Mysuru: "There's no revolution (Kranti) or any power struggle in the state. Chief minister Siddaramaiah himself has put an end to all such talks by clearly saying he will continue as CM for five years," said transport minister Ramalinga Reddy.
Speaking to the media, Reddy clarified, "I have no knowledge of any power-sharing discussions within the high command. Siddaramaiah's statement is clear–—he will be the chief minister for five years. There's nothing more to say on this."
On reports of AICC leader Randeep Singh Surjewala seeking feedback from MLAs, Reddy responded, "I am unaware of any complaints against ministers or discussions between MLAs and Surjewala in Delhi.
If meetings happen behind closed doors, how would I know? The high command handles all internal matters."
Responding to some Congress leaders referring to Siddaramaiah as an "outsider," Reddy said, "Wherever he may have come from, today he is a Congress leader. He became chief minister because people support him. He's a mass leader and has worked hard both earlier and now as CM. He has given, and is giving good governance to people."
Asked about the possibility of deputy CM DK Shivakumar becoming CM, Reddy said, "DK Shivakumar has been a loyal Congressman since his student days. He will definitely become chief minister—when, I can't say. His time will come." Pressed further on whether Shivakumar could become CM during the current term, Reddy concluded, "I have no information on that."

Rahul Gandhi gets bail in case over allegedly defamatory remarks about Army

A court in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Tuesday granted bail to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in a case pertaining to his allegedly defamatory remarks about the Army during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022, Bar and Bench reported. Gandhi appeared in front of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Verma after the Allahabad High Court dismissed his challenge in May against the summons issued in the case. The case pertains to comments made by Gandhi on December 16, 2022, about a clash between the Indian and Chinese armies along the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang. The two sides had confronted each other with melee weapons on December 9, 2022, leading to injuries on both sides. Gandhi was granted bail by Verma on the condition that he furnish a personal bond of Rs 20,000 along with two sureties of the same amount. The case will be heard again on August 13. The remarks made by the leader of Opposition about the violence were made during the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra, a march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir against the allegedly divisive policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. A former director of the Border Roads Organisation, Uday Shankar Srivastava, filed a defamation complaint against Gandhi. His lawyer claimed that the Congress leader's statements were derogatory and defamed the Indian Army.

An effort to open the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein investigation files to the public was blocked on Monday after Republican members of Congress rejected an amendment that would have required the Trump administration to release the sealed documents, as per a report. Epstein File Release Blocked by House Republicans The amendment proposed by California Congressman Ro Khanna was a Democratic amendment that would have allowed Congress to vote on whether the files should be made public or not, as reported by Newsweek. However, the GOP members of the House Rules Committee voted it down 5 to 7 on Monday evening, against the amendment, as per the report. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Are Unstoppable: The Most Beautiful and Talented Female Athletes ALSO READ: Trump's tariff threat could trigger recession as August 1 deadline looms, and he might not blink this time What the Amendment Aimed to Do Khanna's amendment was in effect a procedural measure that was tacked on to the GENIUS Act, which is related to digital assets like cryptocurrency, and if the amendment were to get passed, it would have forced Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish the Epstein documents on a "publicly accessible website," as reported by Newsweek. Why the Epstein Files Still Matter The Epstein case has gained a lot of attention in US politics, and the issue has driven conspiracy theories and mistrust in various federal institutions in the last few years, according to Newsweek. The controversy came to the spotlight again after the Justice Department's recent memo said that there was no evidence of a client list or blackmail materials, which contradicted previous statements, as per the report. Epstein was accused of being a notorious child sex offender, but he died in his jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on further charges of sex trafficking minors, while FBI investigators concluded he killed himself, as reported by Newsweek. Donald Trump Distances Himself from Epstein Controversy Trump, who does not stand accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, has responded, saying he cannot understand why people are "still talking about [...] this creep," as quoted in the report. Democrats Keep Pushing for Public Disclosure This case has led Democrats to seek to release the files publicly, and the matter made its way into the political discourse as the House Rules Committee considered the issue after a failed attempt by the Democrats to force a vote in Congress on whether the Epstein files should be made public, as reported by Newsweek. FAQs Did the amendment pass? No. It was blocked in the House Rules Committee by a 7–5 vote, as per the Newsweek report. Is Trump involved in the Epstein case? There's no evidence he is named in the files or accused of wrongdoing.
