15 years on, man who drugged cops and fled on way to court held
Agra: The Firozabad police arrested Govind Kumar, a fugitive who had been on the run for 15 years following an encounter on Sunday. Govind had escaped on Sept 17, 2010, while being transported from Etah district jail to Fatehabad court in Agra for a cheating case. He drugged two escorting policemen with food laced with drugs and fled in handcuffs. A case was registered at Firozabad's Rasulpur police station by Surendra Pal Singh, the then reserve inspector, Etah police lines, under IPC Sections 223 (offence of escape from confinement) and 224 (obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension). Since then, the criminal eluded the police by changing his identity. Later, a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for his capture by the then DIG of Agra range. ASP (city) Ravi Shanker Prasad said, "A police team from the Rasulpur police station, in coordination with the SOG and surveillance team, arrested Govind alias Saurabh alias Bhanu alias Jain Sahab. We recovered a country-made pistol, two used cartridges, and three live cartridges from him. Acting on a tip-off, we tracked him to Nagla Bari crossing on Fatehabad Road, where he was meeting his lawyer. When cornered, Govind opened fire. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brain tumor has left my son feeling miserable; please help! Bizman dies after neck gets stuck in goods lift amid power cut
Meerut: A 63-year-old sports equipment manufacturer died after his neck got trapped in an "illegal" goods lift inside his workshop during a power outage in Meerut's Surajkund area on Saturday evening, police said. Harvinder Singh was using the lift meant for transporting goods from the ground to the second floor when a power cut occurred. Police said Singh leaned out to check the situation, just as the electricity suddenly resumed, causing the lift to move abruptly and trap his neck. CCTV footage captured him stuck in the elevator for nearly 15 minutes. Factory workers managed to pull him out and rush him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. SP (city) Ayush Vikram Singh said, "His body was sent for postmortem examination, and the autopsy reports are awaited. No complaint has been filed in the case. Further action will be taken accordingly." A police official privy to the investigation said, "The preliminary investigation revealed that the lift was illegally installed and the building was constructed in a residential zone, where commercial activity is not permitted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Ultimate Trick to Finding 5-Star Hotels for $50/Night? Following his death, the Sports Goods Association observed a day of mourning and kept the Surajkund market shut on Sunday. This is not the first time a lift-related fatality has been reported in Meerut. Last year, a 28-year-old woman died after getting trapped in a hospital elevator minutes after giving birth. The hospital was later sealed for failing to meet basic safety norms.

What is Golf Force One? Trump's armoured buggy patrols Scottish golf course; protest threat triggers security upgrade
Trump, Golf foce one (AP, X images) During Donald Trump 's visit to his Turnberry golf course in South Ayrshire, Scotland, on Saturday, an armoured golf cart nicknamed "Golf force one" was deployed for his security. The reinforced buggy followed him throughout the game. The buggy, believed to be a reinforced Polaris Ranger XP, appeared heavily armoured, and could serve as a quick getaway vehicle in case of an attack. The black vehicle has drawn comparisons to 'The Beast', the bulletproof car used to transport US presidents. 'From those photos, that is 100 per cent armored. The windscreen is a giveaway, as are the side panels, doors, and the large panel at the rear above the load tray,' a car armor expert told The Telegraph. A US secret service spokesperson didn't confirm specific details to Daily Mail, saying only that the agency uses 'a variety of tools' to keep protectees safe. Trump has often said he feels at home in Scotland, where his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, was born on the Isle of Lewis. But Trump faced demonstrators gathered in Edinburgh and other UK cities, calling the visit part of a broader problem with Trump's politics. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Harry Potter Star Surprises Fans with New Look. At the golf course itself, a lone protester, Matt Halliday, managed to breach the tight security to display signs linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein and mocking him with a message about bagpipes. Despite the protests and heavy security, Trump played the full round with his son Eric and ambassador Warren Stephens.
