What about iOS?
Apple's rumored battery size is even more interesting when considering that iOS is considered to be more power-efficient than Android. A 5,500 mAh battery on a

Fold 7 .
Samsung cannot afford to let this gap grow, especially when Apple's entry into the foldable space will almost certainly bring mainstream attention to the category. If the
iPhone Fold delivers two-day endurance (on a moderate usage), it will set a new benchmark for what users expect from premium foldables.
The battery discussion also ties into another area where Samsung has room to grow: fast charging. While Chinese brands like Oppo and Honor have been offering 60W, 80W, or even 100W charging speeds on their foldables, Samsung's Z Fold lineup is still stuck with 25W wired charging.
If the Z Fold 8 introduces a larger battery to compete with Apple, it will also need faster charging to remain competitive. A 5,000 mAh battery with only 25W charging would feel outdated in 2026, especially as competitors continue to push technological boundaries. And they'll continue to push them, I can assure you.
The psychological side of things
There is also the psychological factor to consider. Apple entering the foldable market is not just about specs; it's about perception. Apple's devices are often seen as the benchmark for quality and reliability. If Apple markets its foldable as having better battery life than the Galaxy Z Fold, it will instantly set a narrative that Samsung will have to counter. Samsung has always thrived on being first and pushing new form factors, but now it will need to refine those innovations to ensure it doesn't look like it is trailing behind.
In a way, Apple's rumored 5,000 mAh battery could be the wake-up call Samsung needs. The next two years will be critical. Apple will undoubtedly make a splash with its first foldable, but Samsung has the experience and ecosystem advantage in this space – that's not to be ignored.

If we survive 2025, we'll get to see 2026 and with it, two extremely important foldables will (allegedly) arrive:For this article's sake, I'm deliberately excluding other potential foldables from Google, Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo/OnePlus, Vivo, Huawei, Motorola. I'm focusing on Apple and Samsung not just because these are the two most popular brands in the US (and in the world), but also because there's something else that binds them together.Yeah, I know: the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 has just arrived (it was unveiled on July 9) and hasn't been thoroughly tested by real world users yet. Its successor will be here in the summer of 2026, most likely. Theis more than a year away (it's probably going to materialize in late 2026). So why bother talking about such distant handsets? The future as a concept is something completely different when talking about the tech world. When talking about this or that person's future, things are sometimes extremely hard to predict, and it doesn't take much for life to take crazy, absolutely unimaginable turns. We all know how a billionaire CEO wasn't supposed to get his personal and professional life destroyed by appearing for five seconds on a kiss cam at a concert, but there you go.On the other hand, smartphone predictions are easier (and more fun). First, there are multiple leaks, because the phone production process involves numerous suppliers, factories, and third-party partners, making it difficult to keep everything confidential.Companies often finalize designs and components months before launch, so details naturally slip out through supply chains or certification databases. Additionally, we can speculate (with a great degree of certainty) about what a future phone will look like (or be like, generally speaking) based on its predecessor(s). And, based on its rivals. There's a spring of joy for those who crave large batteries in foldables: the upcomingmight pack a cell with a capacity between 5,000 and 5,500 mAh. Sure, that's behind the Oppo Find N5 (5,600 mAh) and the Honor Magic V5 (6,100 mAh), but it's Apple we're talking about here. If the rumor holds true, this could have a ripple effect that goes far beyond Apple.Samsung, which has been on the forefront of foldables for years (in terms of popularity, at least), might finally have to push the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to match or even surpass this capacity. For context, the currentstill lingers at 4,272 mAh. While Samsung has made strides in optimizing power consumption through efficient Snapdragon chips and better displays, the reality is that battery life remains one of the most important aspects of a phone for buyers. So, if Apple enters the scene with a significantly larger battery, the pressure will be immense for Samsung to respond. For years, Samsung has been limited by the slim form factor of its Fold series, which leaves little room for a bigger battery without adding bulk. This is the challenge that all foldable manufacturers face, but Apple's rumored ability to fit a 5,000+ mAh battery in a device that's also thin could force Samsung to rethink its design philosophy. It could mean thicker devices or more innovative battery solutions like stacked battery technology, something that has been rumored for future Galaxy devices.

