Shiv Sena (UBT) & MNS tieup likely for Mumbai only & not for other civic bodies in Maharashtra, predicts Bhujbal

(BMC) polls only.
"My assessment, based on the feedback that I have been receiving, is that the pre-poll understanding between the two Thackeray cousins will be only for the civic polls in Mumbai.
It is unlikely that they will have a tie up for the civic polls in other cities like Pune, Nashik etc," Bhujbal told TOI.
"At this juncture it is too early to predict whether the coming together of the Thackeray cousins would adversely impact the Mahayuti in the BMC polls. The top brass of the three ruling alliance partners in the state are aware of the developments. They need to quickly firm up their strategy to win the civic polls in the state as was the case during the last assembly polls," stressed Bhujbal, who had been the mayor of Mumbai twice in the past.

The senior NCP leader said CM Devendra Fadnavis and his teo deputies Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde would take the final call on whether to have a pre-poll pact for the civic polls, including BMC.

A section of the Mahayuti politicians are apprehensive that the pre-poll understanding between Sena (UBT) and MNS could have an impact on the ruling alliance's prospects in the forthcoming civic polls, including BMC.

Bhujbal said, "In Nashik, the NCP would like to have an understanding with BJP and Shiv Sena both for Nashik Municipal Corporation and Nashik ZP polls. But if that is not possible then NCP would contest independently. Nashik NCP unit's initial preparations for the polls have started."

Mumbai: Start preparing for the upcoming Mumbai civic body elections, was the clear message from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to the party workers. Mr Thackeray urged the party to remain united and underlined the example of his coming together with his estranged cousin Uddhav Thackeray to drive home the point. The meeting was held in the backdrop of the state local bodies elections expected to be held later this year. Addressing his party workers at the Rangsharda Hall in Bandra, Mr Thackeray referred to his reunion with cousin Uddav Thackeray at a public rally in Mumbai after a political separation that spanned two decades. He said, "If we two brothers can come together after twenty years, then why are you fighting among yourselves? Instead of creating any dispute between the workers and office bearers, start preparing for the elections." Speculations of a possible alliance have remained high as Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray shared the stage on July 5, at an event, titled 'Awaj Marathicha' (Voice of the Marathi), jointly organised by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), marking the first time since 2005 that the two estranged cousins shared a stage. Raj Thackeray's surprise visit to Matoshree to greet Uddhav on his birthday lend more weight to the alliance buzz. "Leave it to me with whom to form an alliance. Appropriate instructions will be given at the right time," he said. He added that the party is the strongest in Mumbai, sources told NDTV. "This time the power of Mumbai Municipal Corporation will come into our hands," Raj Thackeray said. While instructing the office bearers on Marathi language row, Raj Thackeray said, "Do not beat anyone without reason, first explain.. If they are ready to learn and speak Marathi, then teach them. But if they show arrogance, then adopt the same attitude in future as well. Do not make videos." Mr Thackeray asked party workers to check the voter list, move forward with old workers and office bearers as part of election preparations. MNS Leader Sandeep Deshpande, who was also present at the meeting, said, "Our Leader Raj Thackeray instructed all party workers and office bearers to gear up for BMC election. He also instructed us to focus on the voter list and review it. There are huge expectations from us, and we are ready to deliver." The coming together of the estranged cousins-turned-comrades has not only enthused cadres of both parties, but it could also give a lifeline to both parties, which are struggling to regain their footing after drubbings in the assembly polls last year. Uddahv Thackeray's party won 20 seats in the polls while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena won 57 seats. The MNS failed to win any seats.

Four months on, ex-minister Dhananjay Munde yet to vacate official bungalow
MUMBAI: Former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde is yet to vacate the official bungalow 'Satpuda' in Mumbai, even four months after he resigned from the state cabinet. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday acknowledged Munde's extended stay at the government residence. "I am not aware of how much fine amount is levied on Munde for his extended stay in the official bungalow. I will have to find out the details," he told reporters. Senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and state minister Chhagan Bhujbal has been awaiting an official residence since May, after he was inducted into the council of ministers following Munde's exit. "The official residence allotted to me is still occupied by a former minister who is also my party colleague. I cannot ask him to vacate. If asked, I will ask the CM to give me a small residence to work with," Bhujbal said. Munde, who was holding the food and civil supplies ministry, had to resign on March 4 amid allegations of his links with Walmik Karad, the prime accused in the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. After Munde stepped down and Bhujbal was inducted as a minister, a government order was issued on May 23 allotting Satpuda bungalow to him. However, with Munde still occupying the bungalow, Bhujbal has not been able to move in and remains on standby for the official residence.

Uddhav Thackeray to attend INDIA bloc leaders' dinner in Delhi after Rahul Gandhi calls him up
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will be among the political leaders attending the dinner hosted by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on August 7. Gandhi called up Thackeray Sunday and invited him to attend the meeting of the INDIA bloc leaders, Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamana reported Monday. 'Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be in New Delhi on August, 6,7 and 8 at a time when the Monsoon Session of Parliament is underway. On August 7, Thackeray will attend the INDIA bloc meeting. He will also inaugurate the new party office in Sansad Bhavan,' the paper said. 'Besides the online meeting of INDIA bloc leaders before the Monsoon Session of Parliament, no other meeting of INDA bloc has been held. Therefore, Thursday's meeting will be important. The meeting, among others, will discuss the future strategy and the problems with the voters list,' the paper said. During his visit to Delhi, Thackeray will meet leaders of different political parties and interact with the media, it said. Meanwhile, Saamana, in its editorial Monday, alleged that last week's violence in Yevat area was abetted by people in the government. 'The police had taken action against those who had kept objectionable status. However, two MLAs went there and disturbed the peace. Instead of ensuring peace, they tried to fan the violence,' the paper said. The Pune rural police lodged five cases and detained 17 people in connection with the communal tension and violence reported at Yavat village in Daund taluka on August 1. The police also issued a prohibitory order as per provisions of Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). ( The paper also said, 'During the Modi regime, the Indian society has become insensitive and impatient. This is bad for the image of the country.'
