A side-by-side photo was then shown on screen, highlighting the similarities between the pair.
'Somebody needs to do the math, because my mum worked at MTV in the '90s so what's going on there?' Chaad joked, referencing Richard's stint at the music television station.
'Who's your daddy?' Karl excitedly asked, which elicited quite the laugh from the rising star.
Chaad was full of gratitude for his big television break.
'WHAT AN HONOUR to share my first full day of learning as an anchor with the team @thetodayshow,' he wrote on Instagram.
'I couldn't have asked for a more special experience with the amazing team and mentors. While sharing the stage in place of Dicky, this little moment caught us all off.'
Despite Chaad's anchor gig only being temporary, it seems he has struck a chord with breakfast TV viewers.
Karl commented on a clip of Chaad on air with: 'Loved having you, son,' to which one viewer replied: 'He needs to be a regular.'
'Today we found an aspiring entertainment journo and if you squint he looks like a young Richard Wilkins,' Karl said on air
Another chimed in with: 'Never has there been a man more suited to the screen.'
'From now on, I love watching the news,' a third swooned.
It looks as though Dickie might have to start looking over his shoulder, with Chaad already a triple threat.
Aside from being an aspiring entertainment reporter, Chaad is also a model, after being discovered by Gold Coast agency Reel Management in 2020, and has since worked with the likes of BOSS and Polo Ralph Lauren.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Chaad is also a budding actor, having hit the stage for the Queensland Drama Academy in Flood.
He also nabbed a gig as actor Stacy Clausen's stand-in for the 2023 film True Spirit.
Chaad recently revealed that his Today show stint all came about thanks to a university assignment.
The second-year journalism student at Bond University posted an after-class exercise to social media that attracted half a million views.
After seeing the video, Karl reached out with an offer for the rising star to appear on the show.
'Karl said, 'I want to bring you on the Today show'. To be honest with you, I thought he was joking… I didn't think he was being serious.'
Turns out Karl was deadly serious with Chaad adding: 'Karl actually said, 'you can be the anchor!' In a matter of about two hours, they had everything sorted.'
He also revealed that his Today cameo did the trick with the network, with Nine keen to stay in touch.

Since her exit, Hannah has appeared in episodes of Doctors, The Bill, New Tricks and Holby City. She swapped the UK for Australia over adecade ago and made waves starring in Aussie dramas. Now based in Sydney, Hannah's credits include the Aussie-Indonesian hit Bali 2002. But, her new gig on Home and Away marks a proper return to the soap scene. This year, the iconic Aussie soap celebrated a whopping 35 years on air, with special reruns on a dedicated channel to mark the milestone. Forgotten soap star shows off huge £27million LA mansion after quitting fame and marrying a multimillionaire Home and Away first hit screens on January 17, 1988. 'She loved dipping her toes back into the world of soap briefly and who knows it could mean she finds her way back more permanently.' Forgotten soap storylines The nation's soaps have had many gripping storylines play out over the years. However, some plots proved to be far less memorable. Here are some forgotten stories from Weatherfield, Walford and more... Coronation Street Ken and Audrey's romance (2015): After the death of wife Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride), Coronation Street original Ken Barlow (William Roache) started to move on in his life. He started to develop a spark with old friend Audrey (Sue Nicholls), with then-Corrie boss saying it would be like "Ross and Rachel". In the end, nothing ever came of it and the two remained platonic pals. Beth's bigamy (2016): Despite being happily married to Kirk (Andrew Whyment), a troubling secret came to light about Beth Tinker (Lisa George). It transpired that she had never divorced from her first husband, Darryl (Paul Loughran), father of her son Craig (Colson Smith). Although Craig and Kirk were shocked - and Beth was arrested - the storyline didn't didn't go much further. EastEnders Kat Slater's secret son (2017): Capitalising on the popularity of Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie (Shane Richie), the two received a spin-off back in 2017. Titled 'Redwater', it saw the two travel to Ireland where they met long-lost son Luke, now called Dermott Dolan, played by Oisín Stack. Despite the high-tension events during Redwater, Kat seems to have put the experience behind her as Dermott's not been mentioned since. Alfie's brain tumour (2015): Having learned in 2015 that he had a brain tumour, Alfie kept the news from Kat until their trip to Ireland. At the time, actor Shane Ritchie revealed fans would see a change