Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest live results: Joey Chestnut makes epic return
The ones that belong to Joey Chestnut, the masticating machine who returns to the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest in Coney Island, New York, on Friday, July 4 after a one-year ban.
The Action Network, a betting company, on Tuesday announced new data that shows Chestnut has a 93% chance of winning the contest. But slightly unscientific data from USA TODAY Sports indicates Chestnut's chances of winning are closer to 99.9%.
In the last 18 years, he has failed to win the Mustard Belt two times. Once was last year — the result of a ban over a contract dispute.
In 2015, he lost to Matt Stonie, who ate 62 hot dogs and buns while Chestnut inexplicably ate only 60 hot dogs and buns.
Since then, "Jaws" has been on a rampage. Chestnut has eaten at least 70 hot dogs in six of the eight contests since his loss to Stonie.
That includes his record-breaking 76 hot dogs in 2021.
Last year, Patrick Bertoletti won the contest by eating 58 hot dogs and buns. Chestnut topped that total in every Nathan's contest he's been in since 2010.
USA TODAY Sports will provide the latest updates, highlights, results and more throughout the contest. Follow along.

Miki Sudo assesses performance after winning women's contest
Sudo was trying to make sense of her showing after eating 33 hot dogs and buns. That was 18 fewer than her record-breaking 51 last year and her lowest total since finishing with 30 ¾ in 2021.
'I feel like I let the fans down a little bit," Sudo told ESPN. 'I had people in the crowd saying go for 52, and obviously I'm always setting my goals high. But the hot dogs just weren't cooperating. For some reason the buns felt larger today.''
Sudo devoured eight hot dogs in the first minute, then consumed an average of less than three hot dogs per minute before the 10-minute contest was over.
In the end, she had her 11th title in 11 contests.
'I guess I refuse to lose," she said. 'I refuse to give him. And even when I do stumble, I get right back up.''

Nathan's Hot Dog Contest eater disqualified for violation of rules
The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest this year came with a footnote. One of the eaters was disqualified. The women's standings shown on a graphic on the event organizer's social media site listed 'Madison Barone (DQ).'' She's not listed in the final results distributed by Major League Eating, which runs the contest. So what happened? "Ms. Barone experienced urges contrary to swallowing after the contest but before the conclusion of presentations and the awarding of places," said Sam Barclay, director of operations at Major League Eating,. "By Major League Eating rules, urges contrary to swallowing before the conclusion of the event, including presentations and the awarding of prizes, results in a DQ." 'Urges contrary to swallowing' translates to getting sick. Barone, a 24-year-old from Manville, New Jersey, did not immediately respond to an interview request sent by email. George Shea, who has served as the contest announcer since 1991, said he was unaware of any such incident taking place at the time. And he was averse to using graphic language to characterize what took place. "We will only say urges contrary to swallowing.'' Shea told USA TODAY Sports. "We never utter other words. It is like saying Voldemort." Miki Sudo won the women's competition with 33 hot dogs and buns during the 10-minute contest.

Many fans showed up to see Chestnut's much-awaited return to an event he has called 'a cherished tradition, a celebration of American culture, and a huge part of my life.' 2025 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest: Results, highlights as Joey Chestnut dominates, Miki Sudo claims 11th title
Everyone's favorite Fourth of July tradition is back, with the 2025 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest going down Friday at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York, and both multi-year champions continued their dominance. Joey Chestnut blew away the competition in his return to the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut took down 70.5 hot dogs for the win, 24 more than the next closest competitor. While it was an impressive performance, it wasn't a record. Chestnut came close, but couldn't beat his 2021 record of 76 hot dogs. Advertisement Patrick Bertoletti, who won the event last season, finished second with 46.5 hot dogs and buns consumed. It marked the 17th time Chestnut won the event and the ninth time in the last 10 years he came away with the win. Chestnut returned to the event after a one-year ban over sponsorship issues. Due to his partnership with Impossible Foods, Chestnut was not allowed to take part in the event in 2024, which allowed Bertoletti to pick up a win. Cooler heads prevailed ahead of the contest in 2025, with Chestnut announcing in June that he was able to return. He lived up to that return Friday, picking up yet another impressive victory in the competition. Advertisement On the women's side, Miki Sudo stormed away with the win Friday, though didn't turn in a record-breaking performance. Sudo won the event after consuming 33 hot dogs in 10 minutes. She defeated runner-up Michelle Lesco by over 10 hot dogs. Lesco finished with 22 3/4 hot dogs. With the win, Sudo has now won the event in 11 of the past 12 years. The one year she missed out, Sudo did not take part in the competition due to her pregnancy. Here's how this year's contest went down:
