A bittersweet weekend for IndyCar's Arrow McLaren at Laguna Seca
On paper, it was a solid weekend for the papaya squad, Arrow McLaren. Christian Lundgaard scored a podium, Pato O'Ward was a solid fourth and Nolan Siegel led his first laps of the 2025 season. But it came with a disappointing conclusion for Siegel and a championship likely lost for O'Ward. Lundgaard was the star of the day for the group. O'Ward rolled off second, but the Dane finished there from seventh after pitting earlier than his rivals to gain ground with an undercut. That led him to third, where he used a bold overtake to sneak past Colton Herta for the runner-up spot. He didn't have the pace to challenge frontrunner Alex Palou after a couple late cautions, but held onto second to give the organization its 11th podium on the year - a new high mark for the squad. 'I knew that the pit sequences are really key here,' Lundgaard said of his run. 'We went into this race not knowing if it was going to be a red (tire) race or a prime race. It ended up being a red race and I just can't thank this team enough.' O'Ward put together a complete weekend, qualifying second and finishing fourth on a day where the strategy and speed didn't fall his way. It was a solid result that continued a streak of success for the Mexican star. He's finished seventh or better in nine of the past 10 races, with two wins and five podiums. In many years, that would be enough to challenge for his first IndyCar title. But the consistency has come in a dominant year for Palou. The Chip Ganassi Racing star's seven (now eight) wins left O'Ward in need of major gains in Laguna Seca to have a chance to close within reach for the championship. But after Palou's win, he now holds a 120-point championship advantage with just three races remaining. The Spaniard could clinch the title next time out at Portland International Raceway. Barring an absolute meltdown - and despite O'Ward's best efforts - the championship battle likely ended Sunday under the California sun. Nolan Siegel, Arrow McLaren Then, there was Siegel. Running in his home state, the Palo Alto native was the only driver not named Palou to lead laps on Sunday. An alternate strategy put him out front for 11 laps early on before Palou surged past him in turn 3. Even after that, Siegel was still positioned to make the most of a race he'd started 16th in. But that all fell apart in the closing stages, when Siegel went for a spin at the Corkscrew. He attempted to make a pass on Louis Foster, but made contact and briefly looped around before rolling on. Siegel ultimately took the checkered flag in 18th, continuing a streak of four-straight races with an average finish of 21.75 after he'd scored results of eighth and 11th at Road America and Mid-Ohio. In the end, every driver at Arrow McLaren showed promise in Laguna Seca. Two of the team's drivers finished in the top-four spots and the other led laps. But with Siegel showing his inexperience and Palou continuing to dominate, there was little else on offer to be joyous about in the Java House Grand Prix of Monterey. Reinventing An Icon: The 2026 Honda Prelude Vs. Its 2001 Predecessor

(Photo by) Honda announced in December that Prelude is making its highly-anticipated return to the North American market for the 2026 model year, nearly 25 years after its last appearance. Although the new car will proudly wear the 'PRELUDE' badge, more than two decades of innovation will make it almost unrecognizable as a direct descendant of the original. To understand how different the all-new model will be when compared to the long-since-discontinued 2001 model, we took a closer look at the chassis, suspension, engine, technology, and pricing. When it arrived in 1997, the fifth-generation Prelude rode on a modified Honda Accord platform. While the wheelbase was shorter, it shared suspension and braking components with the Accord—double-wishbones at all four corners, and disc brakes with a single sliding caliper inside each wheel (the front rotors were ventilated). The 2026 Prelude will share a chassis with the Honda Civic—more specifically, the performance-tuned Type R model. It will feature an innovative dual-axis front suspension, paired with a multi-link rear suspension. There are massive two-piece ventilated brake rotors, with four-piston Brembo calipers, on the front axle. The rear axle will be fitted with disc brakes with single-piston calipers. The 2001 Honda Prelude had 16-inch wheels and 205/55-16 tires—small by today's standards, even though the SH model had slightly wider wheels. Expect the new Prelude to ride on 19- or 20-inch wheels and have significantly wider tires (keep in mind that the performance-oriented 2025 Honda Civic Type R is fitted with 19-inch wheels and 265/30ZR19 tires). Under the hood, the 2001 Prelude featured a standard naturally aspirated 2.2-liter four-cylinder (H22A4 VTEC engine), rated at 200 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque, which sent all the power to the front wheels. A 5-speed manual gearbox was standard, but customers could also opt for a 4-speed automatic transmission. It's an entirely different story with the 2026 Honda Prelude, which has an advanced hybrid powertrain combining an Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with Honda's e:HEV dual-motor hybrid system—one motor for propulsion, and a second for electricity generation (the Prelude won't have a turbocharged engine like the Civic Type R). Power estimates are 200 horsepower and 285 lb-ft for torque. While it retains a front-wheel drive powertrain, the standard transmission is the Honda S+ Shift system—an innovative gear shift simulation system with a sporty S+ Shift drive mode. It will be much quicker than its predecessor—expect the 0-60 mph time to be in a brisk 6 seconds (this rate of acceleration positions the new Prelude favorably against its two primary rivals, the Toyota GR86 and Mazda MX-5 Miata). There was no 'infotainment' option on the last-year 2001 Honda Prelude. Instead, it was equipped with a standard AM/FM stereo, CD player, and six speakers. While it did feature Honda's Acoustic Feedback Sound System (AFB), the only driver interface was a one-line monochromatic LCD. Expect the all-new Prelude to arrive with a robust infotainment system, featuring at least a 9-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, and HondaLink connected services for remote vehicle access and information. In terms of pricing, the Prelude has always been one of Honda's premium products. In 2001, the last year it was sold in the United States, the base price (MSRP) of the base Honda Prelude was approximately $24,040 (the higher trim, the Prelude SH, started around $26,540). Honda has not released pricing for the new model, but most experts believe it will have a base price between $31,000 and $38,000—I'd wager towards the more expensive pricing, especially for a premium trim. In short, the all-new 2026 Honda Prelude will be larger, more comfortable, more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and equipped with far more advanced technology than its predecessor—making it a great value, even with a $10,000 price increase after 25 years.

Musk says Tesla, Samsung Electronics sign $16.5 billion chip supply deal

Samsung shares rose more than 4% after the news. "Samsung's giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla's next-generation AI6 chip. The strategic importance of this is hard to overstate," Musk said in a post on X on Monday. If Musk was referring to Samsung's upcoming Taylor, Texas, plant, the deal could revive the project that has faced delays amid Samsung's struggles to retain and win major customers. "Samsung agreed to allow Tesla to assist in maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This is a critical point, as I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress. And the fab is conveniently located not far from my house," Musk said on his social media platform. Samsung had earlier announced the $16.5 billion chip supply deal without naming the client, saying the customer had requested confidentiality about the details of the deal, which will run through the end of 2033. Three sources briefed about the matter told Reuters that Tesla was the customer for the deal. The deal comes as Samsung faces mounting pressure in the race to produce artificial intelligence chips, where it trails rivals such as TSMC and SK Hynix.
