A.P. Cabinet approves renewable energy project expansions, cancels delayed PSP project in Nandyal
Disclosing the details, Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that the approvals include large-scale pumped storage projects, and wind-solar hybrids. The Cabinet also took a decision to take strict action on non-performing projects.
The cabinet gave its nod to a proposal from M/s Adani Renewable Energy Fifty One Ltd. (ARE51L) to enhance the capacity of its Gandikota Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in YSR Kadapa district from 1000 MW to 1800 MW.
Two more proposals from the Adani Group were cleared: M/s Adani Hydro Energy Four Ltd. was allowed to enhance the Peddakota PSP in Alluri Sitarama Raju district from 1000 MW to 1800 MW. M/s Adani Hydro Energy One Ltd received the approval to increase the capacity of the Raiwada PSP in Vizianagaram and Anakapalli districts from 600 MW to 900 MW. These projects will significantly boost Andhra Pradesh's energy storage ecosystem, making it a national leader in pumped hydro energy. This marks a significant upgrade in the State's renewable energy storage capabilities, he said.
Mr. Parthasarathy said that the Cabinet also approved M/s Berry Alloys Ltd. (BAL)'s proposal to establish an 83-MW wind-solar hybrid power project near Maddelacheruvu, Sri Sathya Sai district. The project forms a part of the State's push for integrated clean energy solutions.
In a further thrust to pumped hydro development, the Cabinet approved M/s Chinta Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. to develop a 360-MW PSP project at Koppolu in Kondapuram mandal, YSR Kadapa district. This project is expected to play a crucial role in grid stability and energy balancing, he said.
The Minister said in a notable corrective action, the Cabinet cancelled the 800-MW Avuku PSP project in Nandyal district, previously awarded to M/s Yarro Infra Pvt. Ltd. (formerly Aurobindo Realty & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.).
The Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of NREDCAP recommended the cancellation citing long-pending payments, severe delays in DPR submission, and lack of progress on ground. ''This move underscores the State's commitment to accountability and timely project execution, especially in the strategic renewable energy sector,'' the Minister said.

Bihar Cabinet clears internship, artist pension schemes; sanctions ₹882 crore for Punaura Dham
In a key decision aimed at enhancing youth employability and cultural preservation, the Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) approved the Mukhya Mantri Pratigya Yojana, under which financial assistance will be extended to young individuals undertaking internships in various companies. The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The State is bound to go for Assembly elections sometime later this year. Under the scheme, youth aged between 18 and 28 who have completed training under skill development programmes, or hold qualifications such as Class 12, ITI, diploma, graduate, or postgraduate degrees, will be eligible for financial assistance during the course of their internships. Cabinet Secretariat Department's Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth said at a post-Cabinet briefing that youth with Class 12 qualifications would receive ₹4,000 per month, while those with ITI or diploma qualifications would be entitled to ₹5,000 per month. Graduates and postgraduates will receive ₹6,000 per month. Additionally, those pursuing internships outside their home districts will receive an extra ₹2,000 per month, while those interning outside Bihar will receive ₹5,000 per month as livelihood assistance. This additional support will be limited to a maximum of three months. The financial support will be credited directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. A task force committee, headed by the Development Commissioner and including members from industry bodies such as CII and FICCI, has been formed to oversee implementation. Mr. Siddharth added that 5,000 beneficiaries would be supported in the financial year 2025–26, while the scheme aims to benefit one lakh youth over the next five years starting from 2026–27. Pension scheme for artists In another major decision, the Cabinet approved the Mukhya Mantri Kalakar Pension Yojana under which artists engaged in classical, visual, or performing arts for at least 10 years will be given a monthly pension of ₹3,000. Mr. Siddharth said the scheme seeks to preserve Bihar's rich cultural heritage by providing support to eligible artists aged 50 years or older, with an annual income not exceeding ₹1.2 lakh. An initial outlay of ₹1 crore has been sanctioned for the current fiscal year. ₹882 crore for Punaura Dham The Cabinet also cleared ₹882.87 crore for the integrated development of the Maa Janaki temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district, believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita. The temple complex is to be developed on the lines of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Of the total sanctioned amount, ₹137 crore will be utilised for developing the old temple and premises, ₹728 crore for tourism-related infrastructure, and ₹16 crore for a decade-long maintenance plan. The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation will implement the project. Employment rules amended The Cabinet also approved a proposal by the Labour Resources Department to amend the Bihar Factory Rules, 1950, allowing women — excluding pregnant and lactating women — to work in factories classified as hazardous. Mr. Siddharth said the move would help expand employment opportunities for women in the industrial sector. A total of 24 agendas were passed in the cabinet on Tuesday.

Cabinet clears ₹1,853 crore Tamil Nadu highway project under HAM
The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a national highway project in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 1,853 crore in Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. The 46.6-kilometre four-lane project between Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram will reduce travel woes between Madurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi – the travel is dependent on the existing two-lane National Highway 87 (NH-87) and associated state highways, which experience significant congestion due to high traffic volumes, especially in densely populated stretches and key towns along the corridor. 'To address these challenges, the project will upgrade approximately 46.7 km of NH-87 from Paramakudi to Ramanathapuram to a four-lane configuration. This will decongest the existing corridor, improve safety, and cater to the mobility needs of rapidly growing towns such as Paramakudi, Sathirakudi, Achundanvayal and Ramanathapuram,' the Cabinet said in a statement. According to the Cabinet, the Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section will play a pivotal role in regional economic growth by strengthening connectivity between major religious and economic centres. This will boost tourism to Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi, and open new avenues for trade and industrial development. 'The project will also generate approximately 840,000 person-days of direct and 1 million person-days of indirect employment, and will open new avenues of growth, development and prosperity in surrounding regions,' it said. The corridor has an average daily traffic of 12,700 passenger car units. The civil cost of the project is Rs 997 crore and the land acquisition cost is Rs 340 crore.

Effective implementation of welfare schemes enabled TDP government to win hearts of people says MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra
The Telugu Desam MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra on Tuesday said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government has won the hearts of people with the effective implementation of welfare schemes promised under the 'Super-Six' assurances prior to 2024 general elections. At a meeting under 'Suparipalana-Toli Adugu'' in Parvatipuram, he urged all party leaders to highlight the achievements of the administration by directly engaging with people in the villages, and mandals. He said that the Chief Minister had enhanced social welfare programmes, enabling 67 lakh people to receive an additional amount of ₹1,000 as soon as he took reins of the administration in June, 2024. He said: 'The previous YSRCP government extend financial assistance to only one child under the Amma Vodi programme, but the TDP extended Talliki Vandanam scheme to all children in a family. Such welfare scheme is not found even in rich States like Gujarat and Maharashtra.' Mr. Vijaya Chandra said that lakhs of jobs would be created for the youth with initiatives such as the Quantum Computing Valley, the development of an aviation hub at Bhogapuram and the construction of Amaravati capital region.
