Keith Urban ‘didn't end chat show call when asked about his wife Nicole Kidman's intimate career moments'

Perth Now13 hours ago
Keith Urban appeared to abruptly end an interview after being asked a personal question about his wife Nicole Kidman's intimate career moments — but sources say the singer did not hang up.
The 57-year-old country star was speaking with Australia's Mix 102.3's Hayley Max in the Morning on Tuesday, 1 July, when hosts Max Burford and Hayley Pearson introduced a game called Wall of Truth, and reports claimed after Keith abruptly ended the chat when asked about his wife Nicole Kidman's latest raunchy sex scenes.
But a source has now told People: 'Keith did not hang up, period,' a source told People. 'He doesn't host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothing burger.'
Hayley described the supposedly controversial chat show section that allegedly prompted Keith to hang up as a segment where they ask guests 'a very tricky' and 'deeply personal' question.
Max began it by asking Keith: 'When I was coming up with something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you happen to play this game, the first thing I thought of, with your beautiful wife Nicole Kidman being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time… I watched a movie with her and Zac Efron recently, A Family Affair.'
Keith replied politely: 'Oh yeah, that's a good one.'
Max then asked: 'And I thought, 'What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?''
Shortly after the question, Keith disappeared from the call.
Another voice on the show said he'd been 'disconnected from Zoom.'
Max suggested: 'I think his team hung up on us because they didn't want us to ask that question,' adding Urban 'doesn't like the personal stuff.'
Max, however, appeared puzzled, noting Keith had been 'smiling' during the interview.
The source told People Keith is a 'very easygoing' interviewee and was not personally offended by the question. A representative for Urban declined to comment on the incident.
Nicole Kidman, 58, stars alongside Zac Efron, 37, in A Family Affair, released in June 2024.
In the film, the actress plays a widowed writer who begins dating Zac's character, a self-absorbed actor employing her daughter as a personal assistant.
Nicole told People last year: 'It's really helpful when you're doing this sort of work together that you've already got a history together, because it's easy. You're not working to create a history. So I'm not like, 'Can I touch you?' I feel incredibly trusting of Zac.'
Keith and Nicole married in 2006 and celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary last month.
They have two daughters – Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Nicole marked the anniversary on Instagram, writing, 'Happy Anniversary Baby (red heart emoji.) @KeithUrban.'
In December, the actress told People Keith 'still knows how to keep me on my toes'.
She recalled about a recent surprise dinner: 'I like being asked out, which he still does. Seven nights ago, we went to dinner in New York. We love Japanese food, but I'm open (to everything.)
'I like not knowing where he's going to take me. Surprise me, baby!'

'Keith doesn't hate us': Adelaide radio hosts reveal what really happened after X-rated Nicole Kidman question cut their interview with Keith Urban short

Adelaide-based radio hosts Hayley Pearson and Max Burford have lifted the lid on their excruitiating Keith Urban interview. The moment unfolded on Tuesday when the 57-year-old Aussie music star appeared on Mix 102.3's Hayley & Max breakfast show via Zoom to promote his upcoming High and Alive world tour, which kicks off July 17 in Denver and includes a stop in Adelaide on August 28. Urban appeared relaxed and cheerful during the chat, even expressing his excitement about returning to perform for his Aussie fans. But the conversation derailed when the duo asked him to participate in the program's recurring segment, Wall of Truth. "When I was coming up with something to ask you, Keith Urban, if you're happy to play this game, the first thing I thought of is your beautiful wife, Nicole Kidman, being in so many great movies and TV shows all the time," Max said. "I watched a movie with her and Zac Efron recently, A Family Affair, and I thought, 'What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron, having these beautiful love scenes on TV?'" Following an awkward silence, Max asked: "Oh no, why has this happened? What's just happened here?" "I think he just hung up on us," Hayley responded. Their producer quickly chimed in: "He's disconnected. I think his team hung up on us because they didn't want us to ask that question." However, on Wednesday morning Hayley and Max finally cleared the air with their listeners, revealing that Keith Urban didn't cut the call short after all. To get to the bottom of what really happened, the duo brought in Mix 102.3 FM's content director Stephen Werner, who set the record straight. After praising them for what he called a "great interview" Stephen explained that the call ended simply because they ran out of time with the 'Somebody Like You' singer. "The producers were getting texts, and you guys were having such a great time that you ran out of time," he said. "I don't even know if he (Keith) heard the question." Hayley jumped in: "So are you saying he didn't hang up on us?" "He didn't hang up on you," Stephen confirmed. "He went to another interview." Hayley continued to probe. "Hang on, so are you telling us this has made international news, and it's not even a story because he didn't hang up on us? "Are you saying that Keith doesn't hate us?" "Well, I haven't spoken to him, but I don't think Keith hates anybody, really. He seems like a pretty nice guy," Stephen replied. "So it's just the entire internet that hates us, not Keith," Max said. Urban and Kidman first met at the G'Day USA Gala in January 2005 and tied the knot in June 2006. Now parents to two daughters, Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14, the couple recently celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, which Kidman marked with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. "Happy Anniversary Baby," the Babygirl star wrote alongside a tender black-and-white photo of the pair cuddled up over Urban's guitar.

Dwayne Johnson finally hugs Jelly Roll years after his music helped him through 'hard' time

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has thanked Jelly Roll for helping him through a "very hard" time. The WWE legend turned Hollywood megastar has shared a video of the moment he finally met and hugged the Only hitmaker, whose song "moved" him around 2017 when he was "struggling" with his mental health. Alongside a video of the pair hugging and saying they loved each other, The Rock wrote: "A brotherly hug almost 10 years in the making... "Several years ago (roughly 2017) I was going through a very hard thing at the time, I was struggling. "My mental wellness turned into my mental hellness. Many of you know the drill, you put on 'the face,' show up to work, smile and get through it. "Perhaps not the healthiest thing to do, but it's what I was used to doing at the time. "Then a song came on through my headphones one morning on a random shuffle playlist. 'Only' from Jelly Roll. The lyrics rocked me. Hard core." In the emotional song, Jelly - who is also a huge WWE fan - sings: "What if the darkness inside of me has finally taken my soul?/What if the angels in heaven were sent to take me home? "Would they fight through the demons that I have in my life?/Lord, I'm believing eventually see the light." The Fast and Furious actor recalled how he was moved "so much" that he got in touch with the singer at the time, and shared how "this song of yours is helping me through some stuff I'm dealing with". and that he "just called to say thank you". He continued: "Our bond was born." When the pair finally met in person recently, Dwayne gave Jelly a gift which he admitted might seem "insignificant to the world", but would mean a lot to Jelly. He gave the singer an old postcard of the former Alamo Plaza motel in South Nashville, where Jelly is from. Dwayne explained: "When I was 15yrs I was forced (family was evicted) to leave Hawaii and make it to Nashville to live with my dad. "That didn't work out so I wound up living with a stranger in this little spot on Murfreesboro Road that has since been torn down and no longer there. "Downtown Bruno was that stranger's name and to this day, he's one of my best and most special friends. Just like Jelly. A very special friend." In the Instagram video, Jelly admitted that the postcard - which was signed by The Rock - "is real old school Nashville history". Dwayne added in the caption: "Every once in a while we all get sliced up by life, but it's amazing to see what kind of blessings and people that God and the universe will put in our lives to help us heal through our pain."
