and what her phone case says.
After the WAG Talk interviewer asked, "Girlfriend reveal it's..." Bueckers replied, "Azzi Fudd."

Elsewhere in her interview, the WNBA rookie spoke about the learning curve she's faced getting into the public eye, and shared that she's figuring out how to navigate social media and her personal life every day.
"It's fun," she shared. "We're in the entertainment business, we understand the importance of the media and how they drive our sport and help bring more eyes and attention to it."
"It's a fun balance of also knowing when to stay on social media, but also knowing how important it is to go on it," Bueckers added.
Bueckers and Fudd, also a podcaster, have long been rumored to be in a relationship. After the 2025 ESPYs on Wednesday, July 16, Bueckers shared a photo of Fudd on the red carpet on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a series of hot face emojis, according to Parade.
Other instances of the two showing affection for one another have included Fudd sharing a selfie of the two wearing matching athleisure, being seen holding hands at a Wings road game and wearing matching 'A' and 'P' necklaces.

We weren't realistically expecting Oscar and John to live happily ever after as out gay men, certainly not in the late 1880s, but did their heartbreaking story really need to take yet another tragic turn? Even a life of secret trysts and unspoken love would be better than *checks sidewalk* no life at all. For what it's worth, co-showrunners Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield have no regrets about this particularly grim turn of events, as it apparently serves to propel Oscar's storyline in a significant way moving forward. That much will become clear in the next episode, once the initial shock of John's death has subsided. None of those upcoming developments 'would have been achievable if John Adams had lived,' Fellowes teases to TVLine, adding that they were 'quite careful to kill him with a straight accident, not with anything with political overtones. He's just killed in an accident, like anyone could be at any time.' 'Those shocking things are true in life,' adds Warfield. 'I've certainly experienced those traumas. They change you, and we wanted to bring about that change in Oscar.' Putting emotions aside, purely from a technical standpoint, Fellowes believes the show pulled off John's death 'quite well,' saying, 'I jumped out of my skin when I watched it for the first time.' Elsewhere in Season 3, Episode 6… Bertha made good on her promise to George, traveling to Buckingham to remind Lady Sarah who's really in charge now that Gladys and the Duke are married; rather than raking Maud across the coals, Oscar chose a more graceful path, giving her enough money to leave town and start over; furious that Larry lied about visiting an establishment of ill repute, Marian considered ending their engagement; Jack was awkwardly fired once Agnes learned how much he earned from his invention ('It's hard to believe there's a God in heaven!'); after realizing that her so-called 'psychic' is a total fraud, Ada found unexpected comfort in her sister's arms; and Peggy began to tell William about her complicated past, but he assured her that the present is far more important to him. Brittney Griner leads way as Dream hand Lynx their first home loss of the season, spoil Napheesa Collier's 32-point night
The Minnesota Lynx are perfect at home no more. Brittney Griner led the Atlanta Dream to a 90-86 win over the Lynx on Sunday to hand Minnesota its first home loss of the season. The Lynx had previously won 14 straight at home to start the 2025 campaign. The Dream had to fend off a stat-stuffing 32-point effort from Napheesa Collier and a furious late comeback effort from the Lynx to secure the win. But they did both to improve to 15-10 and keep pressure in the East on the New York Liberty (17-7), whose first-place lead over the Dream now stands at 2.5 games. The Lynx still maintain the WNBA's best record with the loss that dropped them to 22-5 and 14-1 at home. Atlanta seized early control of the game and raced out to a 46-32 lead. Griner repeatedly outmatched her opponents in the paint as Atlanta built the lead en route to 22 points, four rebounds and three assists. She scored 17 of her 22 points before halftime and finished the night shooting 8 of 13 (61.5%) from the field. The second half was a different story. Collier, who scored 11 points in the first half, took the game over after the break. Minnesota cut its 14-point halftime deficit to 60-54 by the end of the third quarter, and Collier kept the pressure on en route to 32 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks. She one-upped Griner's offensive efficiency with a 14-of-18 (77.8%) effort from the floor, including a jumper that cut Atlanta's lead to 86-89 with 11.1 seconds remaining. But Jordin Canada hit a free throw that pushed Atlanta's lead back to two possessions at 90-86 with 7 seconds remaining, and the Dream ran out of time and chances to complete the comeback. With the win, the Dream cap a six-game road trip with a 3-3 record. They'll return to Atlanta to face the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday in their first home game since July 7. They'll finish the season with a back-loaded slate of home games that features 11 of their last 19 games in Atlanta, including seven of their last nine. The Lynx will have a chance to start a new home-winning streak on Wednesday in a showdown with the Liberty featuring the two best teams in the league. The Liberty might play that game without All-Star Breanna Stewart, who's dealing with a leg injury but will reportedly travel with the team.

Royals and former All-Star pitcher Seth Lugo finalizing contract extension
One of Major League Baseball's top trade candidates is officially off the table. The Kansas City Royals are finalizing a multi-year contract extension with former All-Star right-hander Seth Lugo, per Jeff Passan. Lugo, 35, was set to hit the open market in the offseason and was heavily involved in trade rumors. The big veteran has put together another quality season for the Royals, posting a 7-5 record with a 2.95 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in 19 starts. Teams that have had interest in Lugo, like the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs, will have to shift their attention elsewhere. The 2024 All-Star was dominant last season, going 16-9 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP in 206.2 innings. Kansas City is eight-and-a-half games behind the Detroit Tigers for first place in the American League Central and four games back from the third AL Wild Card spot. Even if the Royals miss the postseason, they've extended one of the most consistent starting pitchers over the past three seasons. Though on the outside looking in, this move may spark the Royals. Kansas City has had a disappointing season thus far, but there is plenty of baseball to be played.
