Minor boy detained for alleged links to anti-national posts
The boy, a resident of Dyavara Halli village near Bethamangala, was reportedly under surveillance for suspicious online behavior. Authorities claim that the minor had been posting and interacting with material believed to be associated with certain terrorist outfits. Acting on the findings, central and state intelligence officials picked up the boy for interrogation and questioned him for an entire day before handing him over to Bethamangala police.
According to police sources, the boy belongs to a Muslim family originally from Ramakuppam in Andhra Pradesh. The family had migrated to Bengaluru's Medahalli area several years ago for work and had recently moved to Kolar district. The boy was working at a local chicken shop near Bethamangala, having joined the job just 20 days prior to his detention.
Officials from the central and internal security agencies had reportedly been monitoring his online activity for several days before initiating action. After the preliminary probe, Bethamangala police booked the minor under charges related to sedition and anti-national activity. He is currently being held at the KGF juvenile home.
Police say a detailed investigation is underway to determine whether the boy acted independently or was influenced or instructed by external groups.
Authorities are also verifying the nature and origin of the content he accessed and shared. Security agencies have not ruled out the possibility of broader connections and are continuing to track digital footprints related to the case.

DMK Rajya Sabha Member P. Wilson on Saturday said amendments to the Waqf Act brought about in 1995 were sufficient, and the BJP's decision to form a committee and its actions were 'oppressive'. Speaking at the 'Save Waqf, Save Constitution' panel discussion organised by the All India Muslims Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), he said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin passed a resolution in the Assembly when the Waqf (Amendments) Act, 2025, was introduced in Parliament. 'Only the BJP opposed the resolution and staged a walkout from the Assembly. The BJP has betrayed the Muslim community and the AIADMK has formed an alliance with them. When the Bill was sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee, the DMK appointed two of its MPs, A. Raja and M.M. Abdullah, who travelled across India for over nine months and participated in consultative meetings and opposed the amendments. The committee's objections were given in writing, and we caused a ruckus in Parliament. We debated it for 15 hours, and it was passed early in the morning. We voted against it,' he said. He added that the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had said that the Waqf Act should be challenged in Supreme Court. 'After it was passed in the Rajya Sabha on April 4 and became an Act on April 5, we filed a case against it on April 7.' Former Madras High Court judge Justice D. Hariparanthaman said the latest Waqf Act amendments should be compared to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act and compared to the rights available to the majority community. 'Section 104 of the Waqf Act which says that anyone can donate to Waqf... has been removed. Now, not even a Muslim can donate but he/she should have been a Muslim for five years. Does HR and CE Act have such a section? A Muslim, Christian, Jain is not prevented from donating to the Mylapore temple. This is the first act that prevents donation. All powers of the Waqf Act are being taken over by the Central government,' he said. R. ‘No one has authority to moral police others'—Hyderabad Police arrests man ‘harassing' interfaith duo
On 29 July, Raheel took umbrage that C. Neeraj, a 24-year-old IT employee, was accompanied by his Muslim colleague, who was wearing a hijab. He allegedly started filming them on his mobile phone, violating their privacy, and later, he circulated the video on social media. He also started abusing and threatening the duo with dire consequences, and then physically assaulted them, the police said. Neeraj and the woman were forced to flee the spot, but Raheel allegedly followed close behind and further intimidated the duo by continuing to record them on his phone until they reached the nearby Himayatnagar area. The police have identified the accused as Mohammed Raheel, a 24-year-old driver working with Rapido. Hyderabad: A Muslim man from the Charminar area has been arrested for allegedly 'moral policing' and assaulting a Hindu man and a Muslim woman spending time on NTR Marg near the Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad, Hyderabad Police said Saturday. Neeraj lodged a police complaint on 30 July, after which the police arrested Raheel from the Old City. K. Shilpavalli, deputy commissioner of police (central zone), Hyderabad Police, said that investigations showed that Raheel deliberately shared the video to provoke communal sentiments, invade personal privacy, and promote divisive narratives. 'The individual who recorded and transmitted the video has been arrested. Relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act have been invoked; further investigation is ongoing, including identifying those managing and promoting such social media accounts,' said the DCP in a statement. Raheel allegedly disseminated the video on social media, including Instagram and X, and it rapidly gained widespread attention on the platforms. 'This exposure has heightened the risk of potential attacks on the victims, posing a threat to them and their family members from communally motivated individuals,' stated the DCP after Raheel's arrest. Raheel has been booked under sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups), 74 (assault or criminal force against a woman), 79 (insult of a woman's modesty), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 115(1) (voluntarily causing harm), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 131 (assault or criminal force), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS, and Section 67 of the IT Act (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form). The DCP, in her statement, warned the general public against indulging in such acts or disturbing social harmony in Hyderabad. 'Let it be made absolutely clear: no person or group has the authority to moral police others, harass individuals based on their personal choices, or portray such actions as justified under any communal or ideological pretext. Such acts are criminal in nature and will be dealt with strictly, irrespective of the identity or affiliation of the offender,' she added. The police also warned people from forwarding, or reacting to such videos or communal content, 'even in outrage or criticism'. Anyone found indulging in such acts will be liable for aiding the spread of illegal or inflammatory material, the police added. 'Issues concerning interfaith relationships, societal norms, or community sensitivities require thoughtful handling—not sensationalism,' added the DCP in her statement. 4,000 structures razed, 10k bighas freed at Rengma Reserve Forest
1 2 Guwahati: After five days of the first phase of eviction on Saturday, over 10,000 bighas (approx. 1,300 hectares or 13 sq km) of forest land have been reclaimed and around 4,000 concrete houses demolished at Uriamghat in Golaghat's Rengma Reserve Forest. Sarupathar BJP MLA Biswajit Phukan, who is overseeing the eviction operation, told TOI, "The first phase of the eviction drive at Rengma is over. Initially, we estimated the encroached land to be about 11,000 bigha (approx. 14.3 sq km), but it turned out to be much more. In these five days, we have reclaimed about 70% of the total encroached area." He added that the notice period for second phase of eviction in Rengma reserve forest is not over yet. The forest area in Sarupathar comprises Rengma and South Nambor Reserve Forests. Phukan said eviction will begin in two villages in South Nambor on Sunday. Phukan added that once the eviction is complete, the govt plans to develop the area, including transforming it into a tourist destination. Eviction at Rengma was kicked off at Bidyapur market early morning of July 29, where the authorities demolished around 120 commercial structures. Large number of bulldozers were pressed into service in presence of police, forest personnel, and CRPF. About 80% of the over 2500 families had already vacated voluntarily by July 28. The evicted families primarily belong to the Muslim community. Ahead of the eviction, Nagaland govt had issued an advisory to bordering districts to prevent displaced people from crossing into the state.