in Alfie as he battled the illness. It would appear that at some point after leaving the Square, was told the tumour was non-malignant. By the time Alfie returned in 2022, fans were left confused over what had happened to the storyline. Kathy and Buster's affair (2016): In 2016, Walford legend Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) fell into the arms of convict Buster Briggs, played by Karl Howman. Buster was the long-time lover of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and fathered both her sons - Mick (Danny Dyer) and Dean (Matt Di Angelo). When Buster left, he begged Kathy to join him, but she refused for the sake of her family. Meanwhile Buster didn't even stop to say goodbye to Shirley before exiting with a broken heart. Fans expected a showdown between the two women, but this never came to pass. Emmerdale Jacob's OCD (2016): After his dad, David (Matthew Wolfenden), was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2016, Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This manifested in the form of cleaning. Jacob's OCD made a brief return one year on, after David had another scare after finding a lump. Jacob frantically searched the bins for a 'lucky coin' that had accidentally been thrown away. Despite stressful situations - such as being groomed by his teacher Maya, losing his fiancee Leanna to a serial killer, dealing with mum Leyla's drug addiction, and surviving a stabbing - the condition doesn't appear to have returned. Marlon and Charity's fling (2003): Few fans would likely remember few will remember the one-night stand between Charity (Emma Atkins) and Marlon (Mark Charnock) in 2003. The pair slept together when Charity was staying with Marlon while still under suspicion for husband Chris's supposed "murder". Hollyoaks Alex Browning's revenge plot (2014): Fans expected a confrontation when Dr Browning's son Alex (Ojan Genc) mer stepmum Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe). After all, Mercedes, with Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) and Lindsey Butterfield (Sophie Austin) had murdered Alex's dad, double-murderer Dr Paul Browning, after he kidnapped and attacked his new wife. In fact, the soap teased Alex would seek revenge for his father's death upon arriving. However, he instead gave Cindy's son Hilton (his half-brother) a life-saving transplant, became his godfather, and leaving the village soon after. The new role comes three years after Hannah tied the knot to former The Bill star husband Huw Higginson. Huw is most notable for his ten-year role in The Bill as PC George Garfield. Huw posted a celebratory shot showing their special day in October 2022 as they posed with their son Jack, 11, on a boat in Sydney. The Bill actor gushed in his caption: "Got married to my love yesterday. We had the best of days." Hannah can be seen gazing lovingly at her spouse as they celebrated their special day. She wore a patterned, long-sleeve blue frock - perhaps as her something blue - complete with gold strappy sandals and a navy pashmina. She clutched a bouquet of cream flowers and accessorised with a pair of sunglasses. The happy couple made the move to Australia in 2014. It came after Hannah married fellow EastEnders star Ricky Groves in 2006. But, the pair separated in 2010 and divorced in 2014. 4 4

Inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt reveals new career move after being forced to change her life as she was 'pushing her own needs aside'
Burns survivor Turia Pitt has launched her new book. The Aussie athlete, who was tragically caught in a grassfire while competing in a 100km ultra-marathon in 2011, has released her latest project titled Selfish, which examines 'how to unlearn the rules that are breaking you'. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 37-year-old revealed that she thought the word 'selfish' was in need of a rebrand, encouraging people to empower themselves and take the right measures to avoid burnout. 'We're told that being selfish is bad. That we should always think of others, put everyone else first, push our own needs aside,' she wrote in the post's caption. 'I bought into that story. And it led me straight to burnout. This is the book I wish I had during that time.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She went on to say that she wrote the book for people who have ever felt 'stretched too thin, lost, or like you're living by someone else's rules.' Selfish, which is Turia's fifth book, is set to hit shelves in October but can be pre-ordered now. In 2023, it was revealed that the much-anticipated movie about Pitt starring Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok had stalled. In 2019, Tammin announced she was set to play the courageous athlete who sustained horrific burn injuries to 64 percent of her body in a wildfire 14 years ago. But Turia told The Daily Telegraph that further talks with the US-based actress had been put off. 