The Block's Darren Palmer sells Bondi Beach pad for a whopping $8.25 million - making a tidy profit on luxe coastal rebuild
Palmer, 46, and his husband Olivier Duvillard, a cosmetics executive, finally closed the deal on their four-bedroom, four-bathroom sanctuary just metres from the surf after pulling it from auction earlier this year.
According to realestate.com.au, the couple had listed the property on Sir Thomas Mitchell Road with a price guide of $7.95 million in April, but opted for a private sale after the right buyer failed to materialise on auction day.
Their patience paid off.
Celebrity agent Alexander Phillips secured the sale off-market to a buyer from their database - setting a new street record in the process.

Darren and Olivier originally snapped up the 1930s Californian bungalow for $2.98 million in 2015 and completely transformed it in a major rebuild in 2022.
The three-storey residence features designer finishes throughout - including a statement open fireplace, natural stone kitchen, a dreamy master suite, and an outdoor plunge pool framed by palm trees.
'This is actually the longest-term house I've had in my entire life, except for when I was a child,' Darren revealed in an interview with Home Beautiful earlier this year.
When Darren purchased it in the mid 2010s, the home had already been raised to two levels before the author forged ahead with his own renovation plans.
Darren collaborated with architect John Deuchrass and construction company Taste Living to completely rebuild the home after he bought it.
'The poor old house has a lot to be improved upon. I spent years imagining what it might be when it was completely done,' Darren told Domain.
He went on to say he kept only one bedroom 'with the original 1920s horsehair plaster ornate ceiling' but ended up renovating the rest over two years.
It's not the only property Darren and Olivier have offloaded recently.

The pair also quietly sold their Byron Bay retreat for $2.6 million to fashion entrepreneur Candice Rose O'Rourke, founder of the popular lifestyle label Zulu & Zephyr, and her husband Josh.
That dreamy coastal property, located just 100m from Tallow Beach, boasted its own private path to the sand and offered all the trimmings of a Byron escape - think open-plan living, neutral tones, and breezy design perfect for barefoot luxury.
Darren will, meanwhile, return to The Block when the renovation series returns to TV in August.

McDonald's Australia sends fans wild over major announcement: 'My prayer has finally been answered'
Following a secret trial and overwhelming fan demand, McGriddles have officially been added as permanent menu item at McDonald's stores Australia-wide. FEMAIL can confirm that McGriddles will be available nationally on the fast food giant's breakfast menu from Wednesday, July 9. The range will see four new items introduced to the permanent menu - all featuring the cult-favourite sweet and savoury maple infused breakfast pancakes. For the uninitiated, McGriddles are essentially a twist on a classic Macca's breakfast burger, whereby the English Muffin bun is replaced with two fluffy maple-infused sweet pancake buns, creating a delightful sweet and savoury contrast. The new range includes the Sausage and Cheese McGriddles, which sees a classic beef sausage patty paired with melty cheese and served in-between two soft, warm maple infused pancakes. Then, there's the Sausage, Egg and Cheese McGriddles, which includes all of the above with the addition of an egg omelette. Next, there's the Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles, which includes a rasher bacon, egg omelette and a slice of cheese inside the pancake bun. The final option is to keep it simple with a serve of plain McGriddles. Previously, the only way that Aussies could get their hands on the fast food giant's legendary McGriddles was while travelling abroad to countries like the US, Canada, Japan or Hong Kong. McDonald's Australia customers have subsequently lobbied the fast food brand for years to bring the iconic breakfast item down under. Earlier this year, Aussie fans got wind of a secret trial of McGriddles taking place in certain Maccas stores around Sydney. The result saw customers flocking to the select locations and willingly waiting for over an hour to to taste the hard-to-find brekkie item. Following the success of the trial, a McDonald's Australia spokesperson confirmed to FEMAIL that all Australians will now have the chance to taste the legendary McGriddles range. 'Our Aussie fans absolutely obsessed over the sweet and savoury flavours of McGriddles when we trialled it earlier this year,' Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director of Menu and Brand for McDonald's Australia, said. Rather than making it a limited time menu addition, Ms Nakad confirmed the popularity during the trial phase meant McGriddles had been promoted straight to the 'permanent' nationwide breakfast menu. 'Safe to say, we got the message and gave our iconic breakfast menu a glow up by adding it to the permanent menu,' she said. She confirmed that the McGriddles range will now feature alongside other Maccas breakfast staples, such as their hashbrowns, McMuffins and McCafe coffee. Customers should however note that McGriddles are part of the fast food store's breakfast menu, meaning they can only be purchased until 10.30am. Back in May during the trial period, Sydney foodie Adrian Wildjy was one of the first to alert his TikTok followers about McGriddles being quietly launched in select stores down under. Sharing a video to his over 381K followers, the Sydney food content creator raved that his favourite overseas Maccas breakfast food was now in his hometown city. 'Finally my prayer is answered. It's here in Australia. It's the McGriddles,' Adrian said in the video. 'I always have them when I'm in Japan or Hong Kong. Now it's here where I am in Sydney,' the online foodie continued. 'I just love the sweet savoury combo of the McGriddles,' Adrian said. 'I am so happy,' he concluded in the viral video, urging fellow McGriddles fans to 'run' to find them. During the previous trial period, the McGriddles breakfast burger alone was priced at $7.80 at the Haberfield McDonald's in Sydney. They could also be purchased as part of a breakfast meal. Customers could also purchase the McGriddles cakes alone during the trial and were at that time priced at $4.55 - with the option to add on a hot cake syrup for an additional $1.10.

