Experts say the shipwreck helps tell the story of Chinese migration through the South of the country during the Victorian gold rush.
This prosperous era between 1851 and the late 1860s was marked by an influx of money and population growth due to many people seeking fortunes.
Spokesperson for the Australian National Maritime Museum, James Hunter, told Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) that archaeologists had uncovered several components of the ship.

He said that they had located the ship's windlass - which is a device that raises and lowers equipment to the ship sticking out of the seabed.
The spokesperson said: "We looked at things like the depth of the ship — the draught — and we've looked at the water depth it's sitting in, and that all seems to line up really well."
He also said that researchers found a "magnetic anomaly", about the same length as the 140-foot ship.

's Department for Environment and Water and Flinders University for making the find.
They hailed it as a "significant discovery" and added that "

monitoring visits are planned to further assess the site and uncover more of this important piece of maritime history".
SilentWorld said the discovery could not have been possible without hard work.
The project to locate the ship lasted several years.
They described visibility in the sea as "challenging", and added that teamwork with the department led to the "incredible" find.
Their search was hampered by "sand blizzards".
Hunter told ABC the ship may have run aground on the seabed and was eventually buried by sand.
Their team believed they had found the wreckage three years earlier, but Hunter said the sand made identification difficult.
The research team are planning to return to the site, hoping to find more of the wreckage intact.

WHO says all Covid-19 origin theories still open, after inconclusive study
All hypotheses on how the Covid-19 pandemic began remain open, the World Health Organization said Friday, following an inconclusive four-year investigation that was hamstrung by crucial information being withheld. The global catastrophe killed an estimated 20 million people, according to the WHO, while shredding economies, crippling health systems and turning people's lives upside-down. The first cases were detected in Wuhan in China in late 2019, and understanding where the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid came from is seen as key to preventing future pandemics. However, a lengthy investigation launched by the UN's health agency said that pending further data, the origins of Covid and how it first spread would remain inconclusive. "As things stand, all hypotheses must remain on the table, including zoonotic spillover and lab leak," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a press conference, referring to the two main hypotheses as to how the pandemic began. Expert investigation After much delay, a WHO team of experts went to Wuhan in January 2021 to look into the origins of the virus in cooperation with their Chinese counterparts. Their March 2021 joint report concluded that the most likely hypothesis was that the virus jumped from bats to humans via an intermediate animal. They also deemed the theory that it might have escaped from Wuhan's virology laboratories "extremely unlikely". However, that investigation faced harsh criticism for lacking transparency and access, and for not evaluating the lab-leak theory seriously. The WHO launched another investigation, setting up the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) in July 2021. The report by the group of 27 experts was published on Friday. "Until further requests for information are met, or more scientific data becomes available, the origins of SARS-CoV-2 and how it entered the human population will remain inconclusive," SAGO chair Marietjie Venter said at the press conference. She added that it was "not yet clear" if the Wuhan seafood market was where the virus first spilled over into humans. As for lab leak theories, she said much of the information needed to assess this hypothesis had not been made available, so it "could not be investigated, or excluded". 'Crucial question' "Over the past five years, we have learned a lot about Covid-19 but there is one crucial question about the pandemic that we have not yet answered: how it started," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. He said SAGO had advanced understanding of the origins of Covid-19 but much of the information needed to evaluate fully all the hypotheses had not been provided. "Despite our repeated requests, China hasn't provided hundreds of viral sequences from individuals with Covid-19 early in the pandemic, more detailed information on animals sold at markets in Wuhan, and information on work done and biosafety conditions at laboratories in Wuhan," he said. "WHO is also aware of intelligence reports performed by other governments around the world on the origins of Covid-19. We have also requested access to those reports." US President Donald Trump's administration has officially embraced the lab leak theory. Tedros said finding out how Covid-19 started was a moral imperative for the sake of those who lost their lives in the pandemic. He also said the virus was continuing to evolve, take lives and leave people suffering with post-Covid conditions, or so-called long Covid.

Good news for hurley makers as ash trees evolving resistance to dieback, new study reveals
New generations of wild ash trees are rapidly evolving resistance to the fungus devastating their numbers, scientists have discovered, giving a sliver of hope to hurley makers worried about the dieback crisis that has engulfed the game. The discovery gives hope, the researchers said, and shows allowing the natural regeneration of woodlands is vital to enabling this evolution to take place. However, it remains too early to say if the development of resistance in the ash trees can outpace the destruction being caused by the ash dieback fungus. The genetic analysis is also a scientific breakthrough. It is the first convincing proof of a prediction made by Charles Darwin that significant changes in organisms can result from natural selection driving very many small changes, not just from one or two obvious ones. Ash dieback is caused by the invasive Hymenoscyphus fraxineus fungus, which is also killing trees across Europe. It is expected to wipe out up to 85% of the older, non-resistant ash trees, incurring costs in the millions. The Irish Examiner reported in April that the supply of ash suitable for hurley making could be exhausted within three years. Disease-resistant ash trees have been planted, but it could be 30 years before they mature into hurley-making timber, and that is if they are in fact immune to the disease. Previous studies found apparent resistance in some ash saplings, but the new study gives in-depth genetic information that could help breeding programmes to support the natural recovery of ash trees. 'Our new findings give us new hope,' said Professor Richard Buggs, at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and Queen Mary University of London: 'Elm trees have struggled to evolve to Dutch elm disease, but ash produce an abundance of seedlings upon which natural selection can act when they are still young. Through the death of millions of ash trees, a more resistant population of ash is appearing.' Professor Richard Nichols, also at Queen Mary University, said: 'We have to be cautious. We can't say the ash is saved, but we are in a position to say it's looking promising.
