Maroon 5 kicks of Asia 2025 tour with a gig in Manila
The sold-out concert, co-presented by Live Nation Philippines, the Tourism Promotions Board, and the Philippine Department of Tourism, marks the band's fourth visit to Manila.
The evening promises to deliver unforgettable moments for their devoted Filipino fans.
The Asia 2025 Tour will run from January to February, with Manila as the starting point.
From there, the band will journey across Asia, hitting major cities like Jakarta, Bangkok, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Kaohsiung.
Adding to the excitement, opening performances will feature DJ Mailbox and the American alt-rock band Culture Wars.
Formed in 1994 and fronted by Adam Levine, Maroon 5 has become a global icon, seamlessly blending pop, rock, and R&B into a signature sound that has defined hits like "Moves Like Jagger," "Sugar," and "She Will Be Loved."

Dubai Comedy Festival 2025 drops star-studded lineup
The festival will take place across the city from 2 to 12 October. If laughter is the best medicine, then the annual Dubai Comedy Festival 2025 is an overdose we all eagerly await. Returning for its next edition this autumn, the ten-day event will have audiences roaring with laughter as it descends upon Dubai from 2 to 12 October. And the headliners for the festival have just been unveiled. Presented by Dubai Calendar and collectively produced by BRAG, Live Nation, GME Events, and DXB Live, the Dubai Comedy Festival 2025 will take place across multiple hotspots in the city, including Dubai Opera and Coca-Cola Arena. Tom Segura This year's lineup includes Tom Segura, who will be kicking off the festival at Coca-Cola Arena on 2 October. He'll be followed by Omid Djalili, Akaash Singh, Morgan Jay, Joanne McNally and John Achkar throughout the next few days. The closing act will see Zakir Khan take to the stage on 12 October, promising a banging end to the festival. But that's not all. More names are expected to be announced soon. On 11 October, Arab-American comedian, activist, and law professor Amer Zahr returns after a sold-out show last year, delivering sharp, politically charged humour rooted in his Palestinian heritage. On 12 October, the spotlight turns to Marseille's own Redouane Bougheraba, whose charismatic blend of storytelling and improv has made him a viral sensation and the first French comic to headline a solo show at the Orange Vélodrome. That same night, Ivan Abramov brings his witty, offbeat new show Hi-Hi, Ha-Ha to Russian-speaking fans, fusing cultural quirks and personal anecdotes. Also taking the stage on 12 October is Delhi-based Gaurav Kapoor, whose Hindi set promises outrageous tales of married life, 90s nostalgia, and corporate madness—all delivered with the irreverent wit that's earned him an Amazon Prime special and legions of fans. The 2025 edition of the Dubai Comedy Festival aims to take things to the next level, featuring multilingual stand-up sets, hilarious activations, and late-night after-party fun. As well as providing a platform for the world's best in comedy, the festival is also proud to provide local and regional talents an opportunity to showcase their skills while transcending all cultures, backgrounds, and ages — as good comedy should. Morgan Jay Comedy is the best remedy in 2025, and tickets to the Dubai Comedy Festival are now available. However, prices vary depending on the show of interest. SAYAW PINOY folk dance competition showcases Filipino culture, talent in Bahrain
To mark the 127th Philippine Independence Day, Filipinos in Bahrain gathered for SAYAW PINOY: Folk Dance Competition 2025—a lively celebration that brought Philippine traditions to life through dance. Organized by the Filipino Club Bahrain under the leadership of Ms. Rosemarie Hernandez, in partnership with the Philippine Dance Crew, this year's competition drew enthusiastic crowds as five Filipino community groups presented folk dances that honored customs that reflected the heart and soul of the Philippines. Claiming the championship title was the Philippine Teachers Association Bahrain (PTAB) with their powerful performance of Karatong—a ceremonial dance from Mindanao known for its rhythmic movements and cultural significance. Draped in handwoven T'nalak fabric, performers from Global Bisdak Bahrain United earned first runner-up with T'boli Kadal Tahaw , a traditional dance of the T'boli tribe in South Cotabato, celebrated for its graceful, bird-like motions. Meanwhile, the United Bicolanos in Bahrain took second runner-up with Sinakiki , a lively folk dance from Rapu-Rapu, Albay that portrayed the spirited rhythms of agricultural life in the Philippines. Also taking part in the competition was the Migrant Workers Association in Bahrain (MWAB), who performed Kappa Malong-Malong , a dance that demonstrated the versatility of the malong, a tubular garment traditionally worn by the Maranao people of Mindanao. Adding a graceful touch and showcasing the Filipina spirit, PINAY Ikaw Na! donned elegant Maria Clara gowns in their performance of Cariñosa—a cherished courtship dance from Panay Island, symbolizing romance and the gentle nature of Filipino tradition. The event was graced by the presence of Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis, alongside Mr. Yusuf Lori, Director of Information and Follow-up of the Capital Governorate of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Their attendance, together with Philippine mission officials, Consul Bryan Jess Baguio, Labor Attaché Mr. Orville Balitoc, MWO Official Ms. Celia Cabadonga, and OWWA Welfare Officer Ms. Juvilyn Anns Gumabay, reflected the strong support for preserving and celebrating Filipino culture abroad.