Samsung could pull off the impossible with next year's Galaxy S26 Edge

Despite reportedly not selling very well around the world (at least ahead of a massive recent wave of super-hefty discounts), the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge is all but guaranteed to get a sequel at some point in 2026. The Galaxy S26 Edge could be released a lot earlier in the year than its forerunner and face additional public scrutiny as a "main" member of Samsung's next big high-end handset family alongside a "standard" S26 model and a top-of-the-line S26 Ultra . This is something that's been rumored for a little while now, and the key strengths and selling points of Samsung's Galaxy S25 Plus replacement are purportedly "confirmed" today by one of the most reliable social media leakers out there. According to @UniverseIce, aka Ice Universe, aka PhoneArt, the S26 Edge will somehow be thinner than this year's S25 Edge while also bumping up the battery capacity. The mediocre battery life, mind you, was (predictably) highlighted in our in-depth Galaxy S25 Edge review as the phone's biggest weakness, so it's definitely nice to hear that Samsung is planning to increase the modest 3,900mAh cell capacity. If Samsung pulls off a thinner phone than this with a 4,000mAh+ battery, my mind will be blown. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena Of course, it's not entirely clear how something like that would be possible if the already insanely thin 5.8mm profile is set to go down, although "PhoneArt" is offering us a precious (albeit vague) little hint. The Galaxy S26 Edge will apparently use "new battery material technology" of some sort to achieve what seemed impossible just a few short months ago. This can only be silicon-carbon (Si/C), which is the same material that has allowed the OnePlus 13, for instance, to squeeze a 6,000mAh cell into a sub-9mm profile, not to mention the absolutely bonkers new 6.32-inch OnePlus 13T with a 6,260mAh battery under the hood. The problem with Si/C tech is battery degradation, which can be drastically faster and more severe than in the case of traditional lithium-ion cells used by devices like the Galaxy S25, S25 Edge , S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. It remains to be seen if Samsung will ultimately decide that the advantages of switching to new battery technology outweigh the risks, and of course, I'm sure we're all dying to find out exactly how much the S26 Edge will improve cell capacity and reduce thickness. If that's the case, the compact S26 is likely to keep the 6.2-inch S25's 4,000mAh cell capacity more or less unchanged, which means that Samsung could embrace the groundbreaking aforementioned silicon-carbon battery material for only one member of the super-premium 2026 smartphone family as a small-scale experiment potentially leading to something bigger in 2027. It's premature to have any guarantees, but the S26 Ultra could look a lot like the S25 Ultra. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena

The Pixel Watch 2 is $100 off and a perfect match for your Pixel phone

Pixel phone users, now's the time to add a Pixel Watch to your ecosystem! Which one should you get? The Pixel Watch 2 — if you're looking to save big, of course. Right now, both the Wi-Fi-only and the LTE models sell for $100 off at Amazon, giving you great value for money. $100 off (40%) The Pixel Watch 2 might not be the latest Google wearable, but it packs a punch at its current Amazon price. Right now, you can save $100 on the model with Wi-Fi connectivity, which brings it to a way more affordable price. Buy at Amazon $100 off (33%) Want LTE on your wrist? No worries! The LTE-enabled Pixel Watch 2 is also on sale, offered for $100 off its original price. The promo is available across colorways, letting you pick your favorite model without missing out. Buy at Amazon Even though Prime Day saw a slightly steeper $120 discount, this deal is still a win — especially considering how much more the new Pixel Watch 3 costs at the moment. So, don't wait up and grab the Wi-Fi option for just under $150 (down from $250), or get LTE on your wrist for less than $200. Beyond the tempting price cut, what makes this Google timepiece a good choice? Quite a bit, actually. It features a skin temperature sensor and an improved heart rate sensor to deliver more accurate health data throughout the active users, the wearable packs Heart Rate Zone Coaching and Pace Training extras. These tools help ensure you maintain an optimal pace, aligned with your fitness goals and exercise. What's more, the timepiece alerts you whenever you go out of your ideal heart rate zone. This might not sound like a big deal, but it's surprisingly useful for users who struggle to maintain a steady pace or want to avoid overexertion during training. Like most smartwatches, this fella also monitors your sleep. You can expect pretty accurate data, though you'd need a Fitbit Premium subscription to get advanced sleep metrics. If you're still on the fence, we suggest checking out our Pixel Watch 2 review for extra details on overall experience, battery life, and more. But if the watch already sounds like a good fit, now's a great time to save $100 on it. Head to Amazon and take advantage of this tempting promo before it expires.

Redmi 15 5G specs leak: 6.9" 144Hz display, huge battery and a surprising chipset

We've been seeing leaks for a 4G-connected Redmi 15C over the last couple of weeks. Now info on a 5G model has surfaced with better than expected specs. The Redmi 15 5G is said to feature a 6.9' 1080p+ 144Hz display. Previous Redmi models commonly had 720p+ resolution, so this is a welcome upgrade. The high refresh rate is the cherry on top (usually, we see 120Hz). There's more – the phone will allegedly be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. That too is higher than normal as the Redmi number series typically uses Snapdragon 4-series chips for its 5G models (e.g. Redmi 13 5G and Redmi 14C 5G featured Snapdragon 4 Gen 2). It's a 6nm chip, so it's nothing too advanced, but it's still a class above the usual silicon we see in these phones. The chipset will be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage. The phone will launch with the tagline 'One Charge. Two days. Zero Worries.' and it justifies that with a massive 7,000mAh battery. Only two Xiaomi phones have a higher capacity – the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and Redmi K80 Ultra, both of which are high-end models. The charge speed is on the low side at just 33W. That's going to take a while to fill all 7,000mAh, but at least you'll only have to do it once every couple of days. The leak reveals additional detail, like a 50MP main camera joined only by a 2MP helper on the back, plus a fairly basic 8MP selfie camera. On the plus side, NFC is supported, which isn't always the case in some markets. Redmi 15 5G leaked specs Speaking of, the price is given as 'RM 699-RM 750', which reveals that this info comes from Malaysia. The price converts to $165-$180, by the way. For now, there is no information on when Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi 15 5G. Given all the leaks, we think that the Redmi 15C 4G is just around the corner, but these could have separate launches.
