Lekhpals to check illegal bldgs sprouting in New Noida villages

Time of India08-07-2025
Noida: To curb illegal construction in the upcoming New Noida (DNGIR) region, the Noida Authority has appointed two lekhpals to monitor development activity across 80 villages, 20 in GB Nagar and 60 in Bulandshahr.
The lekhpals will coordinate with the revenue department to identify unauthorised construction and submit weekly reports to the authority. Their appointments were formalised through an official order issued on July 4.
The two officers, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Manoj Kumar Dubey, will each oversee 30 villages in Bulandshahr and 10 in Gautam Budh Nagar. Officials said any construction undertaken without approval within the notified area after the Master Plan 2041 (DNGIR) was cleared in October 2024 will face strict enforcement action.
Approved by the state govsernment last year, the Master Plan 2041 envisions the development of New Noida in four phases, spanning a total area of 20,911 hectares. The first phase (2023–2027) will see the development of 3,165 hectares, followed by 3,798 hectares in the second phase (2027–2032). The third phase (2032–2037) will cover 5,908 hectares, and the final phase (2037–2041) will develop the remaining 8,230 hectares.

Land for the project will be acquired on a mutual consent basis with farmers. Discussions on compensation rates are currently underway, and the final proposal will be placed before the authority's board for approval. In the initial phase, the authority plans to acquire land from 15 villages. Meetings are being held with affected families to explain the acquisition process and compensation packages.
Bulandshahr DM and vice-chairperson of the Khurja Development Authority were inducted into the Noida Authority's board in April this year. While Gautam Budh Nagar DM was already a board member, Bulandshahr had no representation until now.

SI Reporter New Delhi IRFC share price: State-owned Indian Railway Finance Corporation (lRFC) shares were buzzing in trade on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, with the scrip rising up to 4.66 per cent to an intraday high of ₹136.90 per share. Around 1:30 PM, IRFC share price was trading 2.87 per cent higher at ₹134.55 per share. By comparison, BSE Sensex was trading 0.45 per cent higher at 82,553.46 levels. Why did IRFC share price rise in trade today? IRFC shares rose in today's trade after the company posted its strongest-ever quarterly performance for the June quarter of FY26 (Q1FY26), backed by robust earnings growth and operational improvements. IRFC, on Tuesday, reported double-digit growth in profit and a steady rise in revenue compared to the year-ago period. The company's total income rose to ₹6,918.24 crore in Q1FY26, up from ₹6,766.03 crore in Q1FY25 – marking the highest-ever quarterly revenue in its history. Profit After Tax (PAT) for the quarter grew 10.71 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to ₹1,745.69 crore, compared to ₹1,576.83 crore in the same period last year. This also represents IRFC's highest-ever quarterly PAT. Net interest margin (annualised) improved to 1.53 per cent, the best in the past three years, driven by better lending spreads and tighter cost management. IRFC's net worth now stands at ₹54,423.96 crore, a record high, with a book value of ₹41.65 per share. Additionally, the company's debt-to-equity ratio improved further to 7.44, highlighting a healthier balance sheet. It also retained the lowest overhead cost in the industry, reinforcing its reputation for operational efficiency. Notably, lRFC reported a continued streak of zero non-performing assets (NFIA), maintaining a clean loan book. Manoj Kumar Dubey, chairman and managing director of lRFC, said, "Our performance this quarter reflects the robustness of IRFC's financial strategy and its critical role in advancing the infrastructure goals of Indian Railways. As the sector undergoes unprecedented transformation, we are committed to driving financial innovation and maintaining operational excellence." "We continue to secure the very attractive cost of capital within the ecosystem of NBFC and true to our ethos we are sharing this benefit directly with our customers. The competitive edge with very low overhead cost coupled with Zero NPA and stable cash flows sets us apart in the industry, not just in pricing but in creating true partnership," Dubey added. This also marks the first full quarter since IRFC was accorded 'Navratna' status by the Government of India, which has given the company greater operational and investment autonomy. The status upgrade, along with record results, signals a strong strategic shift as IRFC expands its role beyond financing Indian Railways to a wider ecosystem of railway-linked infrastructure projects. 'In lRFC 2.0, the company is well on the growth path with proliferation of assets in the whole railway ecosystem with backward and forward linkage to railway centric projects,' IRFC said in a statement. Catch Stock Market LIVE Updates About IRFC IRFC, established in December 1986, is the dedicated funding arm of Indian Railways. Its primary objective is to mobilise funds from domestic and international markets to support the Extra Budgetary Resources required for the expansion and operation of Indian Railways. Governed by the Ministry of Railways, IRFC is predominantly owned by the Government of India. It raises capital through a variety of sources, including term loans and bonds, enabling it to fulfil the financial needs of one of the largest railway networks in the world.

Adani Ports, 2 others vie to build 174-acre logistics park in Greater Noida

Three Gujarat-based firms — Adani Ports & SEZ, Super Handlers, and Empezar Logistics — have submitted proposals to set up a multimodal logistics park spread over 174 acres in Greater Noida. The initiative, which is projected to draw at least ₹1,200 crore investment, aligns with Uttar Pradesh's broader efforts to strengthen its industrial and logistics framework, according to The Economic Times. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) issued a call for proposals to lease the land on a 90-year term. The proposed logistics park will feature cargo yards, warehousing hubs, skill development centres, and other services related to cargo operations, the news report mentioned. Strategic location and policy support The logistics park site is strategically located near the under-construction Noida International Airport and offers direct connectivity to both eastern and western dedicated freight corridors. The land, located in Greater Noida's Kappa II sector, will be leased for 90 years. The project is part of the Greater Noida Master Plan 2041. Proposals will be reviewed by a screening committee and finalised by an allotment committee, The Economic Times report said. UP reserves land for multimodal logistics parks In December last year, the Uttar Pradesh government set aside 17,000 acres of land across the state to build multimodal logistics parks, as part of its plan to grow the economy to $1 trillion. These parks aim to streamline transportation and logistics by integrating various modes of transport with warehousing and distribution facilities at a single site. Companies investing a minimum of ₹1,000 crore in these projects may receive up to 30 per cent subsidy on land cost, as per the proposed state policy. The plan also includes several other incentives to attract private players, particularly in capital and land investment. Integrated cargo terminals under development The UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is the nodal agency for this initiative. It has identified land near expressways and highways close to major urban centres for the MMLPs. These hubs will house advanced infrastructure, including cold storage units, intermodal cargo terminals, modern warehouses, and offer services such as customs clearance, testing, packaging, and labelling under one roof. Additionally, the state's first multimodal waterway logistics terminal is under development in Varanasi. UPEIDA has also collaborated with ETH Zurich's RTDT Laboratories AG to assess ride quality and comfort on the state's expressway network.
