Howrah: Howrah resident Shweta Khan, also known as Fultusi Begum, accused of running sex and trafficking rackets and supplying drugs, had been in 2015 jailed under the Arms Act for using a firearm during a dispute over property two years ago.
DC South Surinder Singh confirmed on Wednesday that all allegations against Shweta were under probe. Police said Shweta was also found with multiple govt ID cards under different names. Following recent complaints of trafficking and drugs supply against Shweta and her son, Aryan, cops launched a probe and sent evidence for forensic analysis. Police have sought Howrah court permission to access her locked flat and check CCTV footage.
Singh said, "Efforts are on to arrest Shweta and Aryan." tnn

Lucknow: A property dealer shot dead the cousin of a hotel owner on Tuesday after the victim allegedly passed comments on his girlfriend outside an inn in Vikalp Khand, Gomtinagar. The accused, Akash Tiwari (23), and his girlfriend, Pushpa Gautam alias Payal (26), have been arrested. Police said Pushpa, a native of Gorakhpur, was staying at the inn with another woman since July 16. She works in event management and lives in Vikas Khand. The hotel is co-owned by Uday Sen Yadav of Sultanpur and Devendra Mishra of Barabanki, with Uday's cousin, Diwakar Yadav (21), managing daily operations. Chinhat inspector, Dinesh Chandra Mishra said Pushpa, while talking on her phone, stepped out of her room around midnight. Diwakar and a few staff allegedly made inappropriate remarks, leading to a heated argument. Pushpa later left the hotel on a bike with Akash, a property dealer from Ayodhya's Gosaiganj area, currently residing in Vishnu Vihar colony, Matiyari. DCP East, Shashank Singh said that during their ride, Pushpa narrated the incident to Akash. He dropped her on the way, returned to the hotel. Following a complaint from co-owner Devendra, an FIR for murder was filed against Akash and Pushpa. The couple was later arrested in Chinhat. Police said Akash already has two criminal cases, including charges of assault and illegal firearms. "Both have been taken into custody, and the weapon used in the crime is being traced. Akash will be booked under the Arms Act as well," Singh said. Diwakar's family reached Lucknow at the post-mortem house. His younger brother, Prabhakar said that Diwakar came to Lucknow four months ago. The deceased's father, Satish Kumar Yadav said that his son left home saying he was going to work in Lucknow. "We were not aware that Diwakar was working in a hotel," the family said, adding, "Last night, our nephew called informing us there had been a scuffle and everyone was at the police station. When we reached Lucknow, we learned about the murder."

Acting on leads, a police team led by Brahmavar circle inspector Gopikrishna, and comprising sub-inspector Raghavendra C and team arrested Imran alias Kuttu and Irshad . Police also seized the vehicle used in the crime. Imran,31, hails from Pudu in Bantwal taluk and is involved in 35 cases including theft, cow slaughter, unlawful assembly, rioting, attempt to murder, and arms act violations across Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Hassan districts, and Mangaluru city. Irshad,30, hails from Ganjimutt and has 14 cases including theft, cow slaughter, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Arms Act, attempt to murder, and dacoity in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru districts, and Mangaluru city police limits. The complainant, Jayaprakash Shetty,48, a resident of Hardalli Mandalli village in Kundapur taluk, stated that he received a video on his mobile phone on Saturday, while attending a grama sabha meeting. Upon watching the video, it was revealed that at 3.50am the same day, three masked thieves arrived from the Hunsemakki side in a four-wheeler. Near the Bidkalakatte market area, they got down from the vehicle, caught hold of a cow that was lying there, tied it with a rope, and forcefully dragged it into their vehicle in a brutal manner before fleeing from the scene. A case was registered at Kota police station.
