Third charged in fatal shooting of Sydney grandmother
Police allege three men, including Manase Fakahau, 19 and Jesse Evans, 34, approached the southwestern Sydney home of Ms Duncan, 65, about 11pm on Monday, April 14, before several shots were fired in the direction of the house.
Ms Duncan was inside the house at the time, as were her 34-year-old son and a 21-year-old woman.
She was shot in the leg and died at the scene while bing worked on by paramedics. Her son and the woman were uninjured.
Police charged Mr Fakahau and Mr Evans with murder last Wednesday and their matters remain before the courts.
At about 9.25am on Wednesday, a 34-year-old man was also arrested and charged with murder.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
As part of the ongoing investigation, strike force detectives searched a Parsons St, Ashcroft residence about 4pm on Tuesday and arrested a 40-year-old man.
During the search, police seized 11.3kg of cannabis, $91,600 in cash, 31 mobile phones, a laptop, and a knuckle duster.
The man was charged with recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime, supplying a prohibited drug in an indictable but non-commercial quantity, and possessing suspected stolen goods.
He was granted conditional bail and is set to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, August 23, 2025.

Victoria's Supreme Court has released police footage of Erin Patterson handing over a "dummy" phone to officers as they investigated the mass poisoning at her Leongatha home. Patterson, who was last month found guilty of murdering three relatives with beef Wellingtons containing death cap mushrooms and attempting to murder a fourth, can be seen handing over the device to a homicide detective in August 2023. In the days after the fatal lunch on July 29, 2023, Patterson embarked on a cover-up to distance herself from the horrific illnesses suffered by Don and Gail Patterson, Heather Wilkinson and sole survivor Ian Wilkinson. Patterson switched her phone and provided police with another device that had been factory reset on numerous occasions. She also dumped a food dehydrator used to prepare the deadly meal. Prosecutors alleged Patterson feigned illness to doctors, claiming to have eaten the same contaminated meal. In the newly released footage, Patterson can be seen sitting at her dining table opposite Detective Sergeant Luke Farrell, as officers conduct a thorough search of her house. "Thanks for your patience today, Erin," Detective Sergeant Farrell says. "We're completing our search. The only outstanding item is that mobile phone that you've got there, so I'll seize that from you. "Is there a pin code on your phone? Do you know what it is?" Patterson replies, however the phone unlocks without a pin code, and is taken by the detective. "Makes your job easy," Patterson quips. The device, which came to be nicknamed Phone B, had already been factory reset by Patterson, who managed to remotely wipe the device a final time after it was in a police safe. During Patterson's trial, prosecutors said nothing meaningful was found on the Samsung device. The main phone Patterson had been using in the lead-up to the lunch, nicknamed Phone A, was never located. However, officers were able to retrieve cell tower data, which placed Phone A in the vicinity of sites where death cap mushrooms were growing. Patterson denied hiding Phone A, and insisted it had been missed by officers who searched her home. The Supreme Court also released footage of Patterson dumping a dehydrator at the Koonwarra Transfer Station four days after the lunch. She can be seen parking her red SUV and carrying the dehydrator into a large green shed which houses electronic waste bins. Testing on the dehydrator later revealed traces of death cap mushrooms. Patterson is yet to be sentenced over the murders of Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson, and the attempted murder of Ian Wilkinson. She has always maintained her innocence and argued that she did not deliberately include death cap mushrooms in the meal served up to the lunch guests. Patterson's police interview, in which she told further lies to detectives, was tendered as evidence during the trial but has not been released by the court. During the trial, prosecutors did not allege a motive for the crime, but argued Patterson's relationship with her in-laws had been in decline.

Former WA Police officer Gary Edward Fitzgerald allegedly had sex with teenager in police station
A WA Police officer had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl he met while on duty, and even had sex with her in the interview room at Fremantle Police Station, a Perth court has been told. WARNING: This story contains details which may distress some readers. The District Court has heard the former officer encouraged her to participate in threesomes, with the complainant thinking she "couldn't say no" because he was with the police force. Gary Edward Fitzgerald, 55, is on trial, charged with five counts of sexual penetration of a child over 16, under their care, supervision or authority. The time period covered by the prosecution case is from 1999 through to 2001, when Mr Fitzgerald was a serving officer. The prosecution said Mr Fitzgerald first went to the 16-year-old girl's home with another officer after she had called police, worried about a housemate who had run away. Following some "flirty comments", he handed her his card with his mobile phone number on it, prosecutor Danya Borkowski said. She said a sexual relationship soon started, with encounters "every week or so". On one occasion, the court heard, Mr Fitzgerald said he had "too much paperwork" and asked her to go to Fremantle Police Station with a made-up story about "an incident at Coles". When they were in the interview room, the pair had sex, Ms Borkowski said. Mr Fitzgerald later asked for the teenager to have a threesome with himself and a woman at his Samson home, the court was told. The prosecutor said the pair also had a threesome with a man Mr Fitzgerald was living with in Bull Creek. Ms Borkowski told the jury a 16-year-old can't be considered as giving consent if Mr Fitzgerald was in a position of authority as a police officer. "She believed she couldn't say no," the prosecutor said. Mr Fitzgerald's lawyer said his client thought the complainant was an adult woman at the time. Defence lawyer David McCallum called on the jury to give his client "a fair go". He told the court that what would be in dispute was whether the then teenager was in his care, supervision or authority. "He was never in a position to have any lawful authority over her," Mr McCallum said. Appearing in court via videolink, the complainant described in detail the sexual acts she engaged in with Mr Fitzgerald and others. She told the court that when she first met Mr Fitzgerald, and they had gone looking for her housemate in Cottesloe, she made a flirty comment. She was sitting alongside him in the police vehicle and found there was something "digging" into her. "Is that your gun or are you happy to see me," she said she asked him. The woman told the court she believed she was seeing the officer for about a year but said it was "sex on call" and was not "really a relationship". She said she felt it was the "price to pay" for him being available for issues related to her housemate. She told the court she believed she "owed him" for being on call, but she also described herself as "naive". The trial continues.

Two men taken to hospital following stabbing in Shepparton
A manhunt is underway after two men were stabbed during an altercation in Shepparton, northern Victoria. Police today released CCTV footage and a photo of a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries. Police say a fight broke out between three men outside a home on Saint Georges Road in Shepparton about 8:40pm on Friday. An 18-year-old Shepparton man and a 23-year-old Kialla man then walked to a nearby bottle shop on High Street where the fight continued. Police allege a third man produced a knife and stabbed the pair before fleeing the scene on foot. Both men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the two victims were known to each other, but the third man is not believed to be known to them. They are soon expected to be formally interviewed by police about the incident. The man police are looking for is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance and was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket and black tracksuit pants.
