Mamata Banerjee says BJP targeting Bengal migrants in Delhi: ‘Our people treated as infiltrators'
Accusing the BJP of 'exporting their anti-Bengal agenda to other parts of the country in a strategic and systemic manner,' the CM said she would raise the issue in every forum.
In a post on her X handle, the chief minister alleged that the Delhi government cut off the water and power supplies to force them to evacuate. 'I am deeply disturbed by the alarming news of harassment emerging from Jai Hind Colony in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi— a settlement predominantly inhabited by Bengalis who built the city as part of its unorganised workforce,' she wrote.
'Their water supply was reportedly cut on orders from the BJP-led government. Electricity meters were confiscated and power was abruptly cut the day before yesterday. Residents also claim Delhi Police, backed by RAF personnel, blocked private water tankers they had arranged and paid for. A forced eviction is currently underway despite the matter being sub-judice following another transgression last December by the Delhi Police,' she added.
'How can we claim to be a democratic republic if the basic rights to shelter, water, electricity are being trampled upon?.. There are over 1.5 crore migrant workers in Bengal who live with dignity. But the same cannot be said for BJP-ruled states, where Bengalis are being treated as infiltrators in their own country,' he added.
'Speaking Bengali does not make one a Bangladeshi. These individuals are as much citizens of India as anyone else, regardless of what language they speak. Having failed in their attempts to deprive Bengalis in West Bengal, BJP is now exporting their Bangla-Birodhi (anti-Bengali) agenda to other parts of the country in a strategic and systemic manner,' the chief minister said, adding similar 'disturbing reports have emerged from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh, where Bengali-speaking individuals are facing targeted persecution'.
'We will not remain silent while people from Bengal are treated like trespassers in their own country. Bengal stands in solidarity with every oppressed voice. We will raise this issue in every possible forum,' she added.
Meanwhile, a senior Delhi Police officer said the allegations made by the West Bengal CM were incorrect. 'We had gone there to ensure that a court order regarding electricity theft could be executed. Two power connections had to be cut, as per the orders, on Tuesday. Since then, there is no police presence at the camp,' the officer said. —With ENS, Delhi

Three, including two nuns, held for human trafficking in Chhattisgarh
RAIPUR: Three persons, including two Catholic nuns who had reportedly come from Agra, were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Durg on Friday for alleged human trafficking amid suspicion of coerced religious conversion. They were remanded to 14-day judicial custody, a police officer said. The trio were booked under BNS Section 143 (trafficking of persons). All three were caught accompanying three young women aged between 18 and 20 years, hailing from Narayanpur district in south Bastar, after Bajrang Dal activists spotted them at Durg railway station. The group was allegedly preparing to travel to Agra for training and subsequent employment opportunities. Bajrang Dal members staged demonstrations at the Durg GRP police station demanding strict action against those allegedly involved in human trafficking and forced religious conversion. 'The nuns had come to Durg merely a day before without any valid reason. They were about to board a train along with the rescued girls to Agra when we spotted them,' said Ravi Nigam, a Bajrang Dal leader. Members of the Christian community also gathered at the GRP Durg station and were seen defending the nuns. The two nuns — Preeti Marry and Vandana Francis — who had come from Agra, along with Sukhman Mandavi from Narayanpur, were produced before a local court in Durg and remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The rescued girls have been sent to the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Durg. Meanwhile, Congress MP K C Venugopal has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai seeking stringent action against the perpetrators. He also urged the government to uphold constitutional rights and religious freedom in the state. The Congress leader alleged that BJP-ruled states are witnessing a rampant rise in attacks on minorities. 'The latest attacks by Bajrang Dal goons on two Catholic nuns in Durg, Chhattisgarh, point to a tacit support for such hate crimes from the ruling establishment,' Venugopal wrote on X.

