Kate Beckinsale Breaks Silence On Weight Loss After 'You Honestly Need Help' Comment

Yahooa day ago
Kate Beckinsale is opening up about her dramatic weight loss and citing the cause.
The "Canary Black" actress revealed that it stems from a "deeply painful" personal experience, not something fans or critics should dissect. Beckinsale's confession follows her fiery clapback in 2024, where she told trolls to "mind your own f-cking ass" after being slammed for her looks.
Kate Beckinsale has always taken a stand against unsolicited opinions about her body. The actress is clearly done staying quiet, as she has recently filed lawsuits against her "Canary Black" movie producers for allegedly ignoring safety concerns.
Beckinsale set the record straight on her appearance after her now-deleted Instagram post caused a follower to comment. While many fans praised her, one crossed the line, telling her, "You don't look good. I think you honestly need help."
Beckinsale did not let it slide. "Yes, I do," she replied. "I'm going through one of the most deeply painful times of my life. The body keeps the score." Her response referenced the well-known book by Bessel van der Kolk, which explores how trauma affects the body and mind.
Page Six reported that the post also featured images of her daughter Lily Mo Sheen, 26, and her pets, offering a glimpse of warmth amid the hardship. Beckinsale's caption reportedly read:
"Girls trip with my girls. This is not an accurate depiction of how life is right now, but a brief and precious reprieve from other things for which I am extremely grateful x."
This is not the first time Beckinsale has responded to body shamers. She first spoke out last July after trolls flooded her Instagram comments with unsolicited opinions about her appearance.
The Blast reports that she addressed the comment under the now-deleted post, revealing that her stepfather's death and her mother's stage four cancer diagnosis had caused extreme stress, leading to a six-week hospitalisation.
But it was her signature no-nonsense tone that sealed the moment when she fired back with, "Maybe you should worry about your own f—king ass. I suggest shoving something up it - like a large pineapple or a brick."
Beckinsale did not stop there. She also noted that a film she had just finished, which centered around the death of a father, added another emotional layer to her health struggles.
"I just worked very, very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering," she wrote. "So I'm not really concerned about what you think about my ass."
She also called out critics who mocked her for what they saw as behavior not fitting her age. In the lengthy video, the mother-of-one faced the camera in a hairnet and delivered the perfect sarcastic takedown.
When asked what she was doing, she replied, "Some, not all, but a few of my followers can get themselves really upset that they don't feel I'm doing enough age-appropriate things, so I thought I'd let them kick off their week with a little stab of joy of me putting on a hairnet."
She did not stop there. With a cheeky pose showing off her backside, she fired off another line, "So for those of you who are gonna get off from this, have had it, b-tches." Then came the punchline, a mock promise to take up knitting next.
Beckinsale is not just firing back at body shamers; she is now taking legal action against the people behind one of her recent films. The 51-year-old has filed a lawsuit against the producers of "Canary Black," accusing them of serious misconduct after she suffered a major knee injury on set.
As reported by The Blast, Beckinsale claims she was exposed to unsafe conditions throughout filming, including 15-hour days, no proper medical staff, and last-minute stunt demands.
Her legal team says Beckinsale repeatedly raised concerns, but the production team pushed forward, allegedly putting profits ahead of safety. In the lawsuit, she says she tore her left meniscus in December 2022, a serious injury that required surgery and halted filming.
Even after being cleared to return with strict restrictions, Beckinsale claims she was pressured into doing stunts that directly violated her doctor's orders, making her injury worse.
Beckinsale's role might have landed her in a courtroom, but it also earned her some praise. Despite the real-life injuries she claims to have suffered while filming "Canary Black," critics still found plenty to appreciate in her performance.
The Guardian offered a surprisingly positive take on the film, highlighting Beckinsale's charm and physicality in the lead role of Avery Graves, a sharp, stylish spy tasked with rescuing her husband, who is completely unaware of her secret life.
Though the review points out that the flashier stunts and drone-grabbing action sequences likely relied on doubles, Beckinsale is visibly present and active in many key scenes.
They noted she carried the film's medium and close-up shots with flair, all while dressed in tight outfits, sky-high boots, and a sleek chocolate leather trench coat gifted to her character by her on-screen husband.
Kate Beckinsale is making it clear that her body is not up for public debate and her healing is no one else's business.