Cena and Elba team up for buddy movie ‘Heads of State'
'Heads of State' is not the Cheech & Chong reunion film you've been waiting for, but a comic thriller co-starring John Cena and Idris Elba, premiered on Wednesday on Prime Video. Previously joined in cultural history by the DC super antihero flick 'The Suicide Squad,' the actors have remade their rivalrous characters there into an odd couple of national leaders here, dealing with conspiratorial skulduggery, bullets, bombs and the like. Call me dim, but I wasn't even half aware that Cena, whose muscles have muscles, maintains a long, successful career in professional wrestling — which is, of course, acting — alongside his more conventional show business pursuits; he's ever game to mock himself and not afraid to look dumb, which ultimately makes him look smart, or to appear for all intents and purposes naked at the 2024 Oscars, presenting the award for costume design. (He was winning, too, in his schtick with Jimmy Kimmel.) Elba, whose career includes a lot of what might be called prestige genre, has such natural poise and gravity that one assumes he's done all the Shakespeares and Shaws and Ibsens, but 'The Wire' and 'Luther' were more his thing. He was on many a wish list as the next James Bond, and while that's apparently not going to happen, something of the sort gets a workout here. Elba plays British Prime Minister Sam Clarke, described as 'increasingly embattled' in his sixth year in office, who is about to meet Cena's recently elected American president, Will Derringer, on the eve of a trip to Trieste, Italy, for a NATO conference. (Why Clarke is embattled is neither explained nor important.) Derringer resents Clarke, who can't take him seriously, for having seemed to endorse his opponent by taking him out for fish and chips. (This is a recurring theme.) An international star in the Schwarzenegger/Stallone mold — 'Water Cobra' is his franchise — one might call Derringer's election ridiculous, but I live in a state that actually did elect Schwarzenegger as its governor, twice. Wet behind the ears ('He still hasn't figured out the difference between a press conference and a press junket,' somebody says), Derringer thinks a lot of himself, his airplane, his knowing Paul McCartney and his position. Beyond aspirational platitudes, he has no real politics, but as we first see him carrying his daughter on his shoulders, we know he's really OK. Directed by Ilya Naishuller ('Nobody') and written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec and Harrison Query, the movie begins with a scene set at the Tomatino Festival in Buñol, Spain, in which great crowds of participants lob tomatoes at each other in a massive food fight — it's a real thing — foreshadowing the blood that will soon be flowing through the town square, as a team of unidentified bad guys ambush the British and American agents who are tracking them. They've been set up, declares M16 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), who is later reported 'missing and presumed dead' — meaning, of course, that she is very much alive and will be seen again; indeed, we will see quite a lot of her. Meanwhile, the prime minister and the president board Air Force One for Trieste. They talk movies: 'I like actual cinema,' says Clarke, who claims to have never seen one of Derringer's pictures. 'I'm classically trained,' the movie star protests. 'Did you know I once did a play with Edward Norton? But the universe keeps telling me I look cool with a gun in my hand — toy gun.' Following attacks within and without the plane, the two parachute into Belarus and, for the remainder of the film, make their way here and there, trying to evade the private army of Russian arms dealer and sadistic creep Viktor Gradov (Paddy Considine) led by your typical tall blond female assassin (Katrina Durden). They'll also meet Stephen Root as a computer guy and Jack Quaid as a comical American agent. Elsewhere, Vice President Elizabeth Kirk (Carla Gugino) takes charge. ('Bad?' is the note I wrote.