'That was on the cards but not at the moment,' the mother of two said of the proposed biopic. She added: 'It is not something that is at the top of my priority list. Every day, I am not like, ''let's try and get this movie made''. I am not doing that at all.' 'Whether or not a film gets made, I don't really think it is in my control. 'I think I would be (involved),' she said. 'That would be really weird if someone made a movie and I just saw it on the TV. That would be quite strange.' In 2011, Turia survived against the odds after getting caught in a wildfire while competing in an ultramarathon in Western Australia. The Celebrity Apprentice star was left with horrific burns and later became a motivational speaker. In 2023, she opened up about the aftermath of the tragedy 11 years on, and said she 'wanted to die' during the early stages of her hospitalisation. Fortunately, Turia found the will to live and she went on to become a successful motivational speaker who has shared her story with thousands of people. Meanwhile, Sursok is best known to viewers for her role as the character of Dani Sutherland in Home in Away. The South African-born Australian star appeared in the iconic soap from 2000 to 2004. Footy star reveals his young son confronted rival who body-slammed him at halftime in one of the craziest acts the NRL has seen
Footy superstar Cody Walker has revealed his young son once confronted Lachlan Lewis over one of the NRL 's most bizarre and controversial moments. Back in 2021, Lewis escaped with just a fine after he opted to strangely body slam Canterbury playmaker Walker at half-time during his side's 32-24 defeat by the Bunnies in Round 18. The half-time buzzer had already gone and players were beginning to leave the pitch, when Lewis approached his opponent from behind, grabbed him and spun him into the ground. A brawl ensued, with Walker's team-mates flying in to back up their halfback. Several Canterbury players stood around looking perplexed at Lewis' antics, while Doggies coach Trent Barrett shook his head in disbelief as he watched on from the coaching box. But in another very funny and bizarre twist to the tale, Walker, 35, revealed on The Unfiltered Show that his young son had confronted Lewis in the team hotel after the match. 'The funny thing, after that, was we were all staying at the same hotel. Bulldogs, Souths, Parra, Warriors and Canberra,' Walker told the podcast. 'And my son, right... he's got no filter. He talks to anyone and he is a maniac. He actually questioned him [Lewis]. 'He goes: "Why'd you tackle my dad for?"' Walker, who was in hysterics, couldn't remember the full exchange but revealed that Lewis had approached him about it afterwards. 'He goes: "Your son actually came up and questioned me..."' Walker said, giggling with laughter. Walker and his partner Nellie have two sons together, Kian and Kade. 'It just sort of simmered the whole thing down, we just had a bit of a laugh about it,' he added. 'It was quite a funny experience when you think about it,' he added on the body slam. 'It sort of gave us an edge a bit because he got sin-binned after that and then we ran 'em over then.' 'It was strange.' At the time, Walker was reluctant to reveal what had been said between the pair, but when pressed again on their exchange on the podcast, he revealed their conversation was actually quite mundane. 'I'm not sure if you remember correctly but I made a bit of a break down the sideline to finish the half,' Walker said, recounting the moment. 'I sort of stepped back in and Will Hopoate tackled me and I think Lachlan Lewis was on top. 'Something happened, I can't remember. 'He grabbed me or touched me or something and I was just said: "Don't f***ing touch me!" 'It was when we were all getting off each other and I can't remember what happened. Then he just said: "What did you say?" Walker then repeated himself, before adding: 'Then he just grabs me! 'That was it. If you hear that story, it wasn't anything in particular. 'I held onto the ball,' he added laughing. 'I tried to grab him and I'm holding onto the ball, I don't know why I'm holding onto the ball.' At the age of 35, Walker is now one of the oldest players in the NRL, behind Daly Cherry-Evans and Mark Nicholls, and is showing no signs of slowing down. The Rabbitohs club legend began his professional NRL career with the Bunnies back in 2016 and has since gone on to return 100 tries over 220 games. Lewis, the nephew of NRL legend Wally Lewis, went on to play 43 times for the Bulldogs between 2018 and 2021 before being delisted by the club. His contract was torn up by the club after he had attempted to sell a sound speaker on eBay that was gifted to clubs by the NRL during COVID. No NRL clubs subsequently enquired on his availability, meaning Lewis is not made an appearance in the NRL since. Despite that, Lewis went viral back in 2022 after sharing a heartwarming clip of himself and his daughter Halli on his TikTok account.
