Eagles star A.J. Brown visits 10-year-old who shielded his little sister in Philadelphia plane crash
Andre "Trey" Howard III required emergency brain surgery after a piece of metal debris embedded in his head as he shielded his younger sister during the Jan. 31 crash. His father, Andre Howard, told NBC News the family was driving to get their weekly Friday afternoon treat when the Jet Rescue Air Ambulance crashed in northeast Philadelphia.
Trey's family told NBC Philadelphia that when he woke up after surgery he had two questions: Did he save his sister? Did he miss the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl game?
Brown saw the headlines about Trey's dedication to his hometown team and promised to visit him once the game was over.
"You are a Hero young man!" Brown wrote in a post on X."I'm going to come see you when I get back. Hopefully with some hardware. Playing for you on Sunday my man."
Brown "kept his word," Howard said. He admitted to being a little surprised when he received a call from the hospital that the family was going to have a visitor in the morning.
"Just with my son walking, being able to have a conversation with A.J. Brown," Howard said. "These are things that I look at as a dad ... these are iconic moments."
Brown brought Trey some gifts from the Eagles, as well as the Vince Lombardi Trophy the team won by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in the championship game on Sunday. Trey's mother posted photos of Trey and Brown with the trophy to her Facebook page.
Howard described Brown as humble, sitting and talking to Trey for about 30 minutes during his visit. Trey asked him questions about what it was like to win the Super Bowl and about Brown's teammate, Saquon Barkley.
So Brown called Barkley to chat with Trey too, Howard said.
"They just said 'we were proud of you,' 'we're praying for you,'" Howard said. "And pretty much, my son gave them the extra edge to go win that Super Bowl, extra motivation on top of the motivation they had being in the Super Bowl. And that lifted my son's spirits."
Just after Brown's visit, Howard said Trey had to go to physical therapy.
"You would have thought he was back to normal," Howard said. "They gave him an extra boost of energy ... 'Wow, you're already going fast now, and we're pretty much jogging on the treadmill now?'"
Howard described Trey as a 'centimeter' from death after the accident, being told he could become paraplegic from his injuries. But the father now calls his son's rapid improvement in less than two weeks a 'miracle.'
Trey still has a long road to recovery, though his father says his ability to walk and talk enough for Brown's visit was a big improvement. The 10-year-old won't be able to go to the parade, but Howard hopes to get some pictures for him.
Brown's visit showed Howard the type of person the athlete is off the field, Howard said, adding that Brown is now a "brother to me for life."
"I don't look at him as just a professional football player, I look at him — he's a dad," Howard said. "He told me it hit home because he has a son. It hit home to see a child protecting his sister and he just wanted to show some love to him."

‘We've holidayed with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce – she showed her true colours with us'
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were joined by two well-known sports broadcasters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson on a recent holiday, and the pair have revealed what it's like to vacation with them NFL reporters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson have lifted the lid on their holiday escapades with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The pop icon and Kansas City Chiefs tight-end, both 35, have dominated headlines ever since they went public with their romance in September 2023. Despite Swift's presence at the Chiefs' Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February – where she faced boos from the crowd – and Kelce's surprise appearance on stage during Swift's blockbuster Era's Tour in London, the pair have kept quiet about their high-profile relationship lately. However, Andrews and Thompson couldn't resist telling all on their podcast 'Calm Down with Erin and Charissa', after Kelce shared snaps on Instagram featuring the two broadcasters with himself and Swift. "I will say this: she's everything that I'd ever hoped and dreamed that she could've been and more," Thompson said about Swift. "For those of you who have listened to this podcast for the five years that we have had it, you'll know our great affinity for Taylor, pre-Travis. We advocated for her to give him a chance – that clearly worked out! They are so happy and adorable." In a snapshot shared by the three-time Super Bowl champion, Andrews and Thompson were seen enjoying a snowy getaway with their other halves, alongside Kelce and the 'Anti-Hero' hit-maker. Thompson couldn't help but sing praises for the 'Love Story' songstress, reports OK! "That's one of my favourite photos from the trip that we all took together. And I'll echo it! She's [Swift] a 20 out of 20. She is so much fun," Thompson said. Delving into the details of how their group holiday came to be, she said: "When the opportunity came about for all of us to spend time together and go on vacation, we were elated to have time with them. But also, in general, to see what she was all about." One picture posted by Kelce showed him and Swift laughing in the snow, while another showed the couple on an ice rink. Thompson then revealed they were keeping their cards close to the chest on what went down on the trip in a bid to keep a veil of privacy in-place for Swift and Kelce. "Their lives are so public so it was very important for Erin and I not to say anything," she added. "It's important for us to let them dictate the narrative on things they do in their personal life. "I'm not going to elaborate too much on it other than saying that she is a dream and I adore her and I'm so happy that they make each other happy." Andrews echoed the sentiment, emphasising their commitment to safeguarding their friends' privacy: "We're so protective of them and their privacy and what they deserve, so that's why we never said anything or planned on saying anything. "We love them, we are happy for them and we are happy to report back that, yes, the long awaited meeting did happen and it exceeded expectations because she is as advertised and a whole lot more." Swift is currently recharging after an astonishing tour that saw the 35-year-old traverse the globe with her three-hour, hit-powered show that ran from March 2023 to December 2024. Kelce, meanwhile, took some time to regroup after his Chiefs team were humiliated in Super Bowl LIX by a Jalen Hurts-inspired Eagles. He initially claimed he would think about his future but later revealed he is to stay on for one more NFL season as tight-end for the Chiefs, with the star previously saying he would play "until the wheels fall off", with the new season getting underway in September.

