Why Alabama's 2026 class is set to skyrocket up recruiting rankings
If you were to take a look at the Alabama Crimson Tide's current position in the 2026 team recruiting rankings, then it might not be something you necessarily expected to see in mid-June.
As to why, that is because Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 45 nationally according to the latest 247Sports Team Rankings with only seven commitments, as of Tuesday, June 17.
However, do not be surprised if that ranking changes in the very near future, as things are certainly in place for the Crimson Tide to skyrocket up the class rankings over the next two-to-three weeks.
As mentioned previously, Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently holds only seven commitments, which is among the fewest of any SEC team. Of those seven, one is a five-star prospect in cornerback Jorden Edmonds, while the remaining six are all considered four-star's.
Lying ahead for the Crimson Tide however are numerous upcoming commitment decisions that will be made in the coming weeks from some of the nation's elite prospects, many of which have Alabama among their list of finalists.
For example, here are a few of the top Alabama targets who are announcing their commitments in the next two-to-three weeks, along with their rating and position, according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.
Alabama football recruiting decisions to watch during June, July
4-star RB Ezavier Crowell - June 26
4-star IOL Deacon Schmitt - June 28
5-star LB Xavier Griffin - June 29
5-star WR Cederian Morgan - July 2
5-star S Jireh Edwards - July 5
4-star LB Nick Abrams II - July 16
With the Crimson Tide trending for some of these prospects as well, it certainly is shaping up to be a loaded late-June and early-July for Alabama, something that you could say has already started with a pair of recent four-star commitments in offensive lineman Sam Utu and quarterback Jett Thomalla.
Will it continue in the coming days and weeks for the Crimson Tide?

In a move to add depth to the secondary, the Eagles have reportedly acquired the veteran cornerback, Jakorian Bennett. In exchange, the Eagles will part ways with the defensive tackle, Thomas Booker IV. via @AdamSchefter: Trade: Raiders are sending CB Jakorian Bennett to the Eagles in exchange for DT Thomas Booker IV, per sources. He played for two seasons in Community College before making the switch to a more notable program in Maryland. Bennett spent three seasons at Maryland. During his first year, he appeared in just four games. By year two, he made 12 appearances, registering 23 tackles and three interceptions. In his final season with the Terps in 2022, Bennett collected 26 tackles and two interceptions in 12 games. He was a fourth-round pick for the Las Vegas Raiders. At the time, he was projected to be an "average backup or special teamer," by "High-cut cornerback who is more of a catch-challenger than an instinctive ballhawk. The high passes defensed total is an example of how aggressive Bennett is at the catch point, and he's clearly effective at tilting the 50/50 ball in his favor. However, his coverage tends to lack the needed anticipation and discipline to stay connected to NFL route runners. He has good size, but his coverage strength is a mix and match of man and zone with both featuring inconsistencies that will likely follow him into an NFL camp." via Lance Zierlein, NFL Analyst. During his rookie season in the NFL, Bennett picked up 14 games of action, four of which he started. As a rookie, he produced 32 tackles and three pass deflections. Last year, Bennett started in a career-high seven games, while seeing the field for 10 total matchups. He collected another 26 tackles while deflecting eight passes throughout the year. Booker parts ways with the Eagles after spending some time with the team as a depth piece. In 2022, Booker entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick for the Houston Texans out of Stanford. After suiting up for the Eagles during their Super Bowl-winning season, the 25-year-old defensive lineman will now take his talents to Las Vegas to make up for a key loss on the Raiders' defensive front. Latest 2026 bracketology projects UNC basketball to face familiar foe in NCAA Tournament

Preseason bracketology matchups rarely happen. The North Carolina Tar Heels' basketball program is looking to avoid what happened in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. After barely getting into the tournament, UNC beat San Diego State in the first four before falling to Ole Miss in the opening round. Season-long issues then resurfaced in the Tar Heels' loss to the Rebels and this past offseason saw an overhaul of the roster. In Joe Lunardi's latest round of 2026 bracketology, UNC earns a six seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. North Carolina is projected to a familiar opponent, 11-seed San Diego State, who advances via winning a First Four matchup. If this actual matchup takes place, Lunardi will cement himself as the top bracketologist in college basketball history (not that he already isn't). Lunardi might anger fans occasionally, but he's pretty accurate. Whereas the Tar Heels carried a guard-heavy roster last year, their upcoming roster will be post-heavy. UNC will carry 7-footers Henri Veesaar and Ivan Matlekovic at center, plus 6'11" Jarin Stevenson and 6'9" Caleb Wilson at power forward. Senior Seth Trimble and Colorado State transfer Kyan Evans will hold down the North Carolina backcourt, with freshman Derek Dixon and Virginia Tech transfer Jaydon Young behind them. If the Tar Heels make a deep run into the NCAA Tournament, Hubert Davis won't have to worry about his job security. UNC's roster is much deeper this coming season, despite plenty of new players, but that depth needs to be proven during non-conference gameplay. Former Notre Dame QB Steve Angeli praises Riley Leonard, discusses his clutch CFP play

Steve Angeli didn't receive a lot of playing time for Notre Dame last season because Riley Leonard was firmly entrenched as the starting quarterback. For the season, Angeli went 24-of-36 passing for 268 yards and three touchdowns against zero interceptions. But the now Syracuse Orange signal-caller did have an integral part in Notre Dame's run to the College Football Playoff national championship game. During the Orange Bowl CFP semifinal against Penn State, the now Indianapolis Colts rookie Leonard exited the game during the final drive of the second quarter with a possible head injury. Angeli came in to lead a 52-yard scoring drive that featured three third-down conversions and ended in a field goal that cut Notre Dame's deficit to 10-3 entering halftime of an eventual 27-24 Fighting Irish win. Angeli spoke to the local media at Syracuse on Monday about Leonard and that clutch FG drive. "That was the most fun I had playing football last year," Angeli told reporters … "Just having that opportunity was special." It's safe that say that while he didn't get to see the field often in South Bend, he loved his time there. Angeli, who completed 77 percent of his passes for 504 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception in 2023, has two years of eligibility remaining with the Orange.
