Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu leaves Arsenal
The 26-year-old Japan international had another season to run on his deal at the Emirates.
Thank you, Tomi ❤️
We have reached a mutual agreement with Takehiro Tomiyasu to end his contract with immediate effect.
— Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 4, 2025
However, Arsenal have confirmed he has now left the club following 84 appearances for them across the last four years.
Tomiyasu, who joined from Bologna in 2021, becomes the second defender to head for the Arsenal exit this summer after Kieran Tierney joined Celtic.
There are also doubts over Oleksandr Zinchenko's future at the club, while midfielder Thomas Partey is a free agent after his contract expired on June 30. Jorginho joined Brazilian club Flamengo when his deal at the Emirates came to an end last month.

How will Gyokeres fare in Premier League?
"I don't think he's the guy," former England defender Rio Ferdinand said of Viktor Gyokeres on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, when the striker was linked with Manchester United."I've watched him probably three times really, really closely. And three times I've gone: 'He ain't getting that opportunity in the Prem'. Is there enough - after he's physically matched - to get him a goal?"Take a glance at the list of leading goalscorers in Europe's top leagues in 2024-25 and the usual suspects are who is 6ft 2in, managed 39, though the Primeira Liga is not considered one of the top five leagues in question is whether Gyokeres he can be prolific in a stronger league. He has just turned 27 and is yet to play in Europe's top five divisions - hence Ferdinand's is perhaps worth noting 35% of his goals in 2024-25 came from penalties, as he successfully converted all 19 of his is little denying that Gyokeres is a goalscorer, but will he be such a success against elite-level defences?"Obviously with Arsenal's front players there's going to be competition," Bjorn Hamberg, Gyokeres' former assistant coach at Brighton and fellow Swede, told BBC Sport."I think he's committed to let go again and obviously he understands that Arsenal will be another step up in the ladder."At the same time, in his last few seasons, especially in the Champions League, you can see he is probably more prepared than ever to take that challenge on."He improves every year and normally stays fit. He's just one of those players who is good around the box, a good finisher, but he's also quite strong in transition and in big spaces."So he's quite versatile in that sense and I think that's a really big thing in the Premier League."Read more on Viktor Gyokeres

Lionesses hero Chloe Kelly slammed for 'cocky gesture' after beating Spain in Euro 2025 Final
Chloe Kelly had her name up in lights as she scored the winning penalty for the Lionesses but the England women's star has been called cocky by the Spanish media England hero Chloe Kelly has been labelled "cocky" by the Spanish media as her celebrations are criticised. The Arsenal winger smashed home the winning penalty to deliver Euros success for the Lionesses. It was the second time in succession they've claimed European glory but Kelly's antics have not gone down well with foreign media. They claim that her celebration in front of La Roja stopper Cata Coll was "unnecessary". They say that Kelly, who scored the winner in England's 2022 Euros final win over Germany, diverted her path after scoring from 12 yards and made a gesture in front of the keeper, as is claimed by Spanish outlet Dario AS. They wrote: "This is unnecessary, my friend: Kelly's cocky gesture to Cata Coll after scoring the decisive penalty. The England specialist changed her run during her penalty celebration to get past the goalkeeper she had just beaten." It comes after Kelly made a b-line for the England supporters in the corner, but that was described as "cocky" and uncalled-for. Kelly came off the bench for the Euros final and produced some historic contributions. Before scoring her penalty she assisted Alessia Russo's 57th-minute equaliser that cancelled out Mariona Caldentey's opener for Spain. Kelly had missed a penalty in the semi-final win over Italy, scoring the rebound, and was adamant history wouldn't repeat itself. She said: "I was adamant I wasn't missing two on the bounce. I was cool, I was composed. I knew I was going to hit the back of the net. I don't miss penalties twice." The 27-year-old feared her England hopes were disappearing as she struggled for form and minutes whilst at Manchester City. Kelly eventually signed for Arsenal on loan in January, and made her move permanent in July, which saw her get back to her best and land some career milestones. "If that's a story to tell someone maybe experiencing something the same - tough times don't last," she said. "Just around the corner was a Champions League final, won that, and now a Euros final, won that." Kelly hailed the influence of her manager, Sarina Wiegman, as she said: "She gave me hope when I probably didn't have any. She gave me an opportunity to represent my country again." In a telling dig to those who doubted her the Arsenal star said on social media: "Thank you to everyone who wrote me off - I'm grateful." Viktor Gyokeres issues early demand to Arsenal captain - 'The only thing I need'
Viktor Gyokeres has flown out to Asia to link up with his new Arsenal team-mates and their £63.7million signing has already made it clear what he'll demand from them New Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres wants one thing from captain Martin Odegaard: assists. Gyokeres, 27, finally completed his £63.7million move to the Emirates on Saturday, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. The Swede's arrival ends Arsenal's long search for a striker and boss Mikel Arteta hopes that he'll be the missing piece of their jigsaw. Gyokeres scored 97 goals in just 101 games for Sporting Lisbon, making him one of the most prolific marksmen in Europe. But the former Coventry City talisman will need service and wants Odegaard to provide it. In a video posted on Arsenal's social media channels, Gyokeres can be seen reading out a letter from the Gunners skipper. "If there's anything you need or any way I can help, just give me a shout," part of Odegaard's message read. "Some assists, please, would be nice," Gyokeres interjected. The 27-year-old then continued reading, saying: "Looking forward to working together and sharing success in the season ahead. All the best, Martin." Gyokeres then said: "Very nice. The only thing I need is some assists." The Sweden international met Odegaard for the first time on Sunday, as he arrived in Singapore to watch Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-2. Odegaard scored the winning goal, converting an 84th-miniute penalty. Next up for the Gunners is a clash with bitter north London rivals Tottenham on Thursday in Hong Kong. Gyokeres could make his debut in the 'friendly' but his lack of match fitness may well delay his first outing in an Arsenal shirt. Is Viktor Gyokeres the answer to Arsenal's problems? Have your say in the comments section. Arteta didn't rule out the possibility of Gyokeres featuring, though, saying: "Well I think he hasn't had a single training session with the team since the last game with Sporting when they became champions. "So we will assess him tomorrow, he's done all the medicals, everything is looking good but to get him up to speed with the right levels of fitness I think is very important. So we're not going to stop him, we want him with us as quick as possible but we'll have to assess and the medical team will do that." If he does appear, Gyokeres will don the No.14 shirt famously worn by Gunners legend Thierry Henry. His competitive debut is likely to be against Manchester United - who were also interested in signing him - on Sunday, August 16, the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League season.
