The Latest Update On ‘Squid Game: America' On Netflix
Squid Game season 3 has ended, but if you think that's the last you're going to see from the series, I wouldn't put money on it. And I don't just mean Netflix's ill-conceived game show.
Rather, the end of the Squid Game finale (spoilers) has the Frontman in America delivering billions to Gi-hun's daughter. As he leaves, randomly, in an alley he sees none other than actress Cate Blanchett playing the very Korean Ddakji game and slapping a man that she apparently is trying to recruit for an American version of Squid Game. But the creator of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, did not say this meant a US-based version was coming.
The idea of this scene is very weird, contextually, as the founder of Squid Game died in season 1, and now the Frontman runs the entire game, except he doesn't seem to know about this version. Or maybe the look on his face says he does? It's all very hard to parse, but like many things about the season finale, it doesn't make much sense.
But now the question is whether or not this was a true teaser for a Squid Game: America spinoff, a sort of MCU post-credits scene implying where things will head in the future. I believe that some people are convinced this is a reality, and I've even seen a fake Squid Game Universe timeline being circulated on social media. But the reality is more complicated.
Squid Game
A Squid Game: America series was in fact brought up a while ago. This is still technically the 'latest' news on an American Squid Game, despite being all the way back in October 2024, as we have heard nothing from Netflix about it since. The original report from Deadline relayed that David Fincher was developing a new English-language Squid Game series. This would not be a remake of the original series; this would be a new story, set in the US. It also comes after an even older story that Fincher may have done a Squid Game movie for Netflix. But the last report was a new show.
That is, in fact, the last report. We don't know if the Blanchett cameo and the new game reveal are definitely going to lead to a new series, but creator Hwang Dong-hyuk recently told EW 'I'm not trying to say that I'm going to close the door to spinoffs or sequels altogether because they say never say never.'
His main point of discussion was an idea he had about a Gi-hun show that took place between seasons 1 and 2, which would not feature an actual game. And it's likely that if there was an American series, it would be done by someone else, even if Hwang was consulting. Someone like Fincher.
Squid Game
Is this likely? The last big news involving David Fincher was that he was directing a Brad Pitt-starring sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino's original film. That's still casting and spooling up and will not be out for a while. Though Fincher 'developing' a Squid Game: America show would not be directing the whole thing, almost certainly.
I absolutely believe Netflix is going to try to make this happen and not let go of Squid Game. Season 1 has not been surpassed as the #1 show in Netflix history. Season 2 is inside the top 5, and season 3 is likely to be around that. Netflix won't stop now.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs jury decides on some counts; verdict not yet known
By Jack Queen and Luc Cohen NEW YORK (Reuters) -The jury at Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial has reached a verdict on four of the five counts the music mogul faces, the judge overseeing the case said on Tuesday, without revealing the outcome. After two days of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict on four charges: two counts of sex trafficking and two of transportation to engage in prostitution, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian announced. But the judge said the jury had not been able to reach a verdict on a fifth charge, racketeering conspiracy, because jurors had "unpersuadable opinions on both sides." He instructed the jury to continue deliberating on the racketeering conspiracy count. The jury will resume deliberations at 9 a.m. EDT (1300 GMT) on Wednesday. Combs, 55, had pleaded not guilty to all five counts. If convicted of sex trafficking or racketeering, the former billionaire known for elevating hip-hop in American culture could face life in prison. Before Subramanian read the jury's note, Combs rubbed his eyes and rested his face against his palm while seated at the defense table with his lawyers huddled around him. One defense lawyer, Brian Steel, rubbed Combs' shoulder. Two of Combs' other defense lawyers put their arms around each other. The partial verdict comes after a seven-week trial in which two of the music mogul's former girlfriends testified that he physically and sexually abused them. Prosecutors say Combs was charged with racketeering because for two decades he used his business empire to force two of his romantic