Devotees believe that they can wash away their sins if they have darshan of Lord Jagannath atop the 'Adapa Mandap'.
At least three persons, including two women, were killed and around 50 others injured in a stampede near Shree Gundicha temple in Puri on Sunday morning during a ceremony related to the ongoing Rath Yatra festivities, officials said.

Puri (Odisha) [India], June 30 (ANI): On the fourth day of Rath Yatra, devotees gathered in large numbers to witness and be part of the grand event. Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan called the stampede 'very unfortunate' and said that appropriate action will be taken after the completion of investigation. 'The incident is very unfortunate. The state government has taken strict action and a senior officer will investigate the incident. We will take action once we get the report of the investigation,' Harichandan told reporters. He added, 'Mahaprabhu, with his wish, he gives darshan to his devotees. Tomorrow, the devotees will have the opportunity to offer prayers. I prayed to Mahaprabhu for the well-being of everyone.' Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced a financial assistance of 25 lakh to the families of each deceased devotee. He also assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible and pledged to prevent such tragedies in the future. Following the incident, the state government has ordered a high-level administrative inquiry to be supervised by the Development Commissioner. Fire broke out following a reactor explosion at Sigachi Chemical Industry - PTI Image NEW DELHI: At least 12 people were killed and left 34 people injured after a devastating reactor explosion at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd in Telangana 's Pashamylaram on Monday morning. Earlier, Inspector General of Police V Satyanarayana confirmed to PTI: "Six bodies have been recovered from the accident site and two people died while undergoing treatment in a hospital. As many as 26 people were injured, out of which two to three people are seriously injured." According to factory sources, approximately 150 people were present in the facility, with 90 individuals near the blast site. The explosion occurred between 9.28 am and 9.35 am, prompting immediate response from local police and fire services. Ten fire engines were deployed, alongside NDRF and SDRF personnel for rescue operations. While the fire was contained, authorities worked to rescue about 10 workers trapped inside a room. The exact number of workers present during the incident remained unclear, as the record keeper was believed to be among the deceased.