Micah Parsons trade: Why Cowboys, Jerry Jones should consider request
Thank you Dallas ???????? ????????! I — Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) August 1, 2025 Maybe Friday's bombshell ignites negotiations with Parsons' agent, whom has been cut out of them to date, according to the Dallas superstar. Yet maybe it necessitates a key turning point for the player and his (current) team. Prescott and Lamb patiently waited while Jones dragged his feet before (inevitably) minting them in 2024 - yet again in the case of Prescott, who's played on a franchise tag and a pair of extensions during his nine seasons. But in a lengthy statement posted to X, Parsons wrote, among other things, "I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys" as part of a rare public break with Jones, who seemed to openly question the wisdom of a long-term megadeal at the start of camp. And Parsons' ire wasn't limited to his bank account, as he also expressed, "I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization." Divorce is rarely imminent in the NFL, but these feel like irreconcilable differences, albeit in what's also clearly a heated set of circumstances. "This is an inflection point for the Dallas Cowboys, their business practices and how they've been doing things if this young man decides, 'I'm gonna be that one player that don't just go with the (flow) and accept the contract and go back and play with the Cowboys. I'm going to request a trade and stand on it,'" former Dallas defensive lineman Marcus Spears, now an ESPN analyst living in North Texas, said Friday afternoon. But what if Parsons stands on it? Then this might also be a golden opportunity for Jones and a team that will be 30 years removed from its fifth and most recent title if it doesn't win Super Bowl 60 next February. The benefits of extending Parsons, especially given his age and production (52 1/2 sacks in 63 career games) are obvious, especially since it has seemed recently that he was about to become the unquestioned leader of the defense following the offseason departure of DeMarcus Lawrence - who, incidentally, went scorched earth on the Cowboys on his way to Seattle, saying he'd never win a Super Bowl in Dallas. But should Jones now actually lean into Parsons' trade request? Could he create something of another Herschel Walker moment by doing so? Make no mistake, Parsons plays a premium position - perhaps the most important one in football aside from quarterback. But if Jones ties up a huge percentage of his salary cap in Prescott, Lamb and Parsons - they'd undoubtedly be playing concurrently on deals that collectively average more than $135 million annually - then that kneecaps the team's flexibility to address other areas of the roster in meaningful ways, and this team seems to have its share of holes. Maybe paying all three could work for a brief period - think the Los Angeles Rams with the expensive trio of Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp, who led the team to victory in Super Bowl 56. But it's just not sustainable, nor have the Cowboys shown any evidence that they're just a move or two away from a Lombardi Trophy as those Rams were. As for potentially moving Parsons? If non-quarterbacks like Jalen Ramsey, Laremy Tunsil and even Jamal Adams can fetch two first-round picks in a deal - and all of them once did - that should be the minimum return Jones would expect. And with the regular season still five weeks away, there's ample time to incite an even more lucrative bidding war among 31 other teams who would love to have a young, explosive, versatile, smart QB hunter like Parsons, who's also healthy and fresh after doing little this offseason aside from good-faith efforts while being a regular presence for the offseason program and training camp as he awaited his payday. Would Jones reap the numerous assets former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson did for Walker in 1989, helping lay the groundwork for the 1990s Dallas dynasty? Is he winding up with dynastic cornerstones like Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland and Darren Woodson? Fanciful. No team is surrendering eight premium draft picks, including three first-rounders, for anyone not named Brady or Mahomes. But could Jones get a pair of Round 1 picks and maybe a pair of Day 2 selections? Maybe? After all, Parsons is at the peak of his powers, and Walker no longer was - meaning a haul is there to be had in the context of 2025 trade architectures. And would it be beneficial getting an influx of cost-controlled talent around Prescott, Lamb and a young offensive line in the early stages of rookie head coach Brian Schottenheimer's tenure - particularly considering vice president of player personnel Will McClay's acumen as a talent evaluator? Maybe? There's no sugarcoating what a mess Jones has made around arguably his best player, and perhaps some Myles Garrett-level rapprochement is in the offing if Jones, Parsons, and his agent can achieve a Kumbaya moment. Yet maybe current events signal to Jones' family that he needs to start delegating more responsibility after he smartly empowered Johnson all those years ago until he could no longer bear to. What seems pretty clear, though, is that business as usual isn't working in Dallas and hasn't really for three decades despite all the talented players and coaches who have been affiliated with "America's Team." Maybe it's time for a unique approach, like the one Johnson utilized so long ago, to give this team - and maybe Parsons - the fresh start all parties seem to need right now. Celtic hero Scott Brown's ruthless flag day Kris Boyd troll
The pair were in the studio at Parkhead covering the Scottish Premiership champions' first competitive fixture of the new season. Celtic eventually won the game 1-0 thanks to Luke McCowan's late strike. Before the match, the league flag was unfurled by club legend Paul McStay. Read more: Brown was asked in the build-up about his experiences of flag day. He couldn't resist a dig at Boyd in his answer: "It's amazing because you know all that hard work from the season before has to start all over again," said the current Ayr United boss. "It's one of those days, it's great for the fans, it's great for everyone to come together." "Boydy's not used to this, obviously in a long, long time," Brown then joked. "He's delighted to be here. We've had a real good chat about how good this place is and how much it means to you, haven't we?" 🗣️ 'What does flag day mean for a player?' 😬 '[Kris] Boyd isn't used to it. It's been a long, long time' Scott Brown on what today will mean for Falkirk & Celtic, as both sides will unfurl their title-winning flags ⬇️ — Sky Sports Scotland (@ScotlandSky) August 3, 2025 Boyd then replied: "It's nice to see you've changed, you can talk some rubbish, wow." With their, albeit narrow, victory on Sunday, Celtic moved two points clear of city rivals Rangers on the opening weekend of the new season. Next up, Brendan Rodgers takes his team to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.
