Dallas Goedert turns tough offseason into Eagles camp triumph
Six months have passed since Dallas Goedert hauled one in versus the Green Bay Packers and stiff-armed his way into the end zone. It still feels like that wasn't that long ago. Since then, he has enjoyed a roller-coaster ride. He helped the Philadelphia Eagles raise a Lombardi Trophy. Then, elation turned into uncertainty. His offseason turned out to be very humbling.
The only team he has ever played for allowed him and his agent to seek a trade partner. No deal was struck. He returned home. There was no extension waiting for him. Bummer...
Goedert knows how this game works, though. There's love on both sides, but entering year eight, he is also aware of the business side of things. How has he reacted? How do you think? Ever the professional, he has taken a tough spring and turned it into a phenomenal start to the summer.
Dallas Goedert has bounced back from a tough summer in a big way
A sixth Eagles camp is in the books. The day's events played out familiarly. A member of the coaching staff speaks beforehand. Players speak with the media after the session. Thursday brought special teams coordinator Michael Clay. Later, we heard from the likes of Dallas Goedert and others.
Philadelphia's tight end dropped his first target on Thursday. He was white hot and on his game ever since. Injuries have been discussed with the guys who have been at practice.
Guys who need reps are missing significant time. Guys who have been on the field have battled the white-hot temperatures. Goedert believes it is making him and his teammates a closer and more cohesive unit.
Grant Calcaterra has also enjoyed a decent camp. Not so much for the other tight ends, though. It's early, but the rest of these guys aren't standing out consistently. Don't be shocked if two tight ends are all the Eagles decides they want to carry on the initial 53-man roster.

Saquon Barkley says he's not a member of President Trump's Council on Sports Nutrition
Eagles All-Pro RB says he is not joining Harrison Butker, Nick Bosa, Tony Romo, and Lawrence Taylor on President Trump's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.' In a move that will revive a standard from the Reagan, Clinton, and Bush era, Harrison Butker, Nick Bosa, Tony Romo, and Lawrence Taylor will join President Trump's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.' One athlete and sports star who won't be participating is Eagles' All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. Following Monday's practice, Barkley disputed the initial press release, stating that he will not be a member of the presidential council. According to the Washington Post, President Trump on Thursday announced that the presidential fitness test, a hallmark of American physical education programs, will be making a comeback in public schools. The assessment was retired and replaced by a fitness program under the Obama administration. The presidential fitness test was initiated in the 1950s by a council established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower that was directed to improve the physical fitness of American youths, in response to fears they were falling behind their European counterparts when it came to athleticism. The project is an alternative way to get anti-obesity drugs to Medicare and Medicaid patients, after the administration said in April that neither program would cover GLP-1s for weight loss. In doing so, it scrapped a 2024 Biden administration proposal for the programs to start covering GLP-1s for patients with obesity. Several high-profile athletes — all of whom have existing ties to Trump — attended the ceremony and will serve on the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. The attendees included professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau, who will chair the council; controversial National Football League kicker Harrison Butker; World Wrestling Entertainment mainstay Paul 'Triple H' Levesque; golfer Annika Sorenstam; and football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor. The Eagles running back wasn't in attendance and said he was shocked to hear his name mentioned. The list also includes NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, whom Trump repeatedly scrutinized during his first presidential term. Barkley was criticized during the off-season for spending time with President Trump on a golf outing prior to the Eagles' ring celebration.

Eagles' cornerback Quinyon Mitchell makes his debut on the NFL's Top 100 list
After becoming a finalist for the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year award, Eagles all-world cornerback Quinyon Mitchell made his debut on the Top 100 list at No. 49 Top 100 Players of 2025:@Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell debuts at No. 49! @NFLFilms The Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the first two rounds of last April's NFL draft, and the results were championship-worthy. Philadelphia was 2-2 entering the Week 5 bye, but lost one regular-season game after DeJean was inserted into the lineup in place of Avonte Maddox. The Eagles defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, and finished the year with both Mitchell and DeJean being finalists for the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award. With James Bradberry and Darius Slay departing, Mitchell will have an even more critical role in Vic Fangio's defense this season, and he's spent training camp playing left and right cornerback as he prepares to travel with the opposing team's best player. After a dynamic rookie season, Mitchell was just ranked No. 49 best in the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2025, becoming the second Eagles cornerback to make the list this year. Mitchell, a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist, is a key player for the Eagles after they lost several cornerbacks in free agency. On defense last year, Mitchell helped lead the charge with 46 tackles and 12 passes defended in 16 games. Last season, Mitchell tied for sixth in the league with a 79.2 coverage grade, recording 10 pass breakups and two interceptions, while ranking fifth in man coverage grade at 82.2 — one spot ahead of Cooper DeJean — and added a strong 77.4 grade in zone coverage.

NFL Insider Reveals Truth Behind A.J. Brown's Injury Scare
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. As the Philadelphia Eagles approach their first preseason matchup, the team is dealing with some notable injuries on the offensive side of the ball, specifically in the wide receiver department. Throughout the past week, the Eagles were practicing without the veteran DeVonta Smith. On Sunday, the All-Pro wide receiver AJ Brown joined Smith on the sidelines. The veteran is dealing with a hamstring issue. While any setback connected to a star player would typically generate a ton of concern, the NFL insider Mike Garafolo recently offered a positive update coming out of Philadelphia regarding Brown's injury. "I do not sense a five-alarm fire at all on this one," said the insider. "He stood and watched practice. This is something that they're going to want to keep a close eye on and make sure it is not something he aggravates. So, if we see AJ Brown sit out a couple of practices, no big deal for the defending champions." A.J. Brown #11 of the Philadelphia Eagles reacts during the Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp at NovaCare Complex on July 28, 2025 in Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaIt wouldn't make sense for the Eagles to risk further complications with Brown so early in the preseason. At this point, the Eagles know what Brown brings to the table. Since joining the team via trade away from the Tennessee Titans, Brown has been one of the most dominant wideouts in the game. During the 2022 season, Brown caught 88 passes for a career-high 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2023, he came down with a career-high 106 catches, while producing 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns. With just 13 games played last year, due to setbacks, Brown managed to just crack the 1,000-yard mark with 67 catches. He racked up another seven touchdowns to add to his 49 total for his career. Fresh off a Super Bowl victory, the Eagles played longer than most of the league last year. Some additional rest and recovery surely won't hurt. Soon, the Eagles will fire up their 2025 preseason run. When they take the field against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, it's unclear if Brown will get the nod to play or not. Read More: Injury Concerns Are Piling Up for Philadelphia Eagles Star The same can be said for DeVonta Smith, who has been dealing with a back injury. Last week, Smith missed several practices and has been spotted doing individual work to keep active while he's out of the mix. Similar to Brown, it's not clear when Smith will suit up again.