partners to take part in drug-fueled, days-long sexual performances sometimes known as "Freak Offs" with male sex workers in hotel rooms while Combs watched, masturbated and occasionally filmed. His lawyers acknowledged that the Bad Boy Records founder, once famed for hosting lavish parties for the cultural elite in luxurious locales like the Hamptons and Saint-Tropez, was at times violent in his domestic relationships. But they said the sexual activity described by prosecutors was consensual. JURY ASKS TO REVIEW CASSIE'S TESTIMONY Earlier on Tuesday, the jury asked to review portions of the testimony of the rhythm and blues singer Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, who testified that Combs forced her to take part in "Freak Offs" throughout their decade-long relationship. The 12-member jury asked to review Ventura's testimony regarding a 2016 incident at an InterContinental hotel in Los Angeles, when a surveillance camera captured footage of Combs kicking and dragging Ventura in a hallway. Jurors saw the security camera footage several times throughout the trial. Prosecutors say that at the time of the incident, Ventura was attempting to leave a "Freak Off," Combs' term for a drug-fueled sex marathon in which he would watch Ventura have sex with a paid male escort while he masturbated and sometimes filmed. Prosecutors say that conduct amounted to sex trafficking because Combs used force and threats to cut off financial support or release sex tapes of Ventura to coerce her to take part in the performances, and because the escorts were paid. Combs' defense pointed to tender and sexually explicit text messages that Ventura sent Combs throughout their relationship to bolster their argument that she took part in the "Freak Offs" because she loved Combs and wanted to make him happy. They say the violent 2016 altercation stemmed from a dispute about Combs' relationship with another woman. Prosecutors charged Combs with racketeering conspiracy because they say his employees facilitated his abuse by setting up hotel rooms for "Freak Offs" and procuring illegal drugs for the sex parties. The defense argued that Combs kept his personal and professional lives separate, and that the drugs were for his personal use.

‘Easygoing' Keith Urban ‘did not hang up' on Aussie radio hosts over racy Nicole Kidman question
Fans kept their eyes wide shut after Keith Urban's uncomfortable radio appearance Tuesday morning. However, it turns out that the country singer, 57, wasn't the one who hung up on Mix 102.3's 'Hayley & Max in the Morning' after they asked an intimate question about his wife, Nicole Kidman. A source told People that 'Keith did not hang up, period.' 10 Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban during the 82nd Annual Golden Globes. Penske Media via Getty Images 'He doesn't host his Zoom interviews. This is a complete nothingburger,' they added. The insider noted that Urban is 'very easygoing' and did not have an issue with the question at hand. 10 Hayley Pearson and Max Burford. Mix102.3 The interview seemed to be going well at first, with Urban in high spirits over playing at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on August 28, sharing it's 'just a good vibe in the audience.' Things then took a turn after hosts Hayley Pearson and Max Burford asked the Grammy winner to play the radio show's 'Wall of Truth' game. 'What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?' Burford inquired. 10 Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman attend the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards. Getty Images 10 Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. 'I think his team hung up on us because they didn't want us to ask that question,' the producer continued. 'He's gone, see you Keith.' Burford said before asking his co-host, 'If you knew this was going to happen, Hayley, why didn't you stop me asking the question?' Kidman, 58, and Efron, 37, starred as love interests in Netflix's 2024 rom-com 'A Family Affair.' The actress played a widowed writer who starts dating a selfish actor (Efron). Nicole also starred as a CEO who has a love affair with her young intern, played by Harris Dickinson, 29, in the 2024 film 'Babygirl.' She inquired if Urban thought his and Kidman's love story would have still happened if they had never met at G'day Australia, to which he quickly corrected her that it was 'G'day LA.' 'No, I think it would,' Urban answered, with Keller pushing, 'Yeah? Are you a believer in fate or do you think it's two Australians, it would have happened?' 'No idea,' Urban responded before stating, 'Anyway, moving on.' 10 Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. 'I like being asked out, which he still does,' she told People. 'Seven nights ago, we went to dinner in New York. We love Japanese food, but I'm open [to everything]. I like not knowing where he's going to take me. Surprise me, baby!'
