Caitlin Clark trolls glamorous teammate Sophie Cunningham over her appearance as injury absence rolls on

Daily Mail10 hours ago
Caitlin Clark trolled her glamorous Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham on Friday night, hours after being ruled out of another game.
The Fever announced their star player would once again be missing for Saturday's home game against the Los Angeles Sparks due to a lingering left groin injury.
But Clark was clearly not too distraught as she took to social media to jokingly mock Cunningham, who has emerged as the Fever's on-court enforcer in the early stages of this WNBA season.
The Fever posted some pictures from the workout earlier in the day, one of which showed Cunningham's hair bouncing up and down as she ran around the court.
The picture captured her hair in a bizarre position, leading Clark to reply 'love this hairstyle' while tagging her teammate.
On Saturday, Clark will sit out for a fifth straight game and miss her 10th game of the season, including Tuesday's Commissioner's Cup final when Indiana toppled the league-leading Minnesota Lynx 74-59.
The Cup final does not count toward the regular-season standings, but nonetheless, the Fever have won three straight games during Clark's absence.
Indiana coach Stephanie White said at the time of Clark's injury that it was 'very much a day-to-day thing.'
After Saturday, the Fever are off again until a home date with the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
Clark, 23, sat out five games due to a left quad injury before returning to action against the New York Liberty on June 14.
The second-year guard is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in nine games this season for Indiana
Clark won Rookie of the Year honors and made the All-Star and All-WNBA teams in 2024-25 following a record-setting career at Iowa.

Report: Rockets trade F Cam Whitmore to Wizards

July 5 - The Houston Rockets are trading forward Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second-round picks, per ESPN. The 20-year-old was selected by the Rockets with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he flashed promise, averaging 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in only 18.7 minutes per game. In addition, he shot 35.9 percent from three-point range. In his second season, Whitmore saw a slight minute reduction due to Houston's crowded depth chart; he averaged 9.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game. Whitmore was already behind Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason in the rotation, but this offseason, the Rockets crowded the depth chart even more by adding superstar Kevin Durant and forward Dorian Finney-Smith. In Washington, Whitmore has a clearer path to playing time, as he should become a key piece for the rebuilding squad. He will join their young core of Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, and AJ Johnson. --Field Level Media

Dodgers recall RHP Jack Little, option RHP Noah Davis

July 5 - The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander Jack Little and optioned right-hander Noah Davis. Little, 27, made his major league debut for the Dodgers on June 19th against the San Diego Padres. Across two innings, he allowed two runs, four hits, and one walk with one strikeout. At Triple-A Oklahoma City, Little has performed well this season, posting a 3.60 ERA and 33 strikeouts across 35 innings. He will now get his second shot at the MLB level. Davis, 28, is a more experienced option, appearing in 18 career games with the Colorado Rockies, before joining the Dodgers' organization this offseason. In his first four outings with the Dodgers, Davis surrendered three earned runs and four hits in 4 2/3 total innings. However, he had a rough outing on Friday, as the Houston Astros racked up 10 runs, including two homers, against him in only 1 1/3 innings. --Field Level Media
