Brad Hewitt-trained star The Locomotive on track for big run in Sweden harness racing feature
Hewitt has been back home for almost three weeks since driving The Locomotive into a luckless sixth placing in a heat of the iconic Elitlopp at the Solvalla track in Stockholm.
'You feel a bit strange and helpless back here, but the plan was always to leave him there in good hands for a few races after the Elitlopp,' he said.
The Locomotive drew too wide in his Elitlopp heat, but is much better suited from gate four in the Group 1 Stora Pris, which is scheduled for 6.30am Sunday morning (Australian time).
'Everything I'm hearing from over there is good, but it's hard to measure because they worry about the times he's running in work.
'I felt we had him in a terrific spot when I left and I just wish he'd been able to race a week after or at least sooner than three weeks later like this because he really didn't have a hard run at all.
'I just hope they've got enough work into him in between runs because he's a horse who needs it.
'If he's where he was at Elitlopp time and given the much better barrier, I'm sure he's a big top three chance this week.
'I'd love to see him lead, but even if he just settles handy without being outside the leader, it would be much better than getting back to last like the Elitlopp.'

Importantly, the Stora Pris is the race former Aussie trotting champion Just Believe ran a fantastic second in two years ago.
Hewitt said there was no rush to bring The Locomotive home.
'It will be a race-by-race thing to see how he's going, but he's missing the Inter Dominion and there's not much else really big for him until early next year, so he can stay a while and then have a spell when he returns,' he said.
As much as Hewitt would have loved to have stayed longer in Sweden, many of the other stars of his Goulburn stable have feature race targets at home.
Open-class star Captains Knock opens his campaign aimed at next month's Brisbane campaign when he clashes with Miracle Mile hero Don Hugo in the Golden Mile at Menangle on Saturday night.
'He needs a couple of runs before Brisbane. While he's ready to go, it's a strong race first-up and I don't want him having a gut-buster at this early stage,' he said.
'He's still a little bit off his peak, so I know there's plenty of improvement to come from this run.'
Hewitt also has a Brisbane trip booked in with his exciting youngster Rewatch, who will trial against older rivals at Goulburn tomorrow.
'He'd going well and we'll get a good guide because there's a couple of handy ones in the trial,' he said.
The Mick Harvey-owned Rewatch, who boasts two wins and a second in the Group 1 Bathurst Gold final from his three starts, will run in the Ladbrokes slot in Australasia's richest two-year-old race, the $500,000 Protostar at Albion Park on July 12.

News Corp form analyst Brad Waters runs his eye over Saturday's meeting at Flemington finding five horses to follow and forgive from the card. FENESTELLA (2.1 length 4th of 5, Race 1): The Shane Nichols -trained filly ran fourth over 1200m at Seymour on debut last month but went around at big odds despite being only one of five runners in the first race at Flemington. The race was a slowly-run affair, causing Fenestella to be flat-footed when the sprint went on early in the straight. Angela Jones' Mum as proud as punch over history-making feats in claiming Queensland jockeys' premiership
The proud Mum of history-making Brisbane jockey Angela Jones says there was no talking her daughter out of a career in racing, despite the family's initial apprehension. Julie Nedelkovski was the happiest woman at Eagle Farm on Saturday as the feats of her record-breaking daughter were celebrated. Angela Jones went where no female jockey had ever gone before when she claimed the recently finished Brisbane jockeys' premiership, warding off great mate and top apprentice jockey Emily Lang. Unlike many jockeys, Jones comes from a family with no racing background. Growing up in the Queensland bush, Jones decided she wanted to try to pursue a career as a jockey but had to talk her Mum and the rest of her family into it. 'We were worried about the dangers of horse racing, we love her so much and we didn't want her to be in any danger,' Nedelkovski said. 'We didn't know much about the whole industry and we were a bit worried. 'I was very cautious, because of the danger aspect. 'But Angela was very determined and she held her ground. 'She is very easy going but when she wants to do something, there is no stopping her.' Nedelkovski, who now lives in Toowoomba, said her daughter had a 'real connection with horses' right from the time she first sat on horseback. The family – which was initially cautious about Jones becoming a jockey – now gets a huge thrill when they tune into the horse racing coverage to watch her ride. But as proud as Mum is of her daughter's riding, she is even prouder at the way the young jockey conducts herself off the track. Jones is engaged to be married to fellow jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor who often tells the family what a jockey star she is. 'She is so humble – she never plays herself up, she never promotes her ability,' Nedelkovski said. 'It's other people who tell me that, Kyle will tell me how good she is. 'But you never hear that from her.' It was a thrilling end to the Brisbane premiership season with Jones clinging onto a two-win margin over champion apprentice Lang in the city riding premiership. They were also interesting times for champion Queensland trainer Tony Gollan, seeing as both jockeys are key riders for him. 'I certainly didn't favour one of them over the other one in the last couple of months of the season,' Gollan said. 'I just tried to get them on the right horses which suited both of them. 'I am very lucky to have both of these young ladies riding for my stable.' The star young female jockeys took part in an autograph signing session at Eagle Farm on Saturday, engaging the next generation of racing fans at a families' day at the Brisbane racetrack.

Apprentice hoop Matthew Chadwick nails double at Murray Bridge to continue strong form
Apprentice jockey Matthew Chadwick continued a brilliant run of form on Saturday, snaring a double as the metro season kicked off at Murray Bridge. Chadwick, 26, piloted Thermodynamic ($20 Sportsbet) to an upset win for trainer Nicole Irwin, before guiding in-form gelding Morris Minor ($6.50) home for a one-length win for Morphettville handler Craig Curtis. The Victorian hoop, previously apprenticed to Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, made the move to South Australia last September in search of opportunity and has scored 19 winners in that time as stable apprentice to Chris Bieg. A purple patch of form has seen Chadwick boot home five winners over the past week, including a double at Morphettville last Saturday to finish the 2024-25 metro season. 'Obviously I finished last season with a fair bit of momentum,' Chadwick said after winning aboard Thermodynamic. 'I just really want to keep that going through the early part of this season, and hopefully continue it on for the whole season.'