Sport stars pay tribute to late Doddie Weir in birthday video

Rugby stars Kenny Logan and Rob Wainwright and other sporting legends have paid tribute to the late Doddie Weir in a video released on what would have been his 55th birthday. The video has been created to honour the memory of Weir, and the legacy of the foundation he set up to find effective treatments for motor neurone disease (MND) after he was diagnosed with it in 2016. Weir founded the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in 2017, and died in November 2022 aged 52. Those in the video include Olympic swimming medallist Duncan Scott, Olympic curling medallist Eve Muirhead, broadcaster and ex-footballer Ally McCoist, former England rugby player Mike Tindall and British and Irish Lions fly-half Fin Smith. Supporters from across the UK will wear Doddie tartan to work on Friday July 4, as part of a tradition marking what would have been the former rugby player's birthday. Kenny Logan, who played alongside Doddie as part of the 1999 Five Nations-winning Scotland side, said: 'Doddie was a leader in life, and he remains a leader in death. 'His memory inspires thousands of people, both inside and outside of the MND community, to take action and help bring an end to this devastating disease. 'We all know Doddie should still be here with us. He brought light and laughter into every room, even in the darkest days. It's up to all of us to dig deep, keep fundraising and finish what he started. 'We do it because we miss him. We do it because we love him. And we do it because nobody else should have to go through what he and his family did.' The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation has now committed almost £20 million to targeted research projects and launched a Catalysing A Cure strategy to speed up the search for effective treatments. Earlier this year it pledged £4 million to the MND Discovery Network, a new UK-wide initiative connecting leading scientists to accelerate progress. The film also features Jennie Starkey, who is living with MND and is part of the Foundation's Discovery Network board. The video comes after the end of the Doddie's Lions Challenge, in which a team led by Logan and including Ally McCoist, Gabby Logan, and Doddie's widow Kathy, cycled 555 miles around the island of Ireland in five days to deliver the match ball for the British and Irish Lions vs Argentina fixture in Dublin. The ride has so far raised almost £650,000 for MND research. My Name'5 Doddie Foundation chief executive Nicola Roseman, said: 'Doddie's spirit continues to galvanise the MND community. 'The outpouring of support and emotion on what would have been his 55th birthday shows just how many lives he touched and how much his story still matters. It also reminds us that there is still work to be done. 'Every birthday that passes without Doddie is another reminder of the urgency of our mission.' Dakota Johnson Kicks Off Her Single Girl Summer in a Tiny White swimsuit

THE RUNDOWN Dakota Johnson was photographed in a white swimsuit while on vacation in Ibiza, Spain, with Kate Hudson. The photos offer the first look at Johnson during her downtime since news of her split from Chris Martin broke last month. A source recently told People that Johnson is 'doing well' and 'doesn't want to have any regrets.' Dakota Johnson is making the most of summer—and her new chapter as a single woman. The actress was photographed with Kate Hudson on a yacht in Ibiza, Spain. Johnson wore a tiny white swimsuit with her hair styled down. You can see the photos here on People. The star just finished her press tour for Materialists. During the circuit, People reported that Johnson and her partner of eight years, Chris Martin, had quietly broken up. 'It feels final this time,' a source told the outlet. Multiple sources told People their relationship had been on-off. Johnson hasn't addressed the relationship status change herself, but she kept her romance with Martin largely private. On June 23, a source close to Johnson told People that she is 'doing well,' though. 'The split wasn't exactly a shock,' the source explained. '[They] had the same issues for a while.' 'She wants to live her life very intentionally—she doesn't want to have any regrets,' the insider continued. 'She loves all her creative projects and is excited about her career. She believes there is more to life than work though. She wants a meaningful life on all levels.' Johnson recently spoke with ELLE UK about her relationship history while discussing what drew her to play a matchmaker in Celine Song's Materialists. '[I] loved that Celine used to be a matchmaker in real life,' she said. 'I find the whole concept of the film so interesting, because it's so foreign to me. I've never dated anybody. I've had boyfriends, but I have never been on a dating app. I just don't know that world. So, it was so interesting and intriguing. It's the most beautiful side of humanity, but it can also be the most ugly. Loving someone is the most scary and beautiful thing you can do.'
