SHAMEFUL scammers have set up a string of fake social media accounts pretending to be Harry Potter star Dominic McLaughlin, we can reveal.
Bogus pages - claiming to be run by his parents - have popped up weeks after it emerged the Scots kid actor will appear in HBO's TV adaptation of the famous book series.

Scammers have set up a number of accounts in the child actor's name

It comes after Dominic McLaughlin was announced as star of the HBO series

The series is set to be released late next year

Arabella Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin, and Alastair Stout will be in the main roles
Dominic, from Glasgow, beat thousands of others for the boy wizard lead role.
But weeks after he was announced as playing Harry Potter, online weirdos have now taken advantage of his rising public profile by impersonating him on the internet.
PR consultant Mark Borkowski warned the young actor's team should jump into action and protect him.
He said: 'The issue is that, particularly when you get thrust into the public arena these days, you become public property very quickly.
'And getting this break is going to be enormous. But, as we've seen in the past with other young stars, it's also a bit of a curse.
'The younger you are, obviously there's rules and regulations, but the badlands of the internet don't sort of grip the same principles.
'There's a huge Harry Potter fan base, as we know, and there's been a lot of expectation for this latest version of it.
'It will all come down to protecting him because of his age and allowing him to grow up against a backdrop of a huge amount of attention on him, both on and offline. And that is incredibly difficult to manage.'
One Instagram account in Dominic's name has dozens of photos of the actor, and hundreds of followers.
A bio says: 'Young actor. Playing Harry Potter in HBO's new series. Account managed by parents.'
Toy Show star lands major role in Harry Potter
A string of posts claim to be documenting his journey with the account boasting of 'bringing my best to Harry Potter', 'another change to make a bit of magic happen' and thanking fans for their support.
Another 'parent managed account' in Dominic's name has links to channel HBO and streaming platform Stream On MAX.
Alex Dowal, of the Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland, warned most social media operators are struggling to take down fake profiles.
He said: 'It's not actually a crime to set up a profile in someone's name.
'It goes against the terms and conditions of Facebook and Instagram. Unfortunately, the scale of policing that is virtually non-existent.
'It becomes a crime if you are seeking to benefit from pretending to be someone else.
'It probably wouldn't take long before some fake endorsements using his profile come out. That would consitute fraud.'
We told how the cast were revealed by Warner Bros last month with film bosses pledging a 'faithful adaptation' of the books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling.
Earlier this week, the writer said she had read the first two episodes, adding: 'They are so, so, so good.'
A spokeswoman for Warner Bros Discovery said: 'We won't be commenting at this time.'