Mamata launches ‘language movement', condemns targeting of migrant's family in Delhi
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the targeting of a migrant's family in Delhi on the day her party launched a 'language movement' to protest against the targeting of migrants from the State in BJP-ruled States. 'Atrocious!! Terrible!! See how Delhi police brutally beat up a kid and his mother, members of a migrant family from Malda's Chanchal. See how even a child is not spared from the cruelty of violence in the regime of linguistic terror unleashed by BJP in the country against Bengalis! ,' the Chief Minister said on social media. Ms. Banerjee wanted to know, 'where are they [BJP led government] taking the country now?' On Sunday (July 27, 2025), protest marches were organised across the State in line with plans announced by the Trinamool Congress chairperson. Ms. Banerjee had on July 21, at a Martyrs Day rally, announced the start of a 'language movement' against the targeting of migrants in the BJP-ruled States. The Chief Minister had called for protests every weekend till the next year's Assembly polls. Language movement From the streets of Kolkata to districts across the State, hundreds of people participated in the protests which the Trinamool has described as a 'language movement.' Some protesters also held posters highlighting the Bengali alphabet implying that BJP-ruled States are targeting migrants for speaking in Bengali. Migrants from West Bengal have been detained in different States like Odisha, Haryana and Delhi on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals. Some migrants from West Bengal have also been pushed into Bangladesh. The Trinamool Congress chairperson has claimed that there is a directive issued by Ministry of Home Affairs to detain migrants and so far about 1,000 workers from the State has been detained in BJP ruled states. Along with the protests against migrants the Trinamool Congress has also raised concerns about the possibility of a SIR (Special Incentive Revision). 'The protest against SIR isn't just a reaction, it's a rejection of @BJP4India's plan to introduce the NRC through the backdoor! BJP is targeting poor, marginalised citizens with illegal notices, beyond their jurisdiction. It's a calculated attack on Bengal's identity, a violation of constitutional rights, and a war on the powerless,' the Trinamool Congress tweeted from its official handle, adding, 'We will defend every voice they're trying to erase!'

Remove non-biological PM too: Trinamool MP's taunt amid Bihar poll roll revision
In a fresh broadside against the BJP over the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee sarcastically demanded that the "non-biological" Prime Minister should be excluded from the list of eligible at an event in West Bengal's Hooghly district, Banerjee referenced PM Modi's past comments about being 'sent by God,' a remark that has since been used by several opposition leaders to mock the Prime PM Modi is non-biological and he is born spiritually as like Goddesses Kali, Durga and Lord Ram, then PM Modi is also not the Citizen of India. So his name should also be removed from the voter list,' Banerjee jibed. His taunt stems from a 2024 interview in which PM Modi said, 'Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, when I look at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God... I'm nothing but an instrument that God has sent.'Kalyan Banerjee's remarks came amid an escalating row over the SIR process in Bihar, which opposition parties have slammed as an attempt to disenfranchise voters ahead of the assembly elections later this year. The first week of Parliament's Monsoon session was a washout due to repeated disruptions over the issue, as the Opposition demanding an immediate halt to the supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also opposed the revision drive, calling it 'nothing short of a scam.' Echoing her, Kalyan Banerjee alleged that the SIR was designed to help the BJP manipulate the electoral process.'Earlier, the voters used to decide the government of the country... Now the government of the country is deciding who can vote or not. No one's name will be in the voter list except BJP or BJP people... Election Commission is also the same,' Banerjee senior Trinamool leader questioned the logic of house-to-house verification being undertaken as part of the SIR.'What is the point of going from house to house and checking the voter list... If I don't stay in my house at that time, then my name will be removed from the voter list. How does that make any sense?' he parties in Bihar have claimed that crores of eligible voters, especially minorities and the marginalised, could be struck off the rolls due to a lack of required documentation. They have accused the BJP of using state machinery to target voters who are likely to support rival BJP has defended the SIR as a standard administrative exercise aimed at cleaning up voter rolls. However, the timing and scale of the revision have triggered political pushback just months ahead of the Bihar elections.- EndsTune InMust Watch
