As Max officially rebrands back to HBO Max, the streaming site is gearing up to release new movies and TV shows in July. From the highest-grossing horror movie of 2025 (so far) to three new A24 films, there's a lot to look forward to over the next four weeks.
The most anticipated release in July is Ryan Coogler's blockbuster hit Sinners . The supernatural thriller will begin streaming on HBO Max starting July 4. Michael B. Jordan stars as twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, who want to leave their troubled lives behind and return to their hometown — "only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back,' per the synopsis.
As part of A24's ongoing streaming deal with Warner Bros., three more of the studio's films will be available on the platform this month. Subscribers can look forward to the acclaimed comedy-drama On Becoming a Guinea Fowl , the Ayo Edebiri-led psychological thriller Opus and the dark fantasy film Death of a Unicorn starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd.
The HBO Original Billy Joel documentary And So It Goes will also debut on the platform this month. The title showcases an 'expansive portrait of the life and music of Billy Joel, exploring the love, loss, and personal struggles that fuel his songwriting,' according to the site. The film will be released in two parts: Part 1 drops on July 18, while Part 2 follows on July 25.
HBO Max is also adding the entire Mortal Kombat franchise to the platform starting July 1. The drop comes ahead of the sequel, Mortal Kombat II , which is set to hit theaters on Oct. 24, 2025.

Apple Music to open a studio in Culver City

Apple Music on Monday said it's opening a three-story studio in Culver City this summer that will have a 4,000-square-foot soundstage for live performances and fan events. 'With this new studio, we are furthering our commitment to creating a space for artists to create, connect, and share their vision,' said Rachel Newman, Apple Music's co-head, in a statement. The facility spans more than 15,000 square feet and includes two radio studios for live interviews and performances, a spatial audio mixing room, booths for songwriting and podcasting, and rooms to help artists create content, Apple said in a post about the studio. The facility is located in Culver City in the Hayden Tract neighborhood. Los Angeles architect Eric Owen Moss, known for his distinctive and sculptural structures throughout Los Angeles, designed the building that houses the new studio. Apple didn't provide an exact date for the studio's opening. The new space shows how Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, Calif., has been expanding its real estate footprint in Southern California as it pushes further into the entertainment industry. The tech giant is building a new office complex on the border of Culver City and Los Angeles that is expected to house the company's television streaming service Apple TV+. Read more: Expansive offices for Apple are rising in Culver City As technology, including the frenzy around artificial intelligence, continues to reshape the way musicians and filmmakers tell stories, tech companies are emphasizing that they want to support creativity. Last year, Apple apologized after an iPad Pro ad that showed a hydraulic press crushing musical instruments such as a piano and other creative tools before the thin device was revealed, sparked backlash. While the commercial showcased Apple's thinnest product, some critics viewed it as a symbol of technology destroying creativity. Apple said the new studio will serve as the anchor for a global network of creative hubs that are already open in New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris and Nashville. The company said it plans to open more studios soon. Apple also announced that as part of its 10-year anniversary celebration, Apple Music Radio starting on July 1 will start counting down the service's top 500 most-streamed songs. Apple Music is also releasing a way for its listeners to see and stream the songs they've played the most since they joined the service in a "Replay All Time" playlist. NASA will start livestreaming content on Netflix later this summer

NASA is bringing live NASA+ programming to Netflix. For the uninitiated, NASA+ is the space agency's very own streaming platform. Content will begin showing up later this summer. This will be reserved for live events, with NASA saying it'll be used to stream "rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission coverage and breathtaking live views of Earth from the International Space Station." NASA+ also streams original documentaries, but it doesn't look like that's part of this deal. 'The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience,' said Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+. She went on to say that the agency is committed to inspiring new generations "right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone." This won't be reserved for US residents, as NASA says it'll be available throughout the globe. This should expand the agency's reach significantly because Netflix has over 300 million subscribers all over the planet. NASA+ isn't going anywhere. It's still available through the NASA app and on the official website. The free service replaced a pre-existing cable channel.

You Can Stream the 1985 Live Aid Concert in Full on Its 40th Anniversary. Here's How

July 13, 2025, marks the 40th anniversary of Live Aid. The iconic charity concert was the brainstorm of rock legends Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for famine relief in Africa. Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia on July 13, 1985. Forty years later, fans can stream the entire concert at internet radio station or listen via Alexa, Roku, Live365, Audacy, or the 80s Central mobile app, reported. The Live Aid livestream will begin July 13 at 8 a.m. and will air commercial-free and in real time, just as it played out from both stadiums four decades ago. 80s Central program director Christopher Shaw said in a statement, "For 80s fans, this is the Super Bowl, the Grammys, and New Year's Eve rolled into one. Live Aid wasn't just a concert-it was our Woodstock. And here at 80s Central, we're honored to bring this historic day back to life." Back in 1985, fans clamored to get tickets for Live Aid. Longtime 93.3 WMMR radio personality Pierre Robert explained how the Philadelphia classic rock station covered the event. '[Concert promoter] Bill Graham took one look at JFK Stadium and said, 'What a f---ing dump,' he told Philadelphia magazine. 'So they asked for help cleaning it up, and I volunteered for a few days before the concert. And by doing that, I got an all-access pass to the show. WMMR didn't have the rights to the broadcast, so we were broadcasting outside in a Winnebago. It was the wildest f---ing thing.' The list of performers in Philly included Black Sabbath, Run–D.M.C., Judas Priest, Bryan Adams, The Beach Boys, Pretenders, Madonna, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Cars, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Patti LaBelle, and Mick Jagger and Tina Turner. In London, fans saw performances from The Who, Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, Elvis Costello, Dire Straits, Paul McCartney, and more. Queen's 20-minute set is regarded as one of the best live concert performances of all time. In addition, Genesis frontman Phil Collins completed a major feat by performing in both London and Philadelphia on the same day, thanks to a quick trip on a Concorde. 'I'm very proud to be asked to do it,' Collins said in a backstage interview after his London performance. 'I mean because everybody's involved and, you know it's just great to be part of something like this.'You Can Stream the 1985 Live Aid Concert in Full on Its 40th Anniversary.
