The Miami Dolphins pulled off one of the biggest trades in recent memory when they swapped Jalen Ramsey for Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both players are near the top of their respective positions, but there was a lot of chatter regarding Fitzpatrick.

Fans, pundits, and more were concerned with the idea that the Pittsburgh Steelers were willing to let Fitzpatrick walk, and the narrative began to form that he had lost a step with his big-playmaking abilities.
That is clearly not the case, and Fitzpatrick has been named a three-time First-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler for a reason. The star safety might have also silenced critics with a recent training video, which is drawing plenty of fan responses.

Fitzpatrick has been one of the best safeties in the league, and the idea that he is not at a high level any longer is quite far-fetched. He ended the season with 96 total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception, and four passes defended.
Fitzpatrick's performance in 2024 led to his fourth straight Pro Bowl nod. Clearly, he is still playing at a high level, and he now returns to the team that drafted him.

The Dolphins initially drafted Fitzpatrick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, securing 80 total tackles, two interceptions, and nine passes defended.
While the Dolphins believed they found a cornerstone of their new defense, Fitzpatrick became very unhappy with his role in Brian Flores' defensive scheme. He played four different positions, leading to his seeking a trade.
The Dolphins granted the trade request, and Fitzpatrick was sent to the Steelers in exchange for players and draft capital.
Fitzpatrick would go on to impress with the Steelers, becoming one of the best safeties in the league. He is now returning to Miami, where he can take over the role that was left behind by Jevon Holland, who joined the New York Giants.
Miami had one of the best defenses in 2024, despite the team finishing with a less-than-stellar record. With Anthony Weaver returning as defensive coordinator, Fitzpatrick could have another breakout year.

Wisconsin alumnus included in ESPN's top off-ball linebacker ranking for 2025 NFL season

Former Wisconsin football standout Zack Baun was included in ESPN's list of the top 10 off-ball linebackers ahead of the 2025 NFL season earlier this month. Baun is the third former Badger to receive a position on the outlet's preseason positional rankings, joining two-time Doak Walker Award winner Jonathan Taylor (running backs) and defensive legend T.J. Watt (edge rushers). The off-ball linebacker list is powered by a feedback from dozens of NFL league executives, coaches and scouts, which ESPN then parlays into a top 10 ranking based on their vote totals, composite average position and information from interviews. Following that method, the outlet listed Baun as the No. 3 off-ball linebacker in the NFL ahead of this coming season. At No. 3, Baun is sandwiched between Baltimore Ravens superstar Roquan Smith (No. 2) and Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl winner Nick Bolton (No. 4). Four-time first-team All-Pro Fred Warner earned the top spot, followed by Washington Commanders' rising star Frankie Luvu (No. 5), Chicago Bear Tremaine Edmunds (No. 6), Buccaneers veteran Lavonte David (No. 7), second-year Dallas Cowboy DeMarvarion Overshown (No. 8), Denver Bronco Dre Greenlaw (No. 9) and New York Jet Quincy Williams (No. 10). ProFootballFocus' list of the top 32 linebackers ahead of 2025 had Baun at No. 2 behind only Warner, who is widely considered the best linebacker of his decade. Entering his second year in Philadelphia, it appears as if Baun is poised to become a household name at this stage of his career. The Wisconsin native's numbers convey the same message. In 16 starts for the Eagles, who hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in a dominant win over the Chiefs this winter, the former Badger registered 151 tackles, 11 for loss, five quarterback hits, 3 1/2 sacks, four pass deflections, five forced fumbles and an interception. By the season's end, Baun was named a first-team All-Pro, a Pro Bowler and a finalist for the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award alongside T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson and Patrick Surtain II (winner). In the postseason, Baun was responsible for 33 total tackles (20 solo), two tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and one forced fumble across four playoff games. In Super Bowl 59, he notched a team-best seven tackles (three solo) and a crucial interception on three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Baun's explosive year led to a three-year, $51 million contract extension with Philadelphia this offseason. Baun's Eagles will begin their season against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4 at Lincoln Financial Field. PFF ranks Broncos CB Pat Surtain 27th among best NFL players

The NFL offseason is winding down as training camps are underway across the league. With teams gearing up for the 2025 NFL season, it's only right for publications such as Pro Football Focus to start ranking the top 50 NFL players. Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema have Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow as the top three players on their list. Denver Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II was also recognized, landing at No. 27 on the list. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year got a lot of praise from the two writers. 'At just 25, Surtain already has a Defensive Player of the Year award to his name," they wrote for PFF. "In four NFL seasons, he's been a Pro Bowler three times and a First-Team All-Pro twice. In 2024, he earned an 87.4 coverage grade while allowing only 0.53 yards per cover snap and just 52 targets all season — a clear sign of how often quarterbacks avoided him. Sustaining success at cornerback is notoriously difficult, but Surtain is proving he has the rare talent to do it.' A tremendous honor for the 25-year-old. This season, let's see if Surtain will compound on his accomplishments.

NFL Top 100: Jaguars WR Brian Thomas is No. 61, plays Cardinals in Week 12

Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr. had the rookie season that people wanted Marvin Harrison Jr. to have. This week, the NFL had its fourth week of revealing players in the "NFL Top 100." This week was about revealed Nos. 61-70. Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride came in at No. 65. On Friday, two Cardinals opponents for 2025 rounded out the week. Coming at No. 61 was Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas, who was a rookie last season. In his rookie campaign, he had the season Cardinals fans hoped that Marvin Harrison Jr. would have had. He had 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl and was fourth in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. He was the fourth rookie since the NFL-AFL merger to have at least 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fellow 2024 rookie receiver Malik Nabers of the New York Giants, Thomas' college teammate at LSU, called him "a freak of nature." Teammate Travon Walker, a defensive end, said Thomas is "a good route runner" with "exceptional speed." The Cardinals will have to find a way to slow Thomas in 2025. The Jaguars come to State Farm Stadium in Week 12. He isn't the only Jaguars player in the top 100, as defensive end Josh Hines-Allen made the list just behind Thomas at No. 63. 'NFL Top 100' opponents for Cardinals in 2025 Of the 30 players in the top 100 revealed as of the end of last week, the Cardinals face the following: Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire's Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast.