Geri Halliwell only Spice Girl to snub Mel B's wedding to Rory McPhee
Geri Halliwell remains the only Spice Girls star not to have addressed Mel B's wedding publicly. All other members of the hit 90s girl band – Victoria Beckham, Mel C, and Emma Bunton – have expressed support and congratulations for their bandmate, whether it be on social media or by attending the ceremony itself. But as far as Geri is concerned, it's still radio silence. Yesterday, Scary Spice, 50, tied the knot with celebrity hairdresser Rory McPhee, to whom she got engaged in 2022. It was every inch a lavish affair, perhaps somewhat resembling a royal wedding, as a crowd formed outside St Paul's Cathedral to catch the pop star in her bespoke luxury gown. The guest list was truly star-studded, with Katherine Ryan, Alan Carr, Gaby Roslin, Cara Delevingne, and Daisy Lowe all on the guest list. Joining them was Emma, aka Baby Spice, who beamed with pride as she arrived wearing a sweet blush pink dress, accompanied by her partner, Jade Jones, and son, Beau. And while two other Spice Girls were unable to attend, Posh and Sporty made sure to wish Mel well before her big day. Taking to Instagram, fashion designer Victoria, who decided not to join the group for their last reunion tour in 2019, wrote: 'Congratulations @officalmelb @rorymcphee on your special day! I couldn't be more excited for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness! kisses xx' The day before Mel's wedding, Victoria, who couldn't make it due to being on holiday, also wrote: 'Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx' A source denied that there was an 'issue' or a 'falling out' causing Victoria to skip the wedding. It was just 'one of those things'. They added to the Daily Mail: 'Victoria has long-standing plans out of the country, and she simply can't be there. 'She adores Mel; they get on really well despite their paths going in opposite directions. It's a real shame.' Meanwhile, Mel C—full name Melanie Chisholm—said she was 'gutted' to miss out on the nuptials. Sharing a snap from the day, she wrote on Insta to the newlyweds: 'So so happy for you both and beyond gutted I couldn't be there. Excited to celebrate with you really soon! Yippee!' After Mel and Rory posted professional photos from their wedding in London, there were plenty of other celebs flooding the comments to say congratulations, including Paloma Faith, Sofia Vergara, Alexandra Burke, Ayda Field, Heidi Klum, and Terry Crews. While details on why Geri, 52, opted to skip the wedding are unknown, it's said that her colourful past with Mel had something to do with it. The former bandmates were once reportedly unable to be in the same room due to animosity between them and their tendency to fight. Then, when appearing on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, Mel added fuel to the fire with her bombshell confession that she and Geri had an intimate relationship during the band's early days. It's believed Geri was upset by the revelation, for which Mel never apologised. Her husband, Christian Horner, was also reportedly livid. When fellow Spice Girl Victoria had her big 50th birthday bash last year, Mel appeared to want to quash rumours of any bad blood. Initially, it was reported that her reunion with Geri was frosty, as they had a tense exchange before keeping their distance on the night. Still, Mel shared group snaps on Insta afterwards, writing: 'What an amazing girl power weekend with all my girls, i have soooo much love and respect for you ALL #friendshipneverends [sic]'. More Trending After saying 'I do' this weekend, Rory became Mel's third husband. She was previously married to Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998. Then, in 2007, she wed Stephen Belafonte when they eloped to Las Vegas. The couple parted ways in 2016 when Mel accused him of abuse, which he denied. Speaking about her now-husband, Rory, Mel previously told Us Weekly: 'He's a very confident man, and that, to me, is a man. He makes me feel so safe.' She later added to Hello! Magazine: 'For the first time in my life, I'm engaged to a beautiful, honest person who makes me feel protected, nurtured and so loved, and I want to savour that.' Got a story? 'Gender reveal' rampage after 200 gatecrashers swarm village
A 'gender reveal' celebration turned into a huge house party with 200 drunken revellers, which had to be broken up by cops. Airbnb owner Matt Genesis, 33, said he was duped after agreeing to rent his 10-bed £635,000 home out to a group of eight people who booked it via Instagram for a gender reveal. But the rental turned into a 'Project X' style disaster with hundreds of party-goers flooding the venue, causing chaos and £2,000 worth of damage. Matt said he was first alerted by noise complaints from neighbours on Wednesday, June 25. He tried to log in to the property's external security cameras only to discover they had been disconnected at the £450 a night rental. To his horror, he discovered that minibus loads of revellers had turned up at the quiet cul-de-sac in the village of Norden, Greater Manchester, and others were parking over his neighbours' driveways. Police in riot vans had to be called to the scene to disperse some of the party-goers who had travelled as far as London to attend the party. Matt is a director of Fairway Building & Remedial Contractors, the company which owns the property. After arriving at the home at 9.30 pm, he was shocked to find 150 people filling the streets and trying to get into the 10-person home. Matt said: 'Whilst we were there, minibus after minibus was turning up – I'd say one every 15 minutes, a minibus full of six to eight people walking in. It was out of control – the police turned up. We called them, obviously, neighbours had called them. It was out of our control. 'Even the guy who booked it, it was out of his control on his behalf – he said he didn't expect anywhere near the amount of people, but it's been passed around group and groups.' Matt said the operation had been 'calculated' – with guests disabling the home's security systems and turning off the Wi-Fi. 'That disabled the cameras, so we weren't able to deal with it any sooner than they could. It was very much 'Project X',' he added. The embarrassed Airbnb owners were forced to say sorry to neighbours and cancel their next booking as they worked to replace broken furniture and deep clean the damaged house, suffering a total of £2,000 in losses. The property, which previously underwent a £200,000 renovation and includes a hot tub and pool tables, took three staff 12 hours to clean following the party. The only money the owners received in return is the £450 per night charge, plus a £250 damage deposit – leaving them well out of pocket. The property is regularly rented out via Airbnb but on this occasion was booked via Instagram. Matt said: 'It was so structured, before we emptied the house out the people who were there said 'Where do we go?' Guests had travelled from as far as London for it, so it was very, very calculated. 'It hit us – we seem like the bad guys, but at the same time it did ultimately hit us as well in the pocket.' Those living nearby were miffed by the chaos. James Gartside, 80, and Jane Gartside, 84, have lived next door to the home for over 50 years and remembered when it was previously owned by an older couple who had passed away. On Wednesday, the couple first realised something was brewing after they were asked to allow a party-goer to park in their driveway. Jane said: 'I think I knew it was going to be quite busy, you just got that feeling quite quickly. It was just that night was out of control, when the police came. They calmed it all down – there was no fighting or anything like that. More Trending 'We had a meeting, we went around, they invited us all around and everybody felt very upset. They were very apologetic.' Mike Law lives on the other side of the property and said: 'They did very well to disperse them, in my opinion. In a way, it was a problem at the time, but it hasn't lasted. There were certainly more than 200 people, I would say, it was a nuisance – but we can be a nuisance to our next-door neighbours.' Airbnb said it had looked into the situation and found the booking had been made through a third party, with no reservations made for the property on its platform.
