RM260m energy projects boost power supply for 60,000 in Sabah, Labuan
The projects, managed by the Sabah Electricity Supply Special Project Team (PPKBES), focus on upgrading substations, expanding grid networks, and enhancing safety systems in key areas such as Sipitang, Beaufort, Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Sandakan, and Labuan. Fadillah highlighted the completion of critical infrastructure, including a new gas-insulated switchgear at the Kota Kinabalu Main Intake Substation (PMU KKBU), which will support reliable electricity supply to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
A major milestone is the seven-kilometre transmission line from Menggalong PMU to the Sipitang–Lawas border, finished in September last year. This line will enable Sabah to import 30 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Sarawak once Sarawak Energy completes its segment by September. The infrastructure is part of the ASEAN Power Grid, facilitating cross-border energy sharing among Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and the Philippines, with a capacity of up to 500 MW.

KUALA LUMPUR: Efficient energy use in government buildings can significantly lower utility costs and support Malaysia's sustainable energy transition, according to the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA). Teo warns public of RM100 SARA scam links asking for personal details
MUAR — The public is urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent links circulated by scammers related to the one-off RM100 cash assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative, which are designed to collect personal information, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching (picture). She said the scammers often employ deceptive tactics by sharing links accompanied by posters that appear convincing, incorporating official-looking elements such as the Malaysia MADANI and Bersama Malaysiaku logos to mislead recipients. 'One such example is the link which falsely claims to provide official information about the RM100 SARA aid and prompts users to submit their personal information. The Ministry of Finance confirmed yesterday that this link is fake,' she said. 'My advice is, if the information truly comes from the government, the link will typically end with '. – where 'gov' stands for government,' she told reporters after attending the MADANI Community Service programme held in conjunction with the launch of National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign here. She added that numerous complaints had been received regarding the matter, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had taken steps to block the fraudulent link. Teo said that such scams often evolve by creating new websites with similar names, such as ' or ' and urged the public to remain vigilant. She also stressed that no money will be deposited into e-wallets or Touch 'n Go accounts. Instead, eligible MyKad holders only need to present their identification cards at participating outlets, including Lotus's, Mydin, 99 Speedmart and selected grocery stores – to access the benefits. 'The primary role of the MyKad in this programme is solely to verify the identity of recipients. It has no connection to any e-wallet platform, so there's no need to worry if your MyKad isn't linked to certain applications,' Teo said. She also urged the public to rely only on official websites or verified social media accounts of government agencies, such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Communications for the latest and most accurate information. PPR Rembau Completed After Five Years, Now Ready For Occupancy
REMBAU, July 25 (Bernama) – The People's Housing Programme (PPR) in Rembau, built at a cost of RM91.2 million, has been fully completed and is now ready for occupancy after five years of construction. Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said the PPR Rembau, which began construction on March 4, 2020, was completed and handed over to the National Housing Department on Feb 27 this year. She said 166 eligible applicants have passed the screening process and received offer letters to occupy units in the first phase of the PPR Rembau project. 'This is a symbol of successful strategic collaboration between the Federal and State Governments in providing comfortable and quality housing. It reflects the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, where care for the people's needs is our top priority,' she said at the Offer Letter Handover Ceremony and Open Day for PPR Rembau at Mukim Chembong here today. Also present was Negeri Sembilan Senior State Executive Councillor Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias. Aiman Athirah added that all recipients were offered the Rent-to-Own (RTO) scheme, which provides rental for a minimum period of five years and up to a maximum of 20 years. Meanwhile, Jalaluddin said a total of 1,422 PPR units have been completed or are under construction in Negeri Sembilan, including the PPR Jempol project in Kampung Dato' Johan, which is currently in the pre-construction phase and will provide 100 homes for local residents. One of the recipients, Normasita Md Diah, 38, a mother of three, expressed gratitude and joy upon learning she was selected for the first phase, saying owning her own home had been a long-held dream. Another recipient, H. Uphaindro, 36, a general worker at a local school, also thanked the government for providing PPR facilities that help B40 households own their own homes.
