The corporation said that the Meerut Development Authority's 2031 Master Plan has complemented the growth by earmarking 3,273 hectares of land for Transit-Oriented Development. Of this, 2,442 hectares have already been designated into TOD zones and special development areas to be serviced by both the Namo Bharat corridor and the upcoming Meerut Metro. "These areas are being developed as mixed-use hubs, featuring residential, commercial, educational and healthcare facilities within walkable distance from transit stations," NCRTC said in a statement. India becoming big exporter of railway equipment: Vaishnaw
Vadodara: Railway manufacturing in India is experiencing the transformative impact of the ' Make in India , Make for the World' vision championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union minister for railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Sunday. "India is now exporting railway components, coaches, and locomotives to many developed countries," the minister stated after visiting Alstom's factory in Savli taluka of Vadodara district. He praised the modern design and build quality of the 'Namo Bharat' coaches being produced at the facility. Vaishnaw congratulated Alstom for its 'Designed in India' railway equipment. Coaches, locomotives, bogies, propulsion systems, and other components manufactured at the Savli plant are being exported globally—including to Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Mexico, and other countries—under the 'Design, Develop, Deliver from India to the World' initiative. "The Savli factory has boosted the economy of the Vadodara region by creating employment opportunities for local youth and contributing to the overall development of the area," a press release stated. Alstom officials informed the minister that the company employs around 7,000 engineers in India, working on both rolling stock and signalling systems.
