ESPN senior writer Mark Ogden says Marcus Rashford's expected move to Barcelona "suits everybody".Rashford has passed a medical before an initial 12-month loan, which includes an option to buy for £30.3m (35m euros). The 27-year-old has not played for United since being dropped by Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby on 15 December last year, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa."I thought at the outset that this is the one club Marcus Rashford would be prepared to take a pay cut to join because it's Barcelona and a dream move for him," Ogden told BBC Radio Manchester's The Devils' Advocate podcast."I know he's Barcelona's third choice because they missed out on Nico Williams and Luis Diaz - but he's still a player with a big reputation."United fans have fallen out of love with Rashford and this is long overdue him leaving. It's a matter of time before it is done and it suits everybody."Barcelona have agreed to cover Rashford's wages for the duration of his loan after he accepted a 25% pay cut, saving United about £14m."It gets him off the wage bill and might free up some money for United to get another player in," Ogden added."From United's perspective, even if he goes there and has a decent season but they don't sign him, he will come back as a Barcelona player. His value and reputation will remain unless he has an absolute shocker, which I don't think he will."I don't really see a down side to this from United's perspective."Listen to the full episode on BBC Sounds

Man Utd transfer news: Benjamin Sesko boost as clear message sent over another striker target

Manchester United are still in the market for a centre-forward this summer after missing out on a whole host of targets who ended up moving to their Premier League rivals Manchester United have spent £133.5million on two forwards in the summer transfer window, yet still remain without a proven centre-forward. ‌ The club have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolves and Brentford respectively, with young left-back Diego Leon the only other first-team addition so far. That will come as a disappointment for Ruben Amorim, who wanted deals wrapped up before the pre-season tour. ‌ United are now in Chicago on that tour and are still yet to address many of the issues in their squad. One of the most obvious is the lack of goals, after they managed just 44 in 38 Premier League games as they finished 15th last season. ‌ Rasmus Hojlund scored 10 goals in 52 games in total, four of which came in the league, and with Marcus Rashford having left on loan for Barcelona, there is a need for a new striker. Mirror Football understands that, after negotiations for Mbeumo dragged on, there is a feeling that United may start the Premier League season on August 17 without a new striker. They will hope that isn't the case – and here are the latest reports. Sesko boost RB Leipzig have reduced their asking price for Benjamin Sesko in a boost for United. Earlier in the summer, Arsenal were put off by the German side demanding a fee between £68m and £85m. But now it has been suggested that €70m (£60m) would be enough to secure his services. United were beaten to the signings of Liam Delap by Chelsea, to Hugo Ekitike by Liverpool and to Viktor Gyokeres by Arsenal. But their head of scouting Christopher Vivell has been to watch Sesko personally and is pushing for a deal to happen. The 22-year-old got 22 goals in 45 games last season and is under contract with Leipzig until June 2029. United would likely need to offload the likes of Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho before they could afford another big outlay. ‌ Kolo Muani demoted Another striker United have been linked with is Randal Kolo Muani, who is very much available from Paris Saint-Germain. He has been sent to train with the PSG youth team by manager Luis Enrique, who has made it clear he has no future with the club. The France international spent last season on loan with Juventus, who have seen a few bids rejected by PSG. He is now in the PSG bomb squad, along with Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele and Renato Sanches. The problem is Kolo Muani still has three years on his contract after signing from Eintracht Frankfurt for £76.4m two years ago. PSG reportedly want £52m for his signature, but Juve will push for another loan. ‌ United miss out on teenager Tyrese Noubissie is leaving Manchester City 's academy this summer, but won't be moving across the city to United. The MEN report that French side Strasbourg have won the race for his services, having convinced the 16-year-old that his development would be best served with them. The French central midfielder was identified as a potential signing by United, who know that recruiting players domestically is easier since Brexit. But Noubissie is heading abroad after confirming his exit from the Etihad. "After an incredible two years filled with hard work and dedication, It's time for me to turn a page and face a new challenge,' he said on Monday. Euro 2025 has been a wild ride. Are you enjoying the drama?

The end is in sight and so is the trophy. And, somehow, England still have their eyes on the prize. Euro 2025 has been a tournament of unlikely comebacks for Sarina Wiegman's team. They lost their opening game to France but rallied and made it through to the knockouts; they went 2-0 down to Sweden in the quarter-finals but came back to win a preposterous penalty shootout; and they looked beaten in their semi-final against Italy but somehow found an equaliser in the 96th minute and a winner in the 120th minute. The champions are not letting go of their trophy lightly. Have you been enjoying the drama? Whether you have watched matches in Switzerland, fan parks, pubs or on the edge of your sofa, we would love to hear from you. Is there a buzz of excitement about the final? Which teams have impressed you? Who will be crowned champions on Sunday? Does this tournament feel like a step up in quality from the previous Euros three years ago? England's Keira Walsh hopes Spain can enjoy a controversy-free final after Rubiales affair

Keira Walsh has said she hopes Spain's players are able to 'just enjoy the game of football' when they face England in the Euro 2025 final on Sunday after their World Cup final victory two years ago was overshadowed by Luis Rubiales's actions afterwards. Walsh was a Barcelona player at the time of the 2023 World Cup and witnessed close up the fallout from Rubiales's inappropriate actions, including the kiss the Spanish football federation president landed on Jenni Hermoso. 'It's difficult because I didn't understand the Spanish conversations that were going on,' she said on Thursday, the day after Spain beat Germany to reach the final in Switzerland. 'So for the girls, this time, as a friend and a fellow footballer, I want them to just go and enjoy this final – they play incredible football and they deserve to be there. As a human being I just want them to go out and just enjoy the game of football.' Walsh experienced a huge explosion of the growth in the women's game in England after the Lionesses lifted a first major trophy at the 2022 Euros, with the domestic game and international matches seeing attendances spike and investments increase. However, Spain's midfield talisman Aitana Bonmatí has spoken about her frustration and disappointment that they did not experience a similar boom after their maiden World Cup win. 'I think they probably could have had more respect,' said Walsh. 'The way our league jumped after we won the Euros and everything in and around it, if you compare it to Spain it wasn't the same and they won the World Cup. They probably could have had more support. 'After the game there was a lot of controversy and I don't think, for them, there was enough spotlight on how incredible they played and how incredible some of their players were, it was all about the other stuff that had gone on. As a professional, that was disappointing to see. I have a lot of friends in that team and I think they deserved a little bit more than what they got.' England have had a bumpy ride to the final: they had to come from two goals down against Sweden to win on penalties and then one goal down to win in extra time against Italy, with Michelle Agyemang scoring late equalisers in both games. Walsh had never experienced anything like it. 'Obviously we come into every tournament and we want to reach the final,' the Chelsea midfielder said. 'Maybe the way we've done it is a little bit more stressful for everyone but the kind of the beauty of this team is that we are relentless and we've got belief in ourselves that even in the 90th minute we can get a goal and we can win and that's what's really special about us at the minute.' Sign up to Moving the Goalposts No topic is too small or too big for us to cover as we deliver a twice-weekly roundup of the wonderful world of women's football after newsletter promotion Where the rest of the watching world sees chaos, there is more design, she said. 'When you're playing maybe it looks like chaos but for us it doesn't feel like that. I've also heard that people have been saying that it was luck, but I think for us you kind of create those moments yourself, through belief, determination, confidence. 'I don't think it is luck that Michelle's in the box and scoring. It is not luck that people are putting crosses in the box. It's thought out, it's purposeful and it's the absolute belief that no matter what minute of the game it is we're going to win or we're going to get the result that we need to take us to extra time.'
