Reliance Defence bags ₹600-crore order from Germany's Rheinmetall Waffe Munition
The export order is one of the largest in the high-tech ammunition domain to date, a company statement said.
The order represents a key milestone in Reliance Defence's strategy to strengthen its position as a reliable partner in the global defence and ammunition supply chain, with a particular focus on Europe, it said.
The collaboration highlights the mutual commitment of both parties to long-term cooperation, and to advancing the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives by strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.
Reliance Defence aims to be amongst top three defence exporters in the country, it said.
"This strategic partnership...illustrates our strong commitment to partner with India under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi," said Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG.
Anil Ambani, Founder Chairman, Reliance Group said the partnership brings cutting-edge capabilities to India and represents a defining milestone for the country's private defence manufacturing sector.
Reliance Defence will establish an integrated facility for the manufacturing of explosives, ammunition, and small arms under the ambitious Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City (DADC) initiative, it stated.
DADC is being developed in the Watad industrial area of Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, and is set to become the largest greenfield project in the defence sector ever undertaken by any private company in India.
It will serve as a cornerstone for future innovation, advanced production, and export-oriented growth in the defence sector.

Parliament is not museum: Cong's Manickam Tagore slams govt over nameplate
Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Thursday strongly criticised the central government, accusing it of bypassing parliamentary procedure and undermining democratic norms, shortly after the Parliamentary Affairs Minister installed a nameplate on the new Parliament building. In a post on X, Tagore aimed at PM Modi and said, "Parliament is not a museum, Mr. Modi. It's where democracy speaks. Let it." "Good that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister finally put a board saying 'Parliament' on the new building. At least now we can be sure which building the government has been avoiding all this while," he further wrote in a post. He referred to a letter signed by 240 MPs, a majority in the Lok Sabha, demanding a special session to discuss the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, and criticised the government for not responding. "When 240 MPs--a majority in the Lok Sabha--wrote to the PM demanding a session to discuss Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor, the government responded with... silence. First time in history such a large democratic request was ignored. What's next, ignoring elections?" Tagore asked. "Strong words. And our PM? Still on silent mode," he wrote in a post. Furthermore, he stated, "So we have: A Parliament with a nameplate. No respect for MPs' demands. No statement on foreign leaders claiming to pressure India." Although the government has announced the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Congress leader pointed out the absence of any response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding US President Donald Trump's claim that he made 14 calls to Modi and allegedly "threatened" him into a ceasefire. The upcoming Monsoon session will be the first Parliament session following Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. The Budget session of Parliament began on January 31 this year. The Budget Session saw the passage of significant legislation, including the Waqf Amendment Bill. There will be no Parliament sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations. Siemens says US has lifted chip software curbs on China: Report
Germany's Siemens has received a notice from the U.S. government saying restrictions on the export of chip design software to China have been lifted, Bloomberg News reported citing a statement from the tech company. Siemens has restored complete access to its software and technology for Chinese customers, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. The German company and the U.S. Department of Commerce did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. Earlier on Wednesday, the U.S. sent letters to ethane producers to rescind a restrictive licensing requirement on exports to China imposed last month. Last week, the United States and China resolved issues over rare earth mineral and magnet shipments to the U.S., settling a dispute that had undermined a trade deal reached in May. While the pair disputed rare earth trade issues, the U.S. curbed aviation exports including suspending licenses for GE Aerospace to ship jet engines for the C919 of Chinese airplane maker COMAC. The U.S. also suspended licenses for nuclear equipment suppliers to sell to Chinese power plants and restricted exports including from electronic design automation software makers Cadence Design Systems , Synopsys and Siemens EDA. China's commerce ministry said on Friday that following talks with the U.S., the countries have confirmed a framework under which China will review export applications for controlled items while the U.S. will cancel corresponding restrictive measures. Last month, Synopsys resumed offering some services in China, easing a suspension it had implemented to comply with U.S. export controls .

Government indifferent as farmers sink deeper into debt: Rahul on Maharashtra farmer deaths
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday (July 3, 2025) attacked the Modi government over farmer deaths in Maharashtra, saying that it remains indifferent to farmers' plight, even as they are sinking deeper into debt every day. In a post on X in Hindi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha accused the government of ignoring farmers' demands for a loan waiver and a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) for crops. On Wednesday (July 2, 2025), Opposition members walked out of the Maharashtra Assembly twice over issues of farmer deathsand non-payment of dues to soybean cultivators in the State. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar claimed in the Assembly that 767 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra between January and March this year. While 200 cases were declared ineligible for aid, inquiries are pending in 194 cases, he said. Also Read | Maharashtra Assembly session: Opposition walks out over farmer deaths, delay in payment to soybean cultivators "Think about it... in just 3 months, 767 farmers [died by] suicide in Maharashtra. Is this just a statistic? No. These are 767 destroyed homes. 767 families that will never be able to recover. And the government? It is silent. It is watching indifferently," the former Congress president said. Farmers are sinking deeper into debt every day as seeds, fertilizers and diesel are expensive. "But there is no guarantee of MSP. When they demand a loan waiver, they are ignored," he charged. "But (what about) those who have crores? The Modi government easily waives their loans. Just look at today's news -- Anil Ambani's Rs 48,000 crore SBI 'fraud'," he said. "Modi ji had said that he would double the income of farmers. Today the situation is such that the life of the farmer is being halved. "This system is killing farmers -- silently, but continuously and Modi ji is watching the spectacle of his own PR," Mr. Gandhi said. BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya hit back, sharing a chart on X which claimed that 55,928 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra during the 15-year tenure of the NCP-Congress government. "The politics of counting the dead is disgusting, but it is necessary to show the mirror to people like Rahul Gandhi," Mr. Malviya said. Before opening his mouth, Rahul Gandhi should recall the sins committed by the NCP-Congress government during its tenure in Maharashtra, the BJP leader said. "First tell why 55,928 farmers [died by] suicide in 15 years of Congress-NCP (Sharad Pawar) government in Maharashtra," he said.
