Howrah: Howrah resident Shweta Khan, also known as Fultusi Begum, accused of running sex and trafficking rackets and supplying drugs, had been in 2015 jailed under the Arms Act for using a firearm during a dispute over property two years ago.
DC South Surinder Singh confirmed on Wednesday that all allegations against Shweta were under probe. Police said Shweta was also found with multiple govt ID cards under different names. Following recent complaints of trafficking and drugs supply against Shweta and her son, Aryan, cops launched a probe and sent evidence for forensic analysis. Police have sought Howrah court permission to access her locked flat and check CCTV footage.
Singh said, "Efforts are on to arrest Shweta and Aryan." tnn

'This attachment has been made in connection with FIR 133/2024 registered at Sopore police station under Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38, 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 7/25 of the Arms Act. During the course of the investigation, it was found that the said property was wilfully used for harbouring terrorists and facilitating their stay, thereby aiding the execution of terror activities in Sopore area. Acting on the gathered evidence, and after obtaining necessary approval from the competent authority, the said property has been attached as per legal provisions under UAPA,' the spokesman. 'The general public is once again advised to refrain from extending any kind of support – tangible or intangible – to terrorists or their associates, failing which strict action under the provisions of law will be taken,' he said.

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Mumbai, Jul 24 (PTI) A woman was arrested in connection with the firing of a pistol by a 12-year-old boy, a Mumbai police official said on Thursday. The firing incident had taken place on June 27 and the boy had claimed he found the firearm in a garbage heap in the vicinity, the Dahisar police station official said. 'We have arrested Sangita Nair, who is the owner of the pistol. She has a criminal background. The boy had gone to Nair's house along with his aunt, who works there as a domestic help. He found a pistol in the cupboard and brought it home," the official said. 'He accidentally fired the pistol while showing it to his friends. After this, he fled from the scene, leaving the pistol behind. Nair has been arrested under Arms Act. Further probe into the antecedents of the pistol is underway," the official said.