Australia news live: Chris Bowen travels to Pacific for Cop31 push; Coalition frontbencher calls for national cabinet after Melbourne attacks
Update: Date: 2025-07-06T21:10:03.000Z Title: Content: ACOSS is calling on the Reserve Bank of Australia to cut interest rates again tomorrow after the latest inflation data show that price pressures are continuing to ease. 'With inflation well within the RBA's target and decreasing, there is no reason to keep interest rates high,' said ACOSS acting CEO Jacqueline Phillips. People on low and modest incomes have borne the brunt of interest rate rises and desperately need relief. The economic conditions clearly support a rate cut. Phillips said a series of rate cuts now would open the door to stronger growth in jobs and help restore people's incomes after a decade of stagnation. Low unemployment should be celebrated, not feared. There is no evidence that our current unemployment rate is driving inflation. In fact, inflation continues to fall even with unemployment at these levels. We should be supporting job creation, not deliberately trying to push people out of employment to meet an arbitrary unemployment target. While welcome, rate cuts alone would not solve the living standards crisis for people who are hit the hardest, she added. We need an urgent increase to JobSeeker and other social security payments to lift them to a liveable level. We also need further investment in social housing and home energy upgrades for low-income renters to bring down energy bills. Update: Date: 2025-07-06T21:10:03.000Z Title: Welcome Content: Good morning and welcome to Monday's live news blog. The Albanese government will continue its efforts to host the Cop31 climate summit against stiff competition from Turkey, with climate and energy minister Chris Bowen travelling to the Pacific. And the opposition frontbencher Melissa McIntosh has called for the prime minister to convene an urgent meeting of national cabinet after a spate of alleged antisemitic attacks in Melbourne at the weekend. I'm Jordyn Beazley and I'll be taking you through the morning's news. Update: Date: 2025-07-06T21:10:03.000Z Title: Content: While there's no confirmation of who will host COP31 next year, energy minister Chris Bowen will travel to the Pacific this week to discuss Australia's joint bid with the region to host the climate summit. Australia is lobbying to host the summit against Turkiye, and prime minister Anthony Albanese promised during the federal election campaign to hold the summit – if we won – in Adelaide. Bowen will visit Tuvalu, Palau, Samoa, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands and says the trip will help deepen ties with the region. It makes sense that the world's biggest climate conference should be hosted by the region facing some of the world's biggest climate impacts. Australia and the Pacific's joint bid for COP31 is about ensuring that the region's voice shapes global climate action for the benefit of the Australian and Pacific people. South Australia's acting premier, Susan Close, says her state is a 'global leader' in decarbonisation, with 75% of its energy coming from renewables, and a target of net 100% renewables by 2027.
