Sore head? Jelena Dokic goes makeup-free and appears tired as she arrives home in Melbourne after celebrating her first Logie win
On Monday, it was back to reality for the former athlete, who appeared to be nursing a sore head from her late night at the prestigious event.
The tennis champion flew back to Melbourne from Sydney and seemed tired and a tad cranky as she made her way from the terminal.
Jelena wheeled along her pale blue carry-on case, and had two full tote bags in tow.
The 42-year-old seemed to be taking a phone call via her AirPods as she balanced her tote on her suitcase.
The sportswoman had on a glamorous makeup look the night before, but stepped out on Monday makeup-free.
The fresh-faced beauty showed off her youthful visage and trimmed-down figure in her casual ensemble, which included jeans and a cream blazer.
The night before, Jelena fought back tears as she accepted her first ever Logie Award at The Star in Sydney.
She
Jelena admitted she was in complete shock over the win, confessing she hadn't prepared a speech and had planned to simply 'wing it' if her name was called.
'Ooh! I know you said 30 seconds but I will need at least 30 to gather myself,' she began, her voice trembling.
'I'm actually in shock. I didn't think this was possible and I didn't have a speech prepared.'
'I said to my Channel Nine team and Todd that we will wing it… I underestimated this one,' she continued.
In a heartfelt address, Dokic thanked the production team, Roadshow, In Films and her close collaborators Ivan, Manny and Jessica, crediting them for believing in her story when she initially doubted it would ever make it to air.
Dokic's most powerful moment came when she dedicated the win to survivors of domestic violence and those battling mental health challenges.
'This is not about winning,' she said.
'This is a win for victims and survivors, especially of domestic violence and mental health.'
'To not just have those stories heard but for them to reclaim their lives, to find their voice and not just survive but to thrive. To do what we need to actually be able to talk about it,' she continued.
In an inspiring message to young women, she urged: 'Never allow anyone to take your worth or happiness or smile away. Believe in your goals and dreams.
'I am standing here as someone who literally had that dream. I believed in it. I didn't give up on it. If I can do it, you can do it too.'

Djokovic pulls out of Cincinnati ahead of U.S. Open
Aug 4 (Reuters) - Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open for the second consecutive year, tournament organisers confirmed to U.S. media on Monday. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has opted out of the U.S. Open warm-up tournament following consecutive semi-final exits at the French Open and Wimbledon, where he was defeated on both occasions by world number one Jannik Sinner. Djokovic also withdrew from Cincinnati last year as defending champion not long after his triumph in the singles event at the Paris Olympics. The U.S. Open will take place from August 24 to September 7 in New York City.

NCAA Tournament to remain at 68 teams this season
August 4 - The NCAA Tournament field will remain at 68 teams this season, the Division I men's and women's basketball committees decided Monday. The committees will continue to discuss whether to bring the tournament field to 72 or 76 teams ahead of the 2027 tournaments, NCAA senior vice president of basketball Dan Gavitt said in a statement. Both committees met on a joint Zoom call nearly a month after in-person meetings yielded no verdict. Proposals for March Madness to expand to 72 or 76 have been floated, but the most likely long-term decision will be whether to remain at 68 teams or increase to 76, CBS Sports reported. Expansion has been a topic of discussion for years, but logistical and financial roadblocks, as well as the fear of negative fan reception, have delayed any real prospects of increasing the field of teams. The NCAA Tournament last expanded in 2011, growing to 68 teams with the addition of the First Four. --Field Level Media

Israel Adesanya provides major update on UFC return and opens door to two mega fights amid fans' calls for retirement
ISRAEL ADESANYA is champing at the bit to return to the cage - despite some vocal fight fans calling for him to retire. The former long-reigning UFC middleweight champion is currently on a three-fight skid, the worst of his professional MMA career. 7 7 7 7 Back-to-back title fight defeats to Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis in September 2023 and last August put the Nigerian-born New Zealander in uncharted territory. And a shock second-round TKO loss to Nassourdine Imavov in February raised further doubts over the fan favourite's fighting future. Adesanya, 36, quickly dismissed the prospect of retirement but insisted he wouldn't rush back into the cage. But a brief period of R&R, 'The Last Stylebender' is "ready" to make the walk to the octagon again. In an exclusive interview with SunSport ahead of his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame, Adesanya said: "Oh yeah [the itch has returned]. 'I sparred with Kamaru [Usman] in Miami when Volk [Alexander Volkanovski] got his belt back. 'And that was my first sparring back. "I took some time out to just, you know, chill and let the brain relax. 7 'And yeah, I just knew straight away. So I've been itchy for a while, bro. I'm ready to go!' At this moment in time, there are two standout opponents for what many believe will be a must-win next outing for Adesanya. The first is fellow former 185lbs champion Strickland, who pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history in their Sydney showdown two years ago. The second is the resurgent Paulo Costa, who got back to winning ways last month at UFC 318 against Roman Kopylov. Like the controversial and outspoken Strickland, Adesanya has history with Brazilian bruiser Costa. Adesanya emerged victorious from their clash of undefeated middleweights on Fight Island in September 2020, stopping 'Borrachina' in the second round of their Abu Dhabi dust-up. Rematches with both men intrigue the former champion, who recently told SunSport he's over the "halfway point" of his MMA career. 7 7 He said: "I think Paulo was going to fight this weekend. "If he had won, I bet you he would've said something stupid. "And I don't have to say much. I'd be like, 'Cool, alright, that sounds fun'. "And give him a chance at redemption like people have done for me as well. "And Strickland, if he wants to fight, sure. If not, ahh [shrugs his shoulders] it's alright."
