CM Stalin challenges Delhi's delimitation plans: 'Orani vs Delhi ani' in 2026
Mentioning the party's ongoing campaign, Oraniyil Tamil Nadu, Stalin asserted that state will not bow, and stated, 'We rise together. This is Orani vs Delhi ani. (Delhi team)' He also posted an image with the slogan, 'Planned states deserve a greater voice.'
Stalin listed the progress made by the state such as population control, empowering women with dignity, delivering healthcare and education for all, and championing sustainable development.
He also charged the union government, asking, 'What do we get in return? Fewer seats, less funding, and a voice that is being pushed out of Parliament.' He reasoned, 'Why? Because Tamil Nadu did the right thing. And that threatens Delhi.'
Coming down heavily on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, Stalin wrote, 'What's worse, EPS and his party are standing with Delhi, not with Tamil Nadu.' Stalin went on to say that the AIADMK was backing the unfair delimitation that punishes the state for its progress.
It may be recalled that Stalin has been accusing the union government of deliberately postponing the Census to 2027, with population-based delimitation in mind, something that would reduce Tamil Nadu's representation in the Parliament.
Stalin also launched an initiative to renovate 63 temples, which are over 1,000 years old, located in various parts of the state, through video conference from the secretariat on Friday.

Although the arrangement was supposed to be implemented depending on each classroom's size as per the circular, many pointed out that government and government-aided schools have longer classrooms, unlike the wider rooms needed to accommodate seating arrangements in 'Pa' shape. Moreover, classrooms with a large number of students will face difficulty even with the new arrangement. The inspiration behind the move came after some schools in Kerala voluntarily adopted similar seating arrangements, inspired by the Malayalam film Sthanarthi Sreekuttan. Reacting to the proposal, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami slammed the state government of copying ideas from films without any proper study. 'Stop playing with students' health for publicity,' he posted on X. BJP state secretary SG Suryah, too, criticised the move. The director confirmed to TNIE that the circular has been put on hold. BJP may seek over 35 seats from AIADMK in 2026
COIMBATORE: With the AIADMK and BJP already switching on to election mode, the saffron party is mulling to demand over 35 seats, which is almost double the number they got in the 2021 election, from the Dravidian major. A senior BJP functionary confirmed they are planning to ask for over 35 seats, with additional seats in districts such as Coimbatore, Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli and Chennai where the party sees potential for growth. 'In 2021, at a time when we were still laying the foundation in TN, the BJP got 20 seats from AIADMK. Now, we have grown significantly, achieving a double-digit vote share in the 2024 Parliamentary election without the support of the Dravidian parties. Therefore, we believe we can ask the AIADMK to double the seat allocation,' the functionary said. When asked about the specific number of seats, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran declined to comment directly. 'We are working to strengthen 68,000 booths across the state. The number of seats and the candidates for those will be decided by the party's high command. However, I hope the BJP will secure more MLA seats in the Assembly during my tenure as state president, and that is my responsibility too,' Nagenthran said. He also noted the possibility of contesting seats where they have sitting MLAs, including Coimbatore South, Modakurichi, Nagercoil, and Tirunelveli. Confirming it, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, during a recent election campaign that he started from Coimbatore, praised the performance of the BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan (Coimbatore South).
